Prior to the start of your course, you will receive a profile with information on your English teacher’s background and experience.
We use a methodology that has revolutionised the way we learn languages, known as The Communicative Approach. This entails the whole lesson being taught predominantly in English from the very start. Soon your English skills will grow and you will become confident using the language in any given context.
You have a choice of either a 1:1 or group sessions. Most of our clients use 1:1, however the group sessions can also be of good value. The group session numbers should be kept to 6 or less for the teacher to give good quality 1:1 time to each student. Those who take the 1:1 course will experience quicker progression as the lessons can be fully tailored to your every need.
Each course at SIMON & SIMON is overseen by one of our highly professional, experienced and multi-lingual Account Managers. Prior to the course you are sent a profile of your English teacher stating their experience and background which is then followed by a Course Plan, course materials and a Progress Report after every 30 – 40 hours of training.
We have a global network of language trainers enabling us to arrange your English course in almost any major European city, or even further abroad. You have the option of your English language lesson taking place in the comfort of your own home or at your office to minimise travel. Our English courses run throughout the year. The vast majority of our students take part in at least one 90-minute lesson a week but many will attend more than one session, if work commitments allow. The English programmes run between 8am to 6pm Monday to Friday. Our lessons are also available at weekends on request. We also run intensive English language courses which are 30 hours per week, 6 hours a day, Monday to Friday. This can be held on clients’ premises or at a residential centre in within Bristol.
Before you start your course you will be assessed on your level of English and we will discuss what you would like to focus on. Your ultimate goal may be to just gain every day English skills or it may be more advanced like gaining the ability to discuss banking, finance or marketing. Bristol is a city, unitary authority area and ceremonial county in South West England, with an estimated population of 433,100 for the unitary authority in 2009, and a surrounding Larger Urban Zone (LUZ) with an estimated 1,006,600 residents, it is England’s sixth, and the United Kingdom’s eighth most populous city, one of the group of English Core Cities and the most populous city in South West England.
Bristol received a Royal Charter in 1155 and was granted County status in 1373. From the 13th century, for half a millennium, it ranked amongst the top three English cities after London, alongside York and Norwich, on the basis of tax receipts, until the rapid rise of Liverpool, Birmingham and Manchester during the Industrial Revolution in the latter part of the 18th century. The table below is based on recognised language levels used by various academic institutions across the European Union. A highly motivated student attending weekly sessions with their English language trainer in Bristol can expect to move from one level to another after 50 hours providing they also commit to a similar number of hours of self-study.
