Designed and customised for the individual student’s needs, SIMON & SIMON’s Thai courses, taught by a team of qualified native Thai speakers who average 15 years of experience, have already benefited professionals and non-professionals across the UK. Courses cater for all levels of experience. The feedback on our Thai tutors that we receive from our clients is consistently excellent. Prior to the start of your Thai course, you will be sent a profile on your specific Thai teacher’s experience and background.

New teaching approaches have revolutionised how modern language training is now approached. This training, with more fun and a more worthwhile experience means that it’s a far cry from what you may remember of studying languages in school. When you start a Thai course in Cardiff, you will make progress from the very first lesson, as almost everything will be done in Thai. This is known as the Communicative Approach, and means that your confidence and ability will soon grow so that you can use Thai to communicate in social and business settings.

Our Thai courses are usually offered by our clients as 1:1 training for their employees. Group sessions, however, are also available and can be excellent value for money. Planning is required so that participants all meet at the same time each week, and we recommend that numbers are kept to 6 or less. 1:1 Thai lessons at Cardiff mean that you will have your individual needs, weaknesses and strengths catered for, so that your progress is quicker.

Thai Course Management

One of our highly experienced, multilingual Account managers oversees each SIMON & SIMON Thai language course. On starting your Thai course you will receive various materials including a profile on your trainer, a Course Plan and course materials and a Progress Report on every 40 hours of your training. Breaking the Language Barrier, our quarterly newsletter, which contains weblinks to various language learning sources and a prize draw, will also be sent to you.

SIMON & SIMON Thai language courses have been arranged for clients in various locations. We have a global network of trainers and wherever you are, we will be able to organise a Thai language course for you, not only in the UK but in almost any of the major cities in Europe and beyond. Most of our Thai courses are run at the offices of our clients so that you do not have to travel, but we are happy to arrange Thai training sessions for you in your home. Full-time Thai courses can be arranged in a residential setting for you. Our office has information on the locations we offer.

Cardiff Thai Course Schedules

We run our Thai language courses in Cardiff all through the year. Many of our students, if work commitments allow, will attend more than one session weekly, and the vast majority take part in at least one 90-minute lesson weekly. We also arrange weekend Thai courses on request. Our Thai programs commence from 8am to 8pm Monday to Friday. Intensive 30 hour per week Thai language courses, held on clients’ premises or at residential centres in the UK or abroad, are also available on a 6 hours per day basis, Monday through Friday.

Whatever your personal level of experience and future goals, your Thai course will be customised for you. Before you start the course we will assess your level of Thai and discuss in detail what you would like to focus on. You may desire simply to gain everyday Thai skills from the level of a complete beginner, or you may have more experience in Thai and want to improve your ability to discuss banking, finance or marketing. You may want to develop improved pronunciation and comprehension skills or improve your Thai for use in negotiations and meetings. Whatever your goals and needs, our highly experienced Thai language trainers will tailor your Thai course so that your goals will be met quickly.

Thai Language Examination Courses

If you are taking a Thai examination, for business or other reasons, we are happy to help you with your preparations. We are very proud of the 95% pass rate of our students in language examinations. We believe this highlights the value of working with Thai teachers in Cardiff whose experience is above average. SIMON & SIMON can also register you for your Thai examination, administer the examination and issue you your results.

The table below is based on recognised language levels used by various academic institutions accross the European Union. A highly motivated student attending weekly sessions with their language trainer can expect to move from one level to another after 50 hours providing they also commit to a similar number of hours of self-study.

Of course, some people find learning languages easier than others, and some students will have more opportunities to practise the language in the course of their work and leisure, so these factors also need to be considered when trying to assess how long it will take to move from one level to another.

Breaking the Language Barrier

Back to top of Thai Courses Cardiff

Thai is the national and official language of Thailand and the native language of the Thai people, Thailand's dominant ethnic group. Thai is a member of the Tai group of the Tai-Kadai language family. Historical linguists have been unable to definitively link the Tai-Kadai languages to any other language family. Some words in Thai are borrowed from Pali, Sanskrit and Old Khmer. It is a tonal and analytic language. Thai also has a complex orthography and relational markers. Thai is mutually intelligible with Lao, whereas the Isaan dialect is almost the same as Lao.

Cardiff is the capital, largest city and most populous county of Wales. The city is Wales' chief commercial centre, the base for most national cultural and sporting institutions, the Welsh national media, and the seat of the National Assembly for Wales. According to recent estimates, the population of the unitary authority area is 324,800, while the wider metropolitan area has a population of nearly 1.1 million, more than a third of the total Welsh population. Cardiff is a significant tourism centre and the most popular visitor destination in Wales with 14.6 million visitors in 2009. The city of Cardiff is the county town of the historic county of Glamorgan (and later South Glamorgan). Cardiff is part of the Eurocities network of the largest European cities. The Cardiff Urban Area covers a slightly larger area outside of the county boundary, and includes the towns of Dinas Powys, Penarth and Radyr. A small town until the early 19th century, its prominence as a major port for the transport of coal following the arrival of industry in the region contributed to its rise as a major city. Cardiff was made a city in 1905, and proclaimed capital of Wales in 1955. Since the 1990s Cardiff has seen significant development with a new waterfront area at Cardiff Bay which contains the Senedd building, home to the Welsh Assembly and the Wales Millennium Centre arts complex.
