Business English Courses in London

Need to improve your English language skills? All over the UK, private individuals and professionals working for all types of companies have gained benefits by taking part in an English Language Course from SIMON & SIMON.

Courses tailored to your precise requirements

Our highly qualified teachers have an average of 15 years’ experience and will tailor each course to the precise requirements of the student. We have worked with a variety students, from absolute novices to those with some experience and just want a refresher course. Every student/company will receive an information profile on the background and experience of their English teacher before they commence their English lessons.

The way that languages are now being taught is completely different to how it was a few years ago. It used to be that learning a language would be dull and monotonous, with an emphasis on simply memorising words and phrase, but now it is more fun and interactive. The Communicative Approach means that whatever language you are learning almost the whole lesson will be in that language, meaning that on one of our London based English Courses you will be completely immersed in the language. You will see yourself making real progress, even in the first lesson, and will soon communicate in English with confidence, in a range of social and business environments.

In depth: Our Business English Courses in London

1:1 and Group English Courses in London

SIMON & SIMON offer different course types depending on your wants and needs. Our English courses, generally, see the best results when doing 1:1 training as the course can be completely tailored. The 1:1 English lessons mean that you will have your individual needs, weaknesses and strengths catered for, so that your progress is quicker. However, we also offer group sessions which can be excellent value for money. Group sessions require extra planning as the participants need to meet at the same time each week. We also recommend that numbers are kept to 6 or less so each participant gets the individual time that they need.

English Course Management

Once you have decided to start an English language course you will have a specific Account Manager who will oversee the course. Every account manager on the team is highly experienced and multi-lingual. You will receive a profile on your trainer, course materials and a course plan before you start your English lessons and after every 40 hours of training you will receive a Progress Report.

About English

English is a West Germanic language that arose in the Anglo-Saxon kingdoms of England and spread into what was to become south-east Scotland under the influence of the Anglian medieval kingdom of Northumbria. Following the economic, political, military, scientific, cultural, and colonial influence of Great Britain and the United Kingdom from the 18th century, via the British Empire, and of the United States since the mid-20th century, it has been widely dispersed around the world, become the leading language of international discourse, and has acquired use as lingua franca in many regions. It is widely learned as a second language and used as an official language of the European Union and many Commonwealth countries, as well as in many world organizations. It is the third most natively spoken language in the world, after Mandarin Chinese and Spanish.

About London

London is the capital city of England and the United Kingdom. London has the biggest population within Europe with over 8.6 million residents. However, this is not the largest population London has seen, with the current population equivalent to the population 76 years ago. To cope with the extreme population of London, there are approximately 10000 miles of sewage pipes underneath London.

London has been a major settlement for two millennia. Founded by the Romans, who called it Londinium, London retains its square-mile mediaeval boundaries where you will find today’s financial and business hub of London. London is a leading global city, with its strengths in the arts, commerce, education, entertainment, fashion, finance, healthcare, media, professional services, research and development, tourism and transport all contributing to its prominence as a city. London is the world’s largest financial centre alongside New York and has the largest city GDP in Europe.

London is home to 43 universities which forms the largest concentration of higher education institutions in Europe. In 2012, London became the first city to host the Summer Olympic Games three times. London is also leading the way in transport and is home to London Heathrow airport which sees the largest amount of international passengers pass through it compared to any other airport in the world, and is also home to the London Underground which has annual passenger numbers of over 1.25 billion.

Assess Your English Level

The table below is based on recognised language levels used by various academic institutions across the European Union. A highly motivated student attending weekly sessions with their English language trainer in London can expect to move from one level to another after 50 hours providing they also commit to a similar number of hours of self-study.

Of course, some people find learning languages easier than others, and some students will have more opportunities to practise English in the course of their work and leisure, so these factors also need to be considered when trying to assess how long it will take to move from one level to another.
