SIMON & SIMON’s team of qualified native Vietnamese speaking teachers average 15 years of experience. Professionals and private individuals from all over the UK have benefited from SIMON & SIMON’s Vietnamese language courses, all of which are tailor-made to reflect each student's level of experience. We consistently receive outstanding feedback from our clients about our Vietnamese tutors. Each student is sent a specific profile on the experience and background of their Vietnamese tutor before they start their course of lessons.

If the only experience you have of studying a language is from your time in school, you may not know that there has been a revolution in the teaching of modern languages so that it is both more fun and more worthwhile. Your Vietnamese teacher in Reading will be using the Communicative Approach, where your lessons will, with few exceptions, be conducted in Vietnamese. You will see your progress from that very first lesson and will soon be confident enough to conduct business or talk socially in Vietnamese.

We offer Vietnamese courses as group sessions or on a 1:1 basis/ Most of our clients offer their employees 1:1 Vietnamese training, however, if planned carefully, with participants numbering 6 or less who commit to meeting every week, group sessions can be good value for money. Those who learn Vietnamese at Reading on a 1:1 basis will find that they progress more quickly, as the lessons can be specifically tailored for their individual needs, strengths and weaknesses.

Vietnamese Course Management

One of our highly experienced, multilingual Account managers oversees each SIMON & SIMON Vietnamese language course. On starting your Vietnamese course you will receive various materials including a profile on your trainer, a Course Plan and course materials and a Progress Report on every 40 hours of your training. Breaking the Language Barrier, our quarterly newsletter, which contains weblinks to various language learning sources and a prize draw, will also be sent to you.

We have a global network of language trainers so our Vietnamese language courses can be arranged for almost any major European city, or even further abroad. SIMON & SIMON have run Vietnamese language courses for clients in many diverse locations. Vietnamese language courses can be run in your home for your convenience, but many of our clients prefer to run them in their offices so as to minimise travel. For a list of the locations of the full-time residential Vietnamese language courses that we offer, contact our office.

Reading Vietnamese Course Schedules

We run our Vietnamese language courses in Reading all through the year. Many of our students, if work commitments allow, will attend more than one session weekly, and the vast majority take part in at least one 90-minute lesson weekly. We also arrange weekend Vietnamese courses on request. Our Vietnamese programs commence from 8am to 8pm Monday to Friday. Intensive 30 hour per week Vietnamese language courses, held on clients’ premises or at residential centres in the UK or abroad, are also available on a 6 hours per day basis, Monday through Friday.

Whatever your personal level of experience and future goals, your Vietnamese course will be customised for you. Before you start the course we will assess your level of Vietnamese and discuss in detail what you would like to focus on. You may desire simply to gain everyday Vietnamese skills from the level of a complete beginner, or you may have more experience in Vietnamese and want to improve your ability to discuss banking, finance or marketing. You may want to develop improved pronunciation and comprehension skills or improve your Vietnamese for use in negotiations and meetings. Whatever your goals and needs, our highly experienced Vietnamese language trainers will tailor your Vietnamese course so that your goals will be met quickly.

Vietnamese Language Examination Courses

If you are taking a Vietnamese examination, for business or other reasons, we are happy to help you with your preparations. We are very proud of the 95% pass rate of our students in language examinations. We believe this highlights the value of working with Vietnamese teachers in Reading whose experience is above average. SIMON & SIMON can also register you for your Vietnamese examination, administer the examination and issue you your results.

The table below is based on recognised language levels used by various academic institutions accross the European Union. A highly motivated student attending weekly sessions with their language trainer can expect to move from one level to another after 50 hours providing they also commit to a similar number of hours of self-study.

Of course, some people find learning languages easier than others, and some students will have more opportunities to practise the language in the course of their work and leisure, so these factors also need to be considered when trying to assess how long it will take to move from one level to another.

Back to top of Vietnamese Courses Reading

Vietnamese is the national and official language of Vietnam. It is the mother tongue of 86% of Vietnam's population, and of about three million overseas Vietnamese. It is also spoken as a second language by many ethnic minorities of Vietnam. It is part of the Austro-Asiatic language family, of which it has the most speakers by a significant margin (several times larger than the other Austroasiatic languages put together). Much of Vietnamese vocabulary has been borrowed from Chinese, most notably Cantonese, especially words that denote abstract ideas (in the same way European languages borrow from Latin and Greek), and it was formerly written using the Chinese writing system, albeit in a modified format and was given vernacular pronunciation.

Reading is a large town and unitary authority area in England, located at the confluence of the River Thames and River Kennet, and on both the Great Western Main Line railway and the M4 motorway, some 40 miles (64 km) west of London. For ceremonial purposes it is in the Royal County of Berkshire and has served as the county town since 1867. Reading was an important national centre in the medieval period, as the site of an important monastery with strong royal connections. Today it remains a commercial centre, with links to information technology and insurance. Reading also hosts two universities, a large student population, and is home to one of England's biggest music festivals. The settlement was founded at the confluence of the River Thames and River Kennet in the 8th century as Readingum. The name probably comes from the Readingas, an Anglo-Saxon tribe whose name means "Reada's People" in Old English, or (less probably) the Celtic Rhydd-Inge, "Ford over the River". The name of the settlement was derived from an earlier folk, or tribal, name. Anglo-Saxon names ending in -ingas originally referred not to a place but to a people, in this case specifically the descendants or followers of a man named Reada, literally "The Red One."
