SIMON & SIMON’s team of qualified native Thai speaking teachers average 15 years of experience. Professionals and private individuals from all over the UK have benefited from SIMON & SIMON’s Thai language courses, all of which are tailor-made to reflect each student's level of experience. We consistently receive outstanding feedback from our clients about our Thai tutors. Each student is sent a specific profile on the experience and background of their Thai tutor before they start their course of lessons.

If the only experience you have of studying a language is from your time in school, you may not know that there has been a revolution in the teaching of modern languages so that it is both more fun and more worthwhile. Your Thai teacher in Norfolk will be using the Communicative Approach, where your lessons will, with few exceptions, be conducted in Thai. You will see your progress from that very first lesson and will soon be confident enough to conduct business or talk socially in Thai.

Both 1:1 and group formats are available for our Thai language courses. While most of our clients offer 1:1 Thai training, the group format can offer great value for money. If you want groups to be successful, the members must commit to the weekly meetings and we recommend keeping the number of participants below 7. Progress is faster for those who learn Thai in Norfolk on a 1:1 basis as the lessons are individually tailored for their particular needs, strengths and weaknesses.

Thai Course Management

Every SIMON & SIMON Thai language course is overseen by one of our highly experienced Account Managers, all of whom are multi-lingual. At the start of your Thai language course we will send you a profile on your trainer, followed by a Course Plan and relevant course materials, and then a Progress Report after every 40 hours of training. You will also receive a copy of our quarterly newsletter, Breaking the Language Barrier, featuring a superb prize draw and invaluable weblinks to language learning sources.

The Thai language courses of SIMON & SIMON have been run in numerous locations. As we have a global network of language trainers your Thai language course can be arranged in major cities across Europe and further afield. Most of our clients arrange for their Thai lessons to be run in their offices so that there is less need for travel, but we can also run Thai lessons in your home. We also run residential full-time Thai language courses in a variety of locations which our office will be happy to inform you of.

Norfolk Thai Course Schedules

Our Thai language courses in Norfolk take place throughout the year. Many of our students try to attend more than one weekly lesson if work commitments allow, and most will attend at least one session of 90-minutes duration per week. If you would like a Weekend Course, one can be arranged. Our Thai daytime courses run from 8am through to 8pm, Monday - Friday. We also provide Intensive Thai language courses on clients’ premises or in residential centres both in the UK and abroad. These courses run for 30 hours of the week, 6 hours a day from Monday to Friday.

The Thai language course that you undertake will be customised for your Thai level and personal goals. Before you start the course, we will speak to you about your desired focus and assess you Thai level. You may have little or no experience of Thai and only want basic conversational skills or you may be more proficient and desire more fluency with which to discuss business. You may want to raise your Thai skills for use in meetings and negotiations or rather develop increased comprehension and pronunciation skills. Whatever your objectives, our Thai language trainers are highly experienced, and you can be confident that your personalised Thai course will help you to meet your goals quickly.

Thai Language Examination Courses

SIMON & SIMON also assists in preparation for Thai examinations, whether for business or personal qualification. We believe that our 95% pass rate for language examinations is a reflection of our policy of working with Thai teachers in Norfolk who possess above average experience. Registration for and administration of Thai examinations, along with the issuing of results certificates are all provided by SIMON & SIMON.

The table below is based on recognised language levels used by various academic institutions accross the European Union. A highly motivated student attending weekly sessions with their language trainer can expect to move from one level to another after 50 hours providing they also commit to a similar number of hours of self-study.

Of course, some people find learning languages easier than others, and some students will have more opportunities to practise the language in the course of their work and leisure, so these factors also need to be considered when trying to assess how long it will take to move from one level to another.

Back to top of Thai Courses Norfolk

Thai is the national and official language of Thailand and the native language of the Thai people, Thailand's dominant ethnic group. Thai is a member of the Tai group of the Tai-Kadai language family. Historical linguists have been unable to definitively link the Tai-Kadai languages to any other language family. Some words in Thai are borrowed from Pali, Sanskrit and Old Khmer. It is a tonal and analytic language. Thai also has a complex orthography and relational markers. Thai is mutually intelligible with Lao, whereas the Isaan dialect is almost the same as Lao.

Norfolk is a low-lying county in the East of England. It has borders with Lincolnshire to the west, Cambridgeshire to the west and southwest and Suffolk to the south. Its northern and eastern boundaries are the North Sea coast, including The Wash. The county town is Norwich. Norfolk is the fifth largest ceremonial county in England, with an area of 5,371 km² (2,074 sq mi). Of the 34 non-metropolitan English counties, Norfolk is the seventh most populous, with a population of 850,800 (mid 2008). However, as a largely rural county it has a low population density, 155 people per square kilometre (or 401 per square mile.) Norfolk has about one-thirtieth the population density of Central London, the tenth lowest density county in the country, with 38% of the county’s population living in the three major built up areas of Norwich (259,100), Great Yarmouth (71,700) and King's Lynn (43,100). The Broads, a well known network of rivers and lakes, is located on the county's east coast, bordering Suffolk. The area has the status of a National Park and is protected by the Broads Authority. Historical sites, such as those in the centre of Norwich, also contribute to tourism.
