If the only experience you have of studying a language is from your time in school, you may not know that there has been a revolution in the teaching of modern languages so that it is both more fun and more worthwhile. Your Swedish teacher in Leicester will be using the Communicative Approach, where your lessons will, with few exceptions, be conducted in Swedish. You will see your progress from that very first lesson and will soon be confident enough to conduct business or talk socially in Swedish.
Our Swedish courses are usually offered by our clients as 1:1 training for their employees. Group sessions, however, are also available and can be excellent value for money. Planning is required so that participants all meet at the same time each week, and we recommend that numbers are kept to 6 or less. 1:1 Swedish lessons at Leicester mean that you will have your individual needs, weaknesses and strengths catered for, so that your progress is quicker.
A multi-lingual Account Manager with extensive experience is responsible for each SIMON & SIMON Swedish language course. A profile on your trainer, Course Plan and course materials will be sent to you when you start your Swedish course. After every 40 hours of training you will receive a Progress Report. We will also send you Breaking the Language Barrier, our quarterly newsletter, which contains a wonderful prize draw and valuable language learning resource weblinks.

The Swedish language courses in Leicester that we run go on through the year. Each week, most of our students will attend at least one of our 90-minute lessons, but many will do more. We can also arrange Weekend Courses for you. Swedish courses run from Monday to Friday, any time from 8am to 6pm. Intensive Swedish language courses can be arranged in residential centres abroad or in the UK, or on clients’ premises for 30 hours per week, 6 hours a day Monday to Friday.
Before you start your Swedish language course we will assess your level of Swedish and speak to you about your aims so that your Swedish language course can be customised for you. You may have never been exposed to Swedish before and wish to develop basic survival skills, or you may have some experience and wish to be able to speak more fluently in Swedish when discussing business. Swedish is a North Germanic language, spoken by approximately 10 million people, predominantly in Sweden and parts of Finland, especially along its coast and on the Åland islands. It is, to a considerable extent, mutually intelligible with Norwegian and to a lesser extent with Danish. Along with the other North Germanic languages, Swedish is a descendant of Old Norse, the common language of the Germanic peoples living in Scandinavia during the Viking Era. It is currently the largest of the North Germanic languages by numbers of speakers.
Leicester is a city and unitary authority area in the East Midlands area of England. It is also the county town of Leicestershire. The city lies on the River Soar and at the edge of the National Forest. In 2006, the population of the Leicester unitary authority was estimated at 289,700, the largest in the East Midlands, whilst 441,213 people lived in the wider Leicester Urban Area. Eurostat’s Larger Urban Zone listed the population of the area at 772,400 people as of 2004. Leicester is the 10th most populous settlement in the United Kingdom using the 2001 census definitions and the urban area is the fifteenth largest conurbation in the UK, the second largest in the region behind the Nottingham Urban Area. Ancient Roman pavements and baths remain in Leicester from its early settlement as Ratae Corieltauvorum, a Roman military outpost in a region inhabited by the Celtic Corieltauvi tribe. Following the demise of Roman society the early medieval Ratae Corieltauvorum is shrouded in obscurity, but when the settlement was captured by the Danes it became one of five fortified towns important to the Danelaw. The name “Leicester” is thought to derive from the words castra of the “Ligore”, meaning a camp on the River Legro, an early name for the River Soar. Leicester appears in the Domesday Book as “Ledecestre”. Leicester continued to grow throughout the Early Modern period as a market town, although it was the Industrial Revolution that facilitated an unparalleled process of unplanned urbanisation in the area.
The table below is based on recognised language levels used by various academic institutions across the European Union. A highly motivated student attending weekly sessions with their Swedish language trainer in Leicester can expect to move from one level to another after 50 hours providing they also commit to a similar number of hours of self-study.
Of course, some people find learning languages easier than others, and some students will have more opportunities to practice Swedish in the course of their work and leisure, so these factors also need to be considered when trying to assess how long it will take to move from one level to another.

I opened up an enquiry with Simon and Simon to arrange intensive language training as a private individual. Due to personal circumstances, I ended up not following through on my language training plans. However, the customer service I received was so positive that I'm taking the time to write this review. From the start, Simon and Simon were quick to respond and were highly communicative. Much better than the other language training companies I approached in London. I had the pleasure of corresponding with Liezl Dennis who was in charge of arrange my language training. Liezl was communicative, a pleasure to speak with over the phone, and was patient in finding different possible courses of training for me as I hesitated over which was the best option. Thanks to this kind of customer service, it is likely that I'll be back in future. Thank you Liezl and the Simon and Simon team.Posted on Google![]()
