Thai Course Management

Every SIMON & SIMON Thai language course has a highly experienced, multi-lingual Account Manager who oversees it. When your Thai course starts you will be sent a profile on your trainer, materials for your course and a Course Plan as well as a Progress Report for every 40 hours of training. Breaking the Language Barrier, our quarterly newsletter that you will also receive, contains a prize draw as well as weblinks to a number of learning resources.

Our global network of language trainers means that any major city in the UK Europe, and beyond can hold your Thai language course. We can arrange your Thai language lessons for your own home, but many of our clients like to run them in their offices so as to minimise travel. Sussex Thai Course Schedules

Our Thai language courses in Sussex run throughout the year. The majority of our students attend at least one 90-minute session per week and many students will try to do more than one session depending on work commitments. Our Thai teachers are available Monday - Friday from 8am - 8pm, and Weekend Courses can also be arranged on request. Our intensive Thai language courses run for 30 hours per week, (6 hours per day Monday - Friday), and take place on our clients' premises or at a residential centre here in the UK or abroad.

The content of your Thai language course will reflect your level and your particular objectives. We will assess your Thai language level before your course, and discuss with you in detail the subject areas you wish to focus on. You may be a complete beginner looking for day-to-day Thai survival language skills, or a more proficient Thai speaker needing to improve your fluency when discussing areas such as law, banking, finance, insurance, sales, travel, marketing, and administration. You may want to focus on improving your Thai for meetings, discussions and negotiations, or to concentrate on improving your listening comprehension, pronunciation and telephone skills. Thai Language Examination Courses

We can also help prepare you for Thai examinations of a business or general nature. The table below is based on recognised language levels used by various academic institutions accross the European Union. A highly motivated student attending weekly sessions with their language trainer can expect to move from one level to another after 50 hours providing they also commit to a similar number of hours of self-study.

Of course, some people find learning languages easier than others, and some students will have more opportunities to practise the language in the course of their work and leisure, so these factors also need to be considered when trying to assess how long it will take to move from one level to another.

Thai is the national and official language of Thailand and the native language of the Thai people, Thailand's dominant ethnic group. Thai is a member of the Tai group of the Tai-Kadai language family. Historical linguists have been unable to definitively link the Tai-Kadai languages to any other language family. Some words in Thai are borrowed from Pali, Sanskrit and Old Khmer. It is a tonal and analytic language. Thai also has a complex orthography and relational markers. Thai is mutually intelligible with Lao, whereas the Isaan dialect is almost the same as Lao.

Sussex is an historic county in South East England corresponding roughly in area to the ancient Kingdom of Sussex. It is bounded on the north by Surrey, east by Kent, south by the English Channel, and west by Hampshire, and is divided for local government into West Sussex and East Sussex and the city of Brighton and Hove. The city of Brighton & Hove was created a unitary authority in 1997; and was granted City status in 2000. Until then Chichester had been Sussex's only city. The divisions of West Sussex and East Sussex were first established in 1189, and had obtained separate administrations (Quarter Sessions) by the 16th century. This situation was recognised by the County of Sussex Act 1865. Under the Local Government Act 1888 the two divisions became two administrative counties (along with three county boroughs: Brighton, Hastings and, from 1911, Eastbourne). The appellation Sussex remained in use as a ceremonial county until 1974, when the Lord-Lieutenant of Sussex was replaced with one each for East and West Sussex. The whole of Sussex has had a single police force since 1968.
