Private individuals and professionals in companies all over the UK have profited from undertaking a Turkish Language Course with SIMON & SIMON. Averaging 15 years of experience, our native Turkish speaking qualified teachers construct your course so that your individual requirements are met, no matter what your level of experience. Our Turkish teachers receive excellent feedback from our clients. A profile, containing information about the Turkish teacher’s background and experience, is sent to each student before the Turkish lessons start.

Maybe your only knowledge of studying languages is what you remember from school. Modern language teaching has recently changed to be much more entertaining and rewarding. Your Turkish lessons in Durham will be carried out almost completely in Turkish. This is the Communicative Approach and by this method you will notice progress from the initial lesson. You will soon feel confident and able to use Turkish to communicate in various business and social situations.

We offer Turkish courses as group sessions or on a 1:1 basis/ Most of our clients offer their employees 1:1 Turkish training, however, if planned carefully, with participants numbering 6 or less who commit to meeting every week, group sessions can be good value for money. Those who learn Turkish at Durham on a 1:1 basis will find that they progress more quickly, as the lessons can be specifically tailored for their individual needs, strengths and weaknesses.

Turkish Course Management

A multi-lingual Account Manager with extensive experience is responsible for each SIMON & SIMON Turkish language course. A profile on your trainer, Course Plan and course materials will be sent to you when you start your Turkish course. After every 40 hours of training you will receive a Progress Report. We will also send you Breaking the Language Barrier, our quarterly newsletter, which contains a wonderful prize draw and valuable language learning resource weblinks.

Turkish language courses have been run by SIMON & SIMON in many locations. Our global network of language trainers means that any major city in the UK Europe, and beyond can hold your Turkish language course. We can arrange your Turkish language lessons for your own home, but many of our clients like to run them in their offices so as to minimise travel. Residential full-time Turkish language courses are also available. Our office can discuss available locations with you.

Durham Turkish Course Schedules

Our Turkish language courses in Durham take place throughout the year. Many of our students try to attend more than one weekly lesson if work commitments allow, and most will attend at least one session of 90-minutes duration per week. If you would like a Weekend Course, one can be arranged. Our Turkish daytime courses run from 8am through to 8pm, Monday - Friday. We also provide Intensive Turkish language courses on clients’ premises or in residential centres both in the UK and abroad. These courses run for 30 hours of the week, 6 hours a day from Monday to Friday.

The Turkish language course that you undertake will be customised for your Turkish level and personal goals. Before you start the course, we will speak to you about your desired focus and assess you Turkish level. You may have little or no experience of Turkish and only want basic conversational skills or you may be more proficient and desire more fluency with which to discuss business. You may want to raise your Turkish skills for use in meetings and negotiations or rather develop increased comprehension and pronunciation skills. Whatever your objectives, our Turkish language trainers are highly experienced, and you can be confident that your personalised Turkish course will help you to meet your goals quickly.

Turkish Language Examination Courses

SIMON & SIMON also assists in preparation for Turkish examinations, whether for business or personal qualification. We believe that our 95% pass rate for language examinations is a reflection of our policy of working with Turkish teachers in Durham who possess above average experience. Registration for and administration of Turkish examinations, along with the issuing of results certificates are all provided by SIMON & SIMON.

The table below is based on recognised language levels used by various academic institutions accross the European Union. A highly motivated student attending weekly sessions with their language trainer can expect to move from one level to another after 50 hours providing they also commit to a similar number of hours of self-study.

Of course, some people find learning languages easier than others, and some students will have more opportunities to practise the language in the course of their work and leisure, so these factors also need to be considered when trying to assess how long it will take to move from one level to another.

Back to top of Turkish Courses Durham

Turkish is spoken as a native language by over 83 million people worldwide, making it the most commonly spoken of the Turkic languages. Its speakers are located predominantly in Turkey and Northern Cyprus with smaller groups in Iraq, Greece, Bulgaria, the Republic of Macedonia, Kosovo, Albania and other parts of Eastern Europe. Turkish is also spoken by several million immigrants in Western Europe, particularly in Germany.

Durham is a city in the North East of England. It is within the County Durham local government district, and is the county town of the larger ceremonial county. It lies to the south of Newcastle Upon Tyne, Chester-le-Street and Sunderland and to the north of Darlington. Durham is well known for its Norman Cathedral and 11th-century castle, and is home to Durham University. HM Prison Durham is also located close to the city centre. Archeological evidence suggests a history of settlement in the area since roughly 2000 BC. The present city can clearly be traced back to AD 995, when a group of monks from Lindisfarne chose the strategic high peninsula as a place to settle with the body of Saint Cuthbert, that had previously lain in Chester-le-Street, founding a church there. Local legend states that the city was founded in A.D. 995 by divine intervention. The 12th-century chronicler, Symeon of Durham, recounts that after wandering in the north, Saint Cuthbert’s bier miraculously came to a halt at the hill of Warden Law and, despite the effort of the congregation, would not move. Aldhun, Bishop of Chester-le-Street and leader of the order, decreed a holy fast of three days, accompanied by prayers to the saint. Saint Bede recounts that during this fast, Saint Cuthbert appeared to the monk Eadmer with instructions that the coffin should be taken to Dun Holm.
