Most of our Thai courses are run at the offices of our clients so that you do not have to travel, but we are happy to arrange Thai training sessions for you in your home. Plymouth Thai Course Schedules

The Thai language courses in Plymouth that we run go on through the year. Each week, most of our students will attend at least one of our 90-minute lessons, but many will do more. We can easily arrange Weekend Courses for you. Thai courses run from Monday to Friday, any time from 8am to 8pm. Intensive Thai language courses can be arranged in residential centres abroad or in the UK, or on clients’ premises for 30 hours per week, 6 hours a day Monday to Friday.

Before you start your Thai language course we will assess your level of Thai and speak to you about your aims so that your Thai language course can be customised for you. You may have never been exposed to Thai before and wish to develop basic survival skills, or you may have some experience and wish to be able to speak more fluently in Thai when discussing business. You may want to further your ability to use Thai in negotiations and meetings or better your comprehension and pronunciation abilities. Whatever goals you may have, our experienced Thai language trainers will tailor your Thai course so that your goals can be quickly met.

Thai Language Examination Courses

We are happy to help in your preparation for any Thai examinations. The table below is based on recognised language levels used by various academic institutions accross the European Union. A highly motivated student attending weekly sessions with their language trainer can expect to move from one level to another after 50 hours providing they also commit to a similar number of hours of self-study.

Of course, some people find learning languages easier than others, and some students will have more opportunities to practise the language in the course of their work and leisure, so these factors also need to be considered when trying to assess how long it will take to move from one level to another.

Thai is the national and official language of Thailand and the native language of the Thai people, Thailand's dominant ethnic group. Thai is a member of the Tai group of the Tai-Kadai language family. Historical linguists have been unable to definitively link the Tai-Kadai languages to any other language family. Some words in Thai are borrowed from Pali, Sanskrit and Old Khmer. It is a tonal and analytic language. Thai also has a complex orthography and relational markers. Thai is mutually intelligible with Lao, whereas the Isaan dialect is almost the same as Lao.

Plymouth is a city and unitary authority area on the coast of Devon, England, about 190 miles (310 km) south-west of London. It is built between the mouths of the rivers Plym to the east and Tamar to the west, where they join Plymouth Sound. Since 1967 the City of Plymouth has included the suburbs of Plympton and Plymstock, which are on the east side of the River Plym. Plymouth's history goes back to the Bronze Age, when its first settlement grew at Mount Batten. This settlement continued to grow as a trading post for the Roman Empire, until the more prosperous village of Sutton, the current Plymouth, surpassed it. In 1620 the Pilgrim Fathers left Plymouth for the New World and established Plymouth Colony – the second English settlement in what is now the United States of America. During the English Civil War the town was held by the Parliamentarians and was besieged between 1642 and 1646. Throughout the Industrial Revolution Plymouth grew as a major shipping port, handling imports and passengers from the Americas, while the neighbouring town of Devonport grew as an important Royal Naval shipbuilding and dockyard town. The county boroughs of Plymouth and Devonport, and the urban district of East Stonehouse were merged in 1914 to form the single county borough of Plymouth – collectively referred to as The Three Towns.
