Many professionals in companies across the UK, as well as private individuals, have benefited from an Thai Language Course with SIMON & SIMON. We have a terrific team of qualified native-speaker Thai teachers, and with an average of 15 years' experience they will ensure you benefit from a course designed specifically around your needs, whether you are a complete beginner or an advanced learner with more specialised requirements. We consistently receive excellent feedback on our Thai tutors from our clients, and we send our students a profile on their Thai tutor prior to their Thai lessons commencing, with information on the tutor's background and experience.

The way that modern languages are taught has gone through a revolution in the past few years. If you have only learned languages at school you will find that the experience now is vastly more fun and worthwhile. The Communicative Approach means that your Thai lessons in Chester will be almost entirely through the medium of Thai. You will feel that you are making real progress, even in the first lesson, and will soon communicate in Thai with confidence, in a range of social and business environments.

Both 1:1 and group formats are available for our Thai language courses. While most of our clients offer 1:1 Thai training, the group format can offer great value for money. If you want groups to be successful, the members must commit to the weekly meetings and we recommend keeping the number of participants below 7. Progress is faster for those who learn Thai in Chester on a 1:1 basis as the lessons are individually tailored for their particular needs, strengths and weaknesses.

Thai Course Management

Every SIMON & SIMON Thai language course has a highly experienced, multi-lingual Account Manager who oversees it. When your Thai course starts you will be sent a profile on your trainer, materials for your course and a Course Plan as well as a Progress Report for every 40 hours of training. Breaking the Language Barrier, our quarterly newsletter that you will also receive, contains a prize draw as well as weblinks to a number of learning resources.

SIMON & SIMON’s Thai language courses have been run for clients in many different locations. With a global network of language trainers a Thai language course can be held in almost any major city throughout Europe and elsewhere. We can arrange Thai language courses in your home or, as many of our clients prefer, in your offices to remove the need for you to travel. Full-time residential Thai language courses are also an option. For a list of locations, please contact our office.

Chester Thai Course Schedules

We run our Thai language courses in Chester all through the year. Many of our students, if work commitments allow, will attend more than one session weekly, and the vast majority take part in at least one 90-minute lesson weekly. We also arrange weekend Thai courses on request. Our Thai programs commence from 8am to 8pm Monday to Friday. Intensive 30 hour per week Thai language courses, held on clients’ premises or at residential centres in the UK or abroad, are also available on a 6 hours per day basis, Monday through Friday.

Whatever your personal level of experience and future goals, your Thai course will be customised for you. Before you start the course we will assess your level of Thai and discuss in detail what you would like to focus on. You may desire simply to gain everyday Thai skills from the level of a complete beginner, or you may have more experience in Thai and want to improve your ability to discuss banking, finance or marketing. You may want to develop improved pronunciation and comprehension skills or improve your Thai for use in negotiations and meetings. Whatever your goals and needs, our highly experienced Thai language trainers will tailor your Thai course so that your goals will be met quickly.

Thai Language Examination Courses

If you are taking a Thai examination, for business or other reasons, we are happy to help you with your preparations. We are very proud of the 95% pass rate of our students in language examinations. We believe this highlights the value of working with Thai teachers in Chester whose experience is above average. SIMON & SIMON can also register you for your Thai examination, administer the examination and issue you your results.

The table below is based on recognised language levels used by various academic institutions accross the European Union. A highly motivated student attending weekly sessions with their language trainer can expect to move from one level to another after 50 hours providing they also commit to a similar number of hours of self-study.

Of course, some people find learning languages easier than others, and some students will have more opportunities to practise the language in the course of their work and leisure, so these factors also need to be considered when trying to assess how long it will take to move from one level to another.

Thai is the national and official language of Thailand and the native language of the Thai people, Thailand's dominant ethnic group. Thai is a member of the Tai group of the Tai-Kadai language family. Historical linguists have been unable to definitively link the Tai-Kadai languages to any other language family. Some words in Thai are borrowed from Pali, Sanskrit and Old Khmer. It is a tonal and analytic language. Thai also has a complex orthography and relational markers. Thai is mutually intelligible with Lao, whereas the Isaan dialect is almost the same as Lao.

Chester is a city in Cheshire, England. Lying on the River Dee, close to the border with Wales, it is home to 77,040 inhabitants, and is the largest and most populous settlement of the wider unitary authority area of Cheshire West and Chester, which had a population of 328,100 according to the 2001 Census. Chester was granted city status in 1541. Chester was founded as a "castrum" or Roman fort with the name Deva Victrix in the year 79 by the Roman Legio II Adiutrix during the reign of the Emperor Vespasian. Chester's four main roads, Eastgate, Northgate, Watergate and Bridge, follow routes laid out at this time – almost 2,000 years ago. One of the three main Roman army bases, Deva later became a major settlement in the Roman province of Britannia. After the Romans left in the 5th century, the Saxons fortified the town against the Danes and gave Chester its name. The patron saint of Chester, Werburgh, is buried in Chester Cathedral. Chester was one of the last towns in England to fall to the Normans in the Norman conquest of England. William the Conqueror ordered the construction of a castle, to dominate the town and the nearby Welsh border. In 1071 he created Hugh d'Avranches, the 1st Earl of Chester. Chester has a number of medieval buildings, but some of the black-and-white buildings within the city centre are actually Victorian restorations.
