Thai Courses for Business in Glasgow

Please click a title below for further information:

Designed and customised for the individual student’s needs, SIMON & SIMON’s Thai courses, taught by a team of qualified native Thai speakers who average 15 years of experience, have already benefited professionals and non-professionals across the UK. Courses cater for all levels of experience. The feedback on our Thai tutors that we receive from our clients is consistently excellent. Prior to the start of your Thai course, you will be sent a profile on your specific Thai teacher’s experience and background.

If you have only studied languages before at school you will find that teaching approaches to modern language training have changed enormously in recent years - it's now a lot more fun and a far more rewarding experience! Your teacher will conduct your Thai lesson in Glasgow almost entirely in Thai - a method known as the Communicative Approach - and you will find yourself making progress from the very first lesson and soon growing in the confidence to communicate in Thai in a variety of social and business situations.

The Thai courses that we offer can be run as 1:1 or group sessions. While most of our clients use 1:1 Thai training for their employees, group sessions can be good value. Participants numbers should be kept to 6 or less, and they will need to commit to meeting every week. If you require faster progress, 1:1 Thai courses at Glasgow are more suitable as the lessons and course can be tailored to the individual’s needs while focusing on their specific weaknesses and strengths.

Thai Course Management

Every SIMON & SIMON Thai language course is overseen by one of our highly experienced Account Managers, all of whom are multi-lingual. At the start of your Thai language course we will send you a profile on your trainer, followed by a Course Plan and relevant course materials, and then a Progress Report after every 40 hours of training. You will also receive a copy of our quarterly newsletter, Breaking the Language Barrier, featuring a superb prize draw and invaluable weblinks to language learning sources.

SIMON & SIMON has arranged Thai language courses for clients in numerous locations, and with our global network of language trainers we can organise a Thai language course for you wherever you are - in almost any major city in the UK, Europe and beyond. The vast majority of our Thai lessons take place at our clients' offices, removing the need for you to travel, but Thai lessons can take place in your home if that is more convenient. We can also arrange full-time residential Thai language courses for you - just contact our office for information on available destinations.

Glasgow Thai Course Schedules

Our Thai language courses in Glasgow go on all year. Some of our students attend more than one 90-minute weekly session if work circumstances allow, and most will attend at least one per week. Weekend Courses in Thai can be arranged on request. Our Thai courses are available 12 hours a day, from 8am to 8pm Monday through Friday. 30 hour per week intensive Thai courses can be held on clients’ premises or in residential centres in the UK or abroad. These courses take 6 hours per day, Monday through Friday.

We will tailor your Thai language course for your specific aims and level of knowledge. Before you start your Thai language course we will assess your goals and level of Thai experience. Your desire to learn Thai may be simply to develop basic skills, or you may have some level of proficiency and wish to increase your ability to use Thai to discuss business. You may want to develop your language skills so that you can use Thai in negotiations and meetings or improve your pronunciation and telephone skills. No matter what goals you have, you can be confident of our Thai trainers experience and that your Thai language course is tailored to your needs and your goals will be quickly met.

Thai Language Examination Courses

Our students’ pass rate for Thai examinations is at 95%, and we are happy to help with the preparations for any such examination. Our high pass rate shows the value of working with Thai teachers in Glasgow who have a higher level of experience than average. SIMON & SIMON also arrange registration for Thai examinations as well as administering the examination and issuing the results.

The table below is based on recognised language levels used by various academic institutions accross the European Union. A highly motivated student attending weekly sessions with their language trainer can expect to move from one level to another after 50 hours providing they also commit to a similar number of hours of self-study.

Of course, some people find learning languages easier than others, and some students will have more opportunities to practise the language in the course of their work and leisure, so these factors also need to be considered when trying to assess how long it will take to move from one level to another.

Breaking the Language Barrier

Back to top of Thai Courses Glasgow

Thai is the national and official language of Thailand and the native language of the Thai people, Thailand's dominant ethnic group. Thai is a member of the Tai group of the Tai-Kadai language family. Historical linguists have been unable to definitively link the Tai-Kadai languages to any other language family. Some words in Thai are borrowed from Pali, Sanskrit and Old Khmer. It is a tonal and analytic language. Thai also has a complex orthography and relational markers. Thai is mutually intelligible with Lao, whereas the Isaan dialect is almost the same as Lao.

Glasgow is the largest city in Scotland and third most populous in the United Kingdom. The city is situated on the River Clyde in the country's west central lowlands. A person from Glasgow is known as a Glaswegian or as locals say "weegie". Glasgow grew from the medieval Bishopric of Glasgow and the later establishment of the University of Glasgow in the 15th century, which subsequently became a major centre of the Scottish Enlightenment in the 18th century. From the 18th century the city also grew as one of Britain's main hubs of transatlantic trade with British North America and the British West Indies. With the Industrial Revolution, the city and surrounding region shifted to become one of the world's pre-eminent centres of Heavy Engineering, most notably in the Shipbuilding and Marine engineering industry, which produced many innovative and famous vessels. Glasgow was known as the "Second City of the British Empire" for much of the Victorian era and Edwardian period. Today it is one of Europe's top twenty financial centres and is home to many of Scotland's leading businesses. Glasgow is also ranked as the 57th most liveable city in the world.
