Both professionals and non-professionals alike have seen great benefits from a SIMON & SIMON Russian Language Course. SIMON & SIMON’s team of qualified Russian teachers is made up of native speakers who average 15 years of experience.
Modern Language Teaching: The Communicative Approach
These teachers will make sure that a course is tailored for your specific needs so that you will benefit regardless of your language proficiency. Feedback from clients on our Russian tutors is consistently highly positive. Our students are sent a profile containing information on their specific teacher’s experience and background before the start of their Russian Lessons.
Modern language teaching is now approached much differently to how you might remember learning languages in school. The experience is now much more fun and rewarding. The Communicative Approach, where your Russian teacher will conduct your lessons almost entirely in Russian means that progress is made from your very first lesson. Soon, you will have such confidence that using Russian in a social or business setting will be no problem.
In depth: Our Russian Courses for Business in Gloucestershire
1:1 and Group Russian Courses in Gloucestershire
Russian language courses by SIMON & SIMON have been honed down to give you the greatest progress and value for money.
While we offer learning options on both a 1:1 and group basis, we find that most of our learners benefit most from 1 to 1 language training courses.
Group training offers great value for money, but the commitment and organisation to ensure the participants all show up at the same time every week is a trade-off. We recommend no more than 6 participants in a group otherwise the quality of the learning will drop dramatically for all learners.
Gloucestershire Course Management
Every SIMON & SIMON language course is overseen by one of our highly experienced Account Managers, all of whom are multi-lingual.
At the start of your Russian language course we will send you a profile on your trainer, followed by a Course Plan and relevant course materials, and then a Progress Report after every 40 hours of training. You will also receive a copy of our quarterly newsletter, Breaking the Language Barrier, featuring a superb prize draw and invaluable weblinks to language learning sources.
Russian Course Locations & Schedules
SIMON & SIMON’s network is completely international, with a strong presence across the UK. We run our language courses all year long and can happen anytime between 8am – 6pm Monday to Friday. Weekend courses may also be negotiated with your teacher.
Sessions are typically 90 minutes long with at least one session per week. This can be increased or reduced according to your personal schedule.
And if you have an urgency to learn Russian, you can take part in an intensive Russian language course which consists of 6 hours every day Monday – Friday giving you 30 hours per week.
Russian Course Content
We do not run standardised Russian language courses. Instead, one of our multi-lingual Account Managers will speak to you directly and tailor the course to your particular objectives. Your teacher then guides you through your learning at the pace and in the direction that you yourself help to set.
This means that whether you’re an absolute beginning looking to “just survive” in Russia, or if you are a professional who wishes to understand the nuances of the language in order to perform better in a law, banking, finance, insurance, sales, travel, marketing or administration context, you will be able to find what you need with SIMON & SIMON’s Russian language courses.

About Russian
Russian is a Slavic language used primarily in Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. It is an unofficial but widely spoken language in Ukraine, Latvia and Estonia and, to a lesser extent, the other countries that were once constituent republics of the USSR. It is the most geographically widespread language of Eurasia, the most widely spoken of the Slavic languages, and the largest native language in Europe. Russian belongs to the family of Indo-European languages and is one of three (or four including Rusyn) living members of the East Slavic languages. Written examples of Old East Slavonic are attested from the 10th century onwards. The language is one of the six official languages of the United Nations.
About Gloucestershire
Gloucestershire is a county in South West England. The county comprises part of the Cotswold Hills, part of the flat fertile valley of the River Severn, and the entire Forest of Dean. The county town is the city of Gloucester, and other principal towns include Cheltenham, Cirencester, Stroud, and Tewkesbury. When considered as a ceremonial county, Gloucestershire borders the preserved county of Gwent in Wales (now Monmouthshire), and in England the ceremonial counties of Herefordshire, Worcestershire, Warwickshire, Oxfordshire, Wiltshire, Somerset and Bristol. Ceremonially, it includes the area covered by the South Gloucestershire unitary authority. According to a 2002 campaign by the charity Plantlife, the county flower of Gloucestershire is the Wild Daffodil. Gloucestershire is a historic county mentioned in the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle in the 10th century, though the areas of Winchcombe and the Forest of Dean were not added until the late 11th century. Gloucestershire originally included the “small town” of Bristol. The “local” rural community moved to the port city, (as Bristol was to become) and Bristol’s population growth accelerated during the industrial revolution. Bristol became part of the administrative County of Avon in 1974.
Assess Your Russian Level
The table below is based on recognised language levels used by various academic institutions across the European Union. A highly motivated student attending weekly sessions with their Russian language trainer can expect to move from one level to another after 50 hours providing they also commit to a similar number of hours of self-study.
Of course, some people find learning languages easier than others, and some students will have more opportunities to practise Russian in the course of their work and leisure, so these factors also need to be considered when trying to assess how long it will take to move from one level to another.
