In depth: Our English Courses in Liverpool

1:1 and Group English Courses in Liverpool

We offer our Liverpool English courses as either group lessons or one on one. Individual (1:1) lessons tend to promote faster learning as we can fully tailor the course content to your needs. However, group courses can be more affordable and offer more opportunities for conversational diversity. Group lessons are most successful if each and every student is fully committed. Also, to ensure that each student has sufficient access to the tutor, we keep groups at six members or less.

English Course Management

While you are learning with SIMON&SIMON, you will be in the capable hands of one of our multi-lingual, highly experienced Account Managers. Your Account Manager will send you a profile detailing your tutor’s training and experience before you begin your course. Following that, your Account Manager will send you your course plan, studying materials, and a progress report for every 30 to 40 hours of progress.

English Course Locations & Schedules

We have a network of tutors in place that allows us to service locations all across the world. These include major centres throughout Europe and various cities further afield. And, to ensure your convenience, lessons can be arranged either at your place of work or your residence. For more on our global reach, please contact our London office on 020 7821 0999.

Liverpool English Course Schedules

Our Liverpool English courses run from 8am to 6pm, Monday to Friday, throughout the year. We can also make arrangements for weekend lessons if need be. We put the choice of lesson frequency in your hands in order to suit your schedule, though many students experience the most progress through taking at least one 90-minute lesson per week. If you would like a more intensive course, we offer a 30-hour-per-week course, which runs from Monday to Friday for 6 hours per day. Lessons can be held at a Liverpool residential centre or at your business premises.

English Course Content

The content of your English course is based entirely on what you want to achieve. Some students wish to learn English for business purposes (so as to be comfortable with the dialect and terminology specific to marketing, finance, etc.), while other students wish to learn English for travel or immigration purposes. In either case, we assess your current level of English and your personal goals and use them to design a course that will help you reach your goals.

English Language Examination Courses

We are proud to announce that our tutors have helped our students achieve a 95% pass-rate in examinations. As such, if you require assistance preparing for an upcoming English examination, we can offer such assistance. Furthermore, we can register you for the examination, administer it, and issue your results certificate following your writing of the examination.

About English

English arose from the West Germanic languages of the Anglo-Saxons in the 5th century AD. It underwent several phases of development as Britain progressed from the medieval kingdom of Northumbria to the Empire of the 18th century. During the influence of the British Empire and its impact on politics, military progress, economics, culture, and science, English spread throughout much of the world. It furthered its impact in the 20th century thanks to the global influence of the US. Now, English is widely spoken throughout the world as both a native and a second language, and is the primary language of international discourse. In fact, the only languages with more native speakers than English are Mandarin Chinese and Spanish.

About Liverpool

Liverpool is a city and metropolitan borough of Merseyside, England, along the eastern side of the Mersey Estuary. It was founded as a borough in 1207 and was granted city status in 1880. Liverpool is the fourth largest city in the United Kingdom (third largest in England) and has a population of 435,500, and lies at the centre of the wider Liverpool Urban Area, which has a population of 816,216. Historically a part of Lancashire, the urbanisation and expansion of Liverpool were both largely brought about by the city’s status as a major port. By the 18th century, trade from the West Indies, Ireland and mainland Europe coupled with close links with the Atlantic Slave Trade furthered the economic expansion of Liverpool.

By the early 19th century, 40% of the world’s trade passed through Liverpool’s docks, contributing to Liverpool’s rise as a major city. Inhabitants of Liverpool are referred to as Liverpudlians but are also colloquially known as “Scousers”, in reference to the local dish known as “scouse”, a form of stew. The word “Scouse” has also become synonymous with the Liverpool accent and dialect. Liverpool’s status as a port city has contributed to its diverse population, which, historically, were drawn from a wide range of peoples, cultures, and religions, particularly those from Ireland. The city is also home to the oldest Black African community in the country and the oldest Mandarin community in Europe.
