The way that modern languages are taught has gone through a revolution in the past few years. If you have only learned languages at school you will find that the experience now is vastly more fun and worthwhile. The Communicative Approach means that your Vietnamese lessons in Isle-of-Wight will be almost entirely through the medium of Vietnamese. You will feel that you are making real progress, even in the first lesson, and will soon communicate in Vietnamese with confidence, in a range of social and business environments.

Both 1:1 and group formats are available for our Vietnamese language courses. While most of our clients offer 1:1 Vietnamese training, the group format can offer great value for money. If you want groups to be successful, the members must commit to the weekly meetings and we recommend keeping the number of participants below 7. Progress is faster for those who learn Vietnamese in Isle-of-Wight on a 1:1 basis as the lessons are individually tailored for their particular needs, strengths and weaknesses.

Vietnamese Course Management

One of our highly experienced, multilingual Account managers oversees each SIMON & SIMON Vietnamese language course. Breaking the Language Barrier, our quarterly newsletter, which contains weblinks to various language learning sources and a prize draw, will also be sent to you.

Isle-of-Wight Vietnamese Course Schedules

Our Vietnamese language courses in Isle-of-Wight go on all year. Some of our students attend more than one 90-minute weekly session if work circumstances allow, and most will attend at least one per week. Weekend Courses in Vietnamese can be arranged on request. Our Vietnamese courses are available 12 hours a day, from 8am to 8pm Monday through Friday. 30 hour per week intensive Vietnamese courses can be held on clients’ premises or in residential centres in the UK or abroad. These courses take 6 hours per day, Monday through Friday.

We will tailor your Vietnamese language course for your specific aims and level of knowledge. Before you start your Vietnamese language course we will assess your goals and level of Vietnamese experience. Your desire to learn Vietnamese may be simply to develop basic skills, or you may have some level of proficiency and wish to increase your ability to use Vietnamese to discuss business. You may want to develop your language skills so that you can use Vietnamese in negotiations and meetings or improve your pronunciation and telephone skills. No matter what goals you have, you can be confident of our Vietnamese trainers experience and that your Vietnamese language course is tailored to your needs and your goals will be quickly met.

Vietnamese Language Examination Courses

Our students’ pass rate for Vietnamese examinations is at 95%, and we are happy to help with the preparations for any such examination. Our high pass rate shows the value of working with Vietnamese teachers in Isle-of-Wight who have a higher level of experience than average. SIMON & SIMON also arrange registration for Vietnamese examinations as well as administering the examination and issuing the results.

The table below is based on recognised language levels used by various academic institutions accross the European Union. A highly motivated student attending weekly sessions with their language trainer can expect to move from one level to another after 50 hours providing they also commit to a similar number of hours of self-study.

Of course, some people find learning languages easier than others, and some students will have more opportunities to practise the language in the course of their work and leisure, so these factors also need to be considered when trying to assess how long it will take to move from one level to another.

Vietnamese is the national and official language of Vietnam. It is the mother tongue of 86% of Vietnam's population, and of about three million overseas Vietnamese. It is also spoken as a second language by many ethnic minorities of Vietnam. It is part of the Austro-Asiatic language family, of which it has the most speakers by a significant margin (several times larger than the other Austroasiatic languages put together). Much of Vietnamese vocabulary has been borrowed from Chinese, most notably Cantonese, especially words that denote abstract ideas (in the same way European languages borrow from Latin and Greek), and it was formerly written using the Chinese writing system, albeit in a modified format and was given vernacular pronunciation.

The Isle of Wight is a county and the largest island of England, located in the English Channel, 3–5 miles (5–8 km) off the south coast of the county of Hampshire, separated from the mainland by a strait called the Solent. The island is known for its natural beauty, its sailing based at the town of Cowes, and its resorts, which have been holiday destinations since Victorian times. The Island has a rich history, including a brief status as an independent kingdom in the 15th century. Until 1995, in common with Jersey and Guernsey, the island had its own Governor - most notably Lord Mountbatten from 1969–1974, after which he became Lord Lieutenant until his assassination in 1979. It was home to the poet Alfred Lord Tennyson, and to Queen Victoria, who built her much loved summer residence and final home Osborne House at East Cowes. The island's maritime and industrial history encompasses boat building, sail making, the manufacture of flying boats, the world's first hovercraft and the testing and development of Britain's space rockets. It is home to the Isle of Wight International Jazz Festival, Bestival and the recently-revived Isle of Wight Festival, which, in 1970, was the largest rock music event ever held. The island has some exceptional wildlife and is one of the richest locations of dinosaur fossils in Europe. In the past, the Isle of Wight has been part of Hampshire. In 1890, it became an independent administrative county, though it continued to share the Lord Lieutenant of Hampshire.
