Swedish Courses for Business in Sussex

Please click a title below for further information:

Private individuals and professionals in companies all over the UK have profited from undertaking a Swedish Language Course with SIMON & SIMON. Averaging 15 years of experience, our native Swedish speaking qualified teachers construct your course so that your individual requirements are met, no matter what your level of experience. Our Swedish teachers receive excellent feedback from our clients. A profile, containing information about the Swedish teacher’s background and experience, is sent to each student before the Swedish lessons start.

If the only experience you have of studying a language is from your time in school, you may not know that there has been a revolution in the teaching of modern languages so that it is both more fun and more worthwhile. Your Swedish teacher in Sussex will be using the Communicative Approach, where your lessons will, with few exceptions, be conducted in Swedish. You will see your progress from that very first lesson and will soon be confident enough to conduct business or talk socially in Swedish.

Our Swedish courses are usually offered by our clients as 1:1 training for their employees. Group sessions, however, are also available and can be excellent value for money. Planning is required so that participants all meet at the same time each week, and we recommend that numbers are kept to 6 or less. 1:1 Swedish lessons at Sussex mean that you will have your individual needs, weaknesses and strengths catered for, so that your progress is quicker.

Swedish Course Management

SIMON & SIMON’s Swedish language courses all have a specific Account Manager who oversee the course. Each of these managers is highly experienced and multi-lingual. At the start of your Swedish course, you will receive a profile on your trainer, course materials and a Course Plan. After every 40 hours of training you will receive a Progress Report. We will send you our quarterly newsletter, Breaking the Language Barrier, which contains a wonderful prize draw as well as weblinks to valuable language learning resources.

SIMON & SIMON has arranged Swedish language courses for clients in numerous locations, and with our global network of language trainers we can organise a Swedish language course for you wherever you are - in almost any major city in the UK, Europe and beyond. The vast majority of our Swedish lessons take place at our clients' offices, removing the need for you to travel, but Swedish lessons can take place in your home if that is more convenient. We can also arrange full-time residential Swedish language courses for you - just contact our office for information on available destinations.

Sussex Swedish Course Schedules

Our Swedish language courses in Sussex run throughout the year. The majority of our students attend at least one 90-minute session per week and many students will try to do more than one session depending on work commitments. Our Swedish teachers are available Monday - Friday from 8am - 8pm, and Weekend Courses can also be arranged on request. Our intensive Swedish language courses run for 30 hours per week, (6 hours per day Monday - Friday), and take place on our clients' premises or at a residential centre here in the UK or abroad.

The content of your Swedish language course will reflect your level and your particular objectives. We will assess your Swedish language level before your course, and discuss with you in detail the subject areas you wish to focus on. You may be a complete beginner looking for day-to-day Swedish survival language skills, or a more proficient Swedish speaker needing to improve your fluency when discussing areas such as law, banking, finance, insurance, sales, travel, marketing, and administration. You may want to focus on improving your Swedish for meetings, discussions and negotiations, or to concentrate on improving your listening comprehension, pronunciation and telephone skills. Whatever your needs, working with one of our highly experienced Swedish language trainers you can be confident that the content of your Swedish language course will be tailored just for you and that you will soon be meeting your objectives.

Swedish Language Examination Courses

We can also help prepare you for Swedish examinations of a business or general nature. We are proud to say our students have a 95% pass rate in language examinations, and their success further underlines the value we place on working with Swedish teachers in Sussex with above average experience. As part of our service, SIMON & SIMON will also organise the registration and administration of Swedish examinations and the issuing of result certificates.

The table below is based on recognised language levels used by various academic institutions accross the European Union. A highly motivated student attending weekly sessions with their language trainer can expect to move from one level to another after 50 hours providing they also commit to a similar number of hours of self-study.

Of course, some people find learning languages easier than others, and some students will have more opportunities to practise the language in the course of their work and leisure, so these factors also need to be considered when trying to assess how long it will take to move from one level to another.

Back to top of Swedish Courses Sussex

Swedish is a North Germanic language, spoken by approximately 10 million people, predominantly in Sweden and parts of Finland, especially along its coast and on the Åland islands. It is, to a considerable extent, mutually intelligible with Norwegian and to a lesser extent with Danish. Along with the other North Germanic languages, Swedish is a descendant of Old Norse, the common language of the Germanic peoples living in Scandinavia during the Viking Era. It is currently the largest of the North Germanic languages by numbers of speakers.

Sussex is an historic county in South East England corresponding roughly in area to the ancient Kingdom of Sussex. It is bounded on the north by Surrey, east by Kent, south by the English Channel, and west by Hampshire, and is divided for local government into West Sussex and East Sussex and the city of Brighton and Hove. The city of Brighton & Hove was created a unitary authority in 1997; and was granted City status in 2000. Until then Chichester had been Sussex's only city. The divisions of West Sussex and East Sussex were first established in 1189, and had obtained separate administrations (Quarter Sessions) by the 16th century. This situation was recognised by the County of Sussex Act 1865. Under the Local Government Act 1888 the two divisions became two administrative counties (along with three county boroughs: Brighton, Hastings and, from 1911, Eastbourne). The appellation Sussex remained in use as a ceremonial county until 1974, when the Lord-Lieutenant of Sussex was replaced with one each for East and West Sussex. The whole of Sussex has had a single police force since 1968.
