Vietnamese Courses for Business in Edinburgh

All over the UK, private individuals and professionals in a variety of companies have gained benefits by taking part in a Vietnamese Language Course from SIMON & SIMON. With an average of 15 years’ experience, the native Vietnamese speakers of SIMON & SIMON’s qualified teaching team tailor each course for the specific requirements of the student, from absolute novices to those with some experience. Our clients reliably give excellent feedback on our Vietnamese teachers. Each of our students receives an information profile on the background and experience of their Vietnamese teacher before they commence their Vietnamese lessons.

If the only experience you have of studying a language is from your time in school, you may not know that there has been a revolution in the teaching of modern languages so that it is both more fun and more worthwhile. Your Vietnamese teacher in Edinburgh will be using the Communicative Approach, where your lessons will, with few exceptions, be conducted in Vietnamese. You will see your progress from that very first lesson and will soon be confident enough to conduct business or talk socially in Vietnamese.

We offer Vietnamese courses as group sessions or on a 1:1 basis/ Most of our clients offer their employees 1:1 Vietnamese training, however, if planned carefully, with participants numbering 6 or less who commit to meeting every week, group sessions can be good value for money. Those who learn Vietnamese at Edinburgh on a 1:1 basis will find that they progress more quickly, as the lessons can be specifically tailored for their individual needs, strengths and weaknesses.

Vietnamese Course Management

Each of SIMON & SIMON’s Vietnamese languages courses is the responsibility of a multi-lingual, very experienced Account Manager. When you start your Vietnamese course, you will receive your trainer’s profile. Thereafter we will send you a Course Plan, materials for the course and, after each 40 hours of training, a Progress Report. Our quarterly newsletter, Breaking the Language Barrier, will also reach you, and contains a prize draw as well as the weblinks of language learning resources.

SIMON & SIMON has arranged Vietnamese language courses for clients in numerous locations, and with our global network of language trainers we can organise a Vietnamese language course for you wherever you are - in almost any major city in the UK, Europe and beyond. The vast majority of our Vietnamese lessons take place at our clients' offices, removing the need for you to travel, but Vietnamese lessons can take place in your home if that is more convenient. We can also arrange full-time residential Vietnamese language courses for you - just contact our office for information on available destinations.

Edinburgh Vietnamese Course Schedules

Our Vietnamese language courses in Edinburgh take place throughout the year. Many of our students try to attend more than one weekly lesson if work commitments allow, and most will attend at least one session of 90-minutes duration per week. If you would like a Weekend Course, one can be arranged. Our Vietnamese daytime courses run from 8am through to 8pm, Monday - Friday. We also provide Intensive Vietnamese language courses on clients’ premises or in residential centres both in the UK and abroad. These courses run for 30 hours of the week, 6 hours a day from Monday to Friday.

The Vietnamese language course that you undertake will be customised for your Vietnamese level and personal goals. Before you start the course, we will speak to you about your desired focus and assess you Vietnamese level. You may have little or no experience of Vietnamese and only want basic conversational skills or you may be more proficient and desire more fluency with which to discuss business. You may want to raise your Vietnamese skills for use in meetings and negotiations or rather develop increased comprehension and pronunciation skills. Whatever your objectives, our Vietnamese language trainers are highly experienced, and you can be confident that your personalised Vietnamese course will help you to meet your goals quickly.

Vietnamese Language Examination Courses

SIMON & SIMON also assists in preparation for Vietnamese examinations, whether for business or personal qualification. We believe that our 95% pass rate for language examinations is a reflection of our policy of working with Vietnamese teachers in Edinburgh who possess above average experience. Registration for and administration of Vietnamese examinations, along with the issuing of results certificates are all provided by SIMON & SIMON.

The table below is based on recognised language levels used by various academic institutions accross the European Union. A highly motivated student attending weekly sessions with their language trainer can expect to move from one level to another after 50 hours providing they also commit to a similar number of hours of self-study.

Of course, some people find learning languages easier than others, and some students will have more opportunities to practise the language in the course of their work and leisure, so these factors also need to be considered when trying to assess how long it will take to move from one level to another.

Back to top of Vietnamese Courses Edinburgh

Vietnamese is the national and official language of Vietnam. It is the mother tongue of 86% of Vietnam's population, and of about three million overseas Vietnamese. It is also spoken as a second language by many ethnic minorities of Vietnam. It is part of the Austro-Asiatic language family, of which it has the most speakers by a significant margin (several times larger than the other Austroasiatic languages put together). Much of Vietnamese vocabulary has been borrowed from Chinese, most notably Cantonese, especially words that denote abstract ideas (in the same way European languages borrow from Latin and Greek), and it was formerly written using the Chinese writing system, albeit in a modified format and was given vernacular pronunciation.

Edinburgh is the capital city of Scotland, the second largest city in Scotland and the seventh-most populous in the United Kingdom. The City of Edinburgh Council is one of Scotland's 32 local government council areas. The council area includes urban Edinburgh and a 30-square-mile (78 km2) rural area. Located in the south-east of Scotland, Edinburgh lies on the east coast of the Central Belt, along the Firth of Forth, near the North Sea. Owing to its spectacular, rugged setting and vast collection of Medieval and Georgian architecture, including numerous stone tenements, it is often considered one of the most picturesque cities in Europe. Edinburgh is the seat of the Scottish Parliament. The city was one of the major centres of the Enlightenment, led by the University of Edinburgh, earning it the nickname Athens of the North. The Old Town and New Town districts of Edinburgh were listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1995. There are over 4,500 listed buildings within the city. In May 2010, it had a total of 40 conservation areas covering 23% of the building stock and 23% of the population, the highest such ratios of any major city in the UK. In the 2009 mid year population estimates, Edinburgh had a total resident population of 477,660. Edinburgh is well-known for the annual Edinburgh Festival, a collection of official and independent festivals held annually over about four weeks from early August.
