SIMON & SIMON’s team of qualified native Swedish speaking teachers average 15 years of experience. Professionals and private individuals from all over the UK have benefited from SIMON & SIMON’s Swedish language courses, all of which are tailor-made to reflect each student's level of experience. We consistently receive outstanding feedback from our clients about our Swedish tutors. Each student is sent a specific profile on the experience and background of their Swedish tutor before they start their course of lessons.

New teaching approaches have revolutionised how modern language training is now approached. This training, with more fun and a more worthwhile experience means that it’s a far cry from what you may remember of studying languages in school. When you start a Swedish course in Stoke, you will make progress from the very first lesson, as almost everything will be done in Swedish. This is known as the Communicative Approach, and means that your confidence and ability will soon grow so that you can use Swedish to communicate in social and business settings.

Our Swedish courses are usually offered by our clients as 1:1 training for their employees. Group sessions, however, are also available and can be excellent value for money. Planning is required so that participants all meet at the same time each week, and we recommend that numbers are kept to 6 or less. 1:1 Swedish lessons at Stoke mean that you will have your individual needs, weaknesses and strengths catered for, so that your progress is quicker.

Swedish Course Management

Every SIMON & SIMON Swedish language course has a highly experienced, multi-lingual Account Manager who oversees it. When your Swedish course starts you will be sent a profile on your trainer, materials for your course and a Course Plan as well as a Progress Report for every 40 hours of training. Breaking the Language Barrier, our quarterly newsletter that you will also receive, contains a prize draw as well as weblinks to a number of learning resources.

The Swedish language courses of SIMON & SIMON have been run in numerous locations. As we have a global network of language trainers your Swedish language course can be arranged in major cities across Europe and further afield. Most of our clients arrange for their Swedish lessons to be run in their offices so that there is less need for travel, but we can also run Swedish lessons in your home. We also run residential full-time Swedish language courses in a variety of locations which our office will be happy to inform you of.

Stoke Swedish Course Schedules

We run our Swedish language courses in Stoke all through the year. Many of our students, if work commitments allow, will attend more than one session weekly, and the vast majority take part in at least one 90-minute lesson weekly. We also arrange weekend Swedish courses on request. Our Swedish programs commence from 8am to 8pm Monday to Friday. Intensive 30 hour per week Swedish language courses, held on clients’ premises or at residential centres in the UK or abroad, are also available on a 6 hours per day basis, Monday through Friday.

Whatever your personal level of experience and future goals, your Swedish course will be customised for you. Before you start the course we will assess your level of Swedish and discuss in detail what you would like to focus on. You may desire simply to gain everyday Swedish skills from the level of a complete beginner, or you may have more experience in Swedish and want to improve your ability to discuss banking, finance or marketing. You may want to develop improved pronunciation and comprehension skills or improve your Swedish for use in negotiations and meetings. Whatever your goals and needs, our highly experienced Swedish language trainers will tailor your Swedish course so that your goals will be met quickly.

Swedish Language Examination Courses

If you are taking a Swedish examination, for business or other reasons, we are happy to help you with your preparations. We are very proud of the 95% pass rate of our students in language examinations. We believe this highlights the value of working with Swedish teachers in Stoke whose experience is above average. SIMON & SIMON can also register you for your Swedish examination, administer the examination and issue you your results.

The table below is based on recognised language levels used by various academic institutions accross the European Union. A highly motivated student attending weekly sessions with their language trainer can expect to move from one level to another after 50 hours providing they also commit to a similar number of hours of self-study.

Of course, some people find learning languages easier than others, and some students will have more opportunities to practise the language in the course of their work and leisure, so these factors also need to be considered when trying to assess how long it will take to move from one level to another.

Back to top of Swedish Courses Stoke

Swedish is a North Germanic language, spoken by approximately 10 million people, predominantly in Sweden and parts of Finland, especially along its coast and on the Åland islands. It is, to a considerable extent, mutually intelligible with Norwegian and to a lesser extent with Danish. Along with the other North Germanic languages, Swedish is a descendant of Old Norse, the common language of the Germanic peoples living in Scandinavia during the Viking Era. It is currently the largest of the North Germanic languages by numbers of speakers.

Stoke means "hamlet", from the Anglo-Saxon. It formed part of the ancient Forest of Mondrum. Stoke is not mentioned by name in the Domesday survey; the name was first recorded in 1260. Barbridge is mentioned in John Leland's Itinerary from a visit of 1536. The civil parish was originally a township in the ancient parish of Acton in the Nantwich Hundred; it was served by St Mary's Church, Acton. The manor was given by Randal de Praers to his son, who assumed the name Stoke, and later passed to the Beeston and Aston families. By 1622, it was held by the Minshull family of Stoke Hall. The manor was held by the Wilbraham family from 1753 to 1781, and was then sold to the Craven family. During the Civil War, Stoke was occupied by royalist forces in December 1643, together with much of the surrounding area. In the 17th–19th centuries, the area appears to have had a substantial Quaker population; a graveyard at Stoke Grange Farm was given to the movement in 1657 and remained in use until the mid-19th century. During World War II, Stoke Manor provided accommodation for land girls.
