Thai Course Management

One of our highly experienced, multilingual Account managers oversees each SIMON & SIMON Thai language course. On starting your Thai course you will receive various materials including a profile on your trainer, a Course Plan and course materials and a Progress Report on every 40 hours of your training. Breaking the Language Barrier, our quarterly newsletter, which contains weblinks to various language learning sources and a prize draw, will also be sent to you.

SIMON & SIMON’s Thai language courses have been run for clients in many different locations. With a global network of language trainers a Thai language course can be held in almost any major city throughout Europe and elsewhere. We can arrange Thai language courses in your home or, as many of our clients prefer, in your offices to remove the need for you to travel. Isle-of-Wight Thai Course Schedules

Our Thai language courses in Isle-of-Wight take place throughout the year. Many of our students try to attend more than one weekly lesson if work commitments allow, and most will attend at least one session of 90-minutes duration per week. If you would like a Weekend Course, one can be arranged. Our Thai daytime courses run from 8am through to 8pm, Monday - Friday. We also provide Intensive Thai language courses on clients’ premises or in residential centres both in the UK and abroad. These courses run for 30 hours of the week, 6 hours a day from Monday to Friday.

The Thai language course that you undertake will be customised for your Thai level and personal goals. Before you start the course, we will speak to you about your desired focus and assess you Thai level. You may have little or no experience of Thai and only want basic conversational skills or you may be more proficient and desire more fluency with which to discuss business. You may want to raise your Thai skills for use in meetings and negotiations or rather develop increased comprehension and pronunciation skills. Whatever your objectives, our Thai language trainers are highly experienced, and you can be confident that your personalised Thai course will help you to meet your goals quickly.

Thai Language Examination Courses

SIMON & SIMON also assists in preparation for Thai examinations, whether for business or personal qualification. We believe that our 95% pass rate for language examinations is a reflection of our policy of working with Thai teachers in Isle-of-Wight who possess above average experience. Registration for and administration of Thai examinations, along with the issuing of results certificates are all provided by SIMON & SIMON.

The table below is based on recognised language levels used by various academic institutions accross the European Union. A highly motivated student attending weekly sessions with their language trainer can expect to move from one level to another after 50 hours providing they also commit to a similar number of hours of self-study.

Of course, some people find learning languages easier than others, and some students will have more opportunities to practise the language in the course of their work and leisure, so these factors also need to be considered when trying to assess how long it will take to move from one level to another.

Thai is the national and official language of Thailand and the native language of the Thai people, Thailand's dominant ethnic group. Thai is a member of the Tai group of the Tai-Kadai language family. Historical linguists have been unable to definitively link the Tai-Kadai languages to any other language family. Some words in Thai are borrowed from Pali, Sanskrit and Old Khmer. It is a tonal and analytic language. Thai also has a complex orthography and relational markers. Thai is mutually intelligible with Lao, whereas the Isaan dialect is almost the same as Lao.

The Isle of Wight is a county and the largest island of England, located in the English Channel, 3–5 miles (5–8 km) off the south coast of the county of Hampshire, separated from the mainland by a strait called the Solent. The island is known for its natural beauty, its sailing based at the town of Cowes, and its resorts, which have been holiday destinations since Victorian times. The Island has a rich history, including a brief status as an independent kingdom in the 15th century. Until 1995, in common with Jersey and Guernsey, the island had its own Governor - most notably Lord Mountbatten from 1969–1974, after which he became Lord Lieutenant until his assassination in 1979. It was home to the poet Alfred Lord Tennyson, and to Queen Victoria, who built her much loved summer residence and final home Osborne House at East Cowes. The island has some exceptional wildlife and is one of the richest locations of dinosaur fossils in Europe. In the past, the Isle of Wight has been part of Hampshire. In 1890, it became an independent administrative county, though it continued to share the Lord Lieutenant of Hampshire.
