In depth: Our English Courses in Glasgow

1:1 and Group English Courses in Glasgow

We offer our courses in either a 1:1 or a group setting, though we limit our groups to six people. Groups offer advantages in terms of affordability and the opportunity for more conversational partners. However, our students tend to make greater progress in a 1:1 setting as this allows us to tailor the course to their individual needs.

English Course Management

We aim to make your course as simple for you as possible, which is why we assign you one of our highly-experienced, multi-lingual Account Managers. Your Account Manager will direct your course and provide you with progress reports after every 30 to 40 hours of training. In addition, your Account Manager will be responsible for sending you important information, such as your tutor’s profile, your course plan, and your course material.

Glasgow English Course Schedules

We run our courses all year long, operating from Monday to Friday between 8 am and 6 pm, with weekend courses offered upon request. This gives you the freedom to decide on a schedule that works best for you. But, with this in mind, our students stand the best chance of making significant progress through booking at least one 90-minute course per week. Those wanting to progress quickly towards their goals can opt for our intensive course, which consists of 30 hours per week – 6 hours per day from Monday to Friday.

English Course Content

We don’t have set content for our courses. Instead, we will tailor the content of your course based on your specific needs. Perhaps you want to learn conversational English for social purposes, or perhaps you need to learn business English for professional purposes. We take your goals into account, assess your current level of English, and have our tutors create a course that will help you reach your goals quickly and effectively.

English Language Examination Courses

If you have an upcoming examination for business English or general English, we can help you prepare. Our tutors have exceptional experience, accounting for our students’ impressive 95% pass-rate. And, in addition to assisting you with exam preparation, we can register you for your exam, administer the exam, and issue your results certificate after the exam.

About English

Derived from the West Germanic languages of the Anglo-Saxon settlers, English began its life around the 5th century AD. It spread across the nation under the influence of the medieval kingdom of Northumbria, and developed over subsequent centuries, morphing as it did so. Modern English, its final form, was spread across the world in the 18th century as a result of the British Empire’s military, political, scientific, cultural, and economic influence. This was compounded by the influence of the USA in the mid-20th century. English is now widely spoken across the world as a native language, with only Mandarin Chinese and Spanish having more native speakers.

About Glasgow

Glasgow is the largest city in Scotland and third most populous in the United Kingdom. The city is situated on the River Clyde in the country’s west central lowlands. A person from Glasgow is known as a Glaswegian or as locals say “weegie”. Glasgow grew from the medieval Bishopric of Glasgow and the later establishment of the University of Glasgow in the 15th century, which subsequently became a major centre of the Scottish Enlightenment in the 18th century. From the 18th century the city also grew as one of Britain’s main hubs of transatlantic trade with British North America and the British West Indies. With the Industrial Revolution, the city and surrounding region shifted to become one of the world’s pre-eminent centres of Heavy Engineering, most notably in the Shipbuilding and Marine engineering industry, which produced many innovative and famous vessels. Glasgow was known as the “Second City of the British Empire” for much of the Victorian era and Edwardian period. Today it is one of Europe’s top twenty financial centres and is home to many of Scotland’s leading businesses. Glasgow is also ranked as the 57th most liveable city in the world.
