In recent years, the technique of teaching languages has improved enormously. Now, learning a language is a lot more fun and much more rewarding for the student. We now use a technique called The Communicative Approach, which is where the whole lesson is conducted almost entirely in Bosnian. By immersing yourself into the language in this way, you will find yourself making progress from the very first session and soon you will be confident in your Bosnian language skills in a variety of social and business situations.

In depth: Our Bosnian Courses for Business in Birmingham

1:1 and Group Bosnian Courses in Birmingham

Bosnian language courses by SIMON & SIMON have been honed down to give you the greatest progress and value for money.

While we offer learning options on both a 1:1 and group basis, we find that most of our learners benefit most from 1 to 1 language training courses.

Group training offers great value for money, but the commitment and organisation to ensure the participants all show up at the same time every week is a trade-off. We recommend no more than 6 participants in a group otherwise the quality of the learning will drop dramatically for all learners.

Bosnian Course Management

Every SIMON & SIMON language course is overseen by one of our highly experienced Account Managers, all of whom are multi-lingual.

At the start of your Bosnian language course we will send you a profile on your trainer, followed by a Course Plan and relevant course materials, and then a Progress Report after every 40 hours of training. You will also receive a copy of our quarterly newsletter, Breaking the Language Barrier, featuring a superb prize draw and invaluable weblinks to language learning sources.

About Bosnian

Bosnian is a name commonly used for Serbo-Croatian as spoken by Bosniaks. As a standardized form of the Shtokavian dialect, it is one of three Serbo-Croatian standards used officially in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The same subdialect of Shtokavian is also the basis of standard Croatian, Serbian, and Montenegrin, so all are mutually intelligible. Up until the dissolution of former SFR Yugoslavia, they were treated as a unitary Serbo-Croatian language, and that term is still used to refer to the common base (vocabulary, grammar and syntax) of what are today officially four national standards. The Bosnian standard uses both Latin and Cyrillic alphabet.

About Birmingham

Birmingham is a city in the West Midlands, England, and holds the largest population outside of London, in the UK. Developed from a medium-sized market town, Birmingham grew to international prominence during the 18th century, at the heart of the industrial revolution.

By 1791, Birmingham, was recognised as “the first manufacturing town in the world”. Birmingham holds the second largest metropolitan economy in the UK, with a GDP of $121.1bn in 2014. Birmingham’s six universities make it the largest centre for higher education outside of London in the country. Birmingham has vibrant and influential grassroots in the art, music, literary and culinary scenes.

Birmingham is home to an extensive canal system, which was completed by the 1820s and gave greater access to natural resources and fuel for industries, Birmingham has more miles of canal than Venice. Birmingham’s economy today is dominated by the service sector, which in 2012 accounted for 88% of the city’s employment. Birmingham as a settlement dates back to the Anglo-Saxon era, but there is substantial evidence to suggest a short-lived influx of population occurred between 1700BC and 1000BC, this could have possibly been caused due to conflict or immigration in the surrounding areas.

Birmingham is the youngest city in Europe, with under 25’s accounting for nearly 40% of its population. Although a major city during the industrial revolution, Birmingham is home to some 8,000 acres of parks and open space. An estimated 40% of the UK’s jewellery is produced in Birmingham.

Assess Your Bosnian Level

The table below is based on recognised language levels used by various academic institutions across the European Union. A highly motivated student attending weekly sessions with their Bosnian language trainer can expect to move from one level to another after 50 hours providing they also commit to a similar number of hours of self-study.

Of course, some people find learning languages easier than others, and some students will have more opportunities to practise Bosnian in the course of their work and leisure, so these factors also need to be considered when trying to assess how long it will take to move from one level to another.
