Many professionals in companies across the UK, as well as private individuals, have benefited from an Turkish Language Course with SIMON & SIMON. We have a terrific team of qualified native-speaker Turkish teachers, and with an average of 15 years' experience they will ensure you benefit from a course designed specifically around your needs, whether you are a complete beginner or an advanced learner with more specialised requirements. We consistently receive excellent feedback on our Turkish tutors from our clients, and we send our students a profile on their Turkish tutor prior to their Turkish lessons commencing, with information on the tutor's background and experience.

If the only experience you have of studying a language is from your time in school, you may not know that there has been a revolution in the teaching of modern languages so that it is both more fun and more worthwhile. Your Turkish teacher in York will be using the Communicative Approach, where your lessons will, with few exceptions, be conducted in Turkish. You will see your progress from that very first lesson and will soon be confident enough to conduct business or talk socially in Turkish.

The Turkish courses that we offer can be run as 1:1 or group sessions. While most of our clients use 1:1 Turkish training for their employees, group sessions can be good value. Participants numbers should be kept to 6 or less, and they will need to commit to meeting every week. If you require faster progress, 1:1 Turkish courses at York are more suitable as the lessons and course can be tailored to the individual’s needs while focusing on their specific weaknesses and strengths.

Turkish Course Management

One of our highly experienced, multilingual Account managers oversees each SIMON & SIMON Turkish language course. On starting your Turkish course you will receive various materials including a profile on your trainer, a Course Plan and course materials and a Progress Report on every 40 hours of your training. Breaking the Language Barrier, our quarterly newsletter, which contains weblinks to various language learning sources and a prize draw, will also be sent to you.

SIMON & SIMON Turkish language courses have been arranged for clients in various locations. We have a global network of trainers and wherever you are, we will be able to organise a Turkish language course for you, not only in the UK but in almost any of the major cities in Europe and beyond. Most of our Turkish courses are run at the offices of our clients so that you do not have to travel, but we are happy to arrange Turkish training sessions for you in your home. Full-time Turkish courses can be arranged in a residential setting for you. Our office has information on the locations we offer.

York Turkish Course Schedules

Our Turkish language courses in York take place throughout the year. Many of our students try to attend more than one weekly lesson if work commitments allow, and most will attend at least one session of 90-minutes duration per week. If you would like a Weekend Course, one can be arranged. Our Turkish daytime courses run from 8am through to 8pm, Monday - Friday. We also provide Intensive Turkish language courses on clients’ premises or in residential centres both in the UK and abroad. These courses run for 30 hours of the week, 6 hours a day from Monday to Friday.

The Turkish language course that you undertake will be customised for your Turkish level and personal goals. Before you start the course, we will speak to you about your desired focus and assess you Turkish level. You may have little or no experience of Turkish and only want basic conversational skills or you may be more proficient and desire more fluency with which to discuss business. You may want to raise your Turkish skills for use in meetings and negotiations or rather develop increased comprehension and pronunciation skills. Whatever your objectives, our Turkish language trainers are highly experienced, and you can be confident that your personalised Turkish course will help you to meet your goals quickly.

Turkish Language Examination Courses

SIMON & SIMON also assists in preparation for Turkish examinations, whether for business or personal qualification. We believe that our 95% pass rate for language examinations is a reflection of our policy of working with Turkish teachers in York who possess above average experience. Registration for and administration of Turkish examinations, along with the issuing of results certificates are all provided by SIMON & SIMON.

The table below is based on recognised language levels used by various academic institutions accross the European Union. A highly motivated student attending weekly sessions with their language trainer can expect to move from one level to another after 50 hours providing they also commit to a similar number of hours of self-study.

Of course, some people find learning languages easier than others, and some students will have more opportunities to practise the language in the course of their work and leisure, so these factors also need to be considered when trying to assess how long it will take to move from one level to another.

Back to top of Turkish Courses York

Turkish is spoken as a native language by over 83 million people worldwide, making it the most commonly spoken of the Turkic languages. Its speakers are located predominantly in Turkey and Northern Cyprus with smaller groups in Iraq, Greece, Bulgaria, the Republic of Macedonia, Kosovo, Albania and other parts of Eastern Europe. Turkish is also spoken by several million immigrants in Western Europe, particularly in Germany.

York is a walled city, situated at the confluence of the Rivers Ouse and Foss in North Yorkshire, England. The city has a rich heritage and has provided the backdrop to major political events throughout much of its two millennia of existence. The city was founded by the Romans in 71 AD. They called it Eboracum, a name perhaps derived from one used by the British tribes who inhabited the area. The Romans made it the capital of their Province of Britannia Inferior. While the Roman colonia and fortress were located on high ground, by 400 the town itself was victim to periodic flooding from the rivers Ouse and Foss and lay abandoned. In the early 5th century the area was settled by Angles, who called the town Eoforwic. Reclamation of the flooded parts of the town were initiated in the 7th century under King Edwin. The city came to be the episcopal, and later, royal centre of the Kingdom of Northumbria.
