We consistently receive outstanding feedback from our clients about our Swedish tutors. Each student is sent a specific profile on the experience and background of their Swedish tutor before they start their course of lessons. Modern language teaching is now approached much differently to how you might remember learning languages in school. The experience is now much more fun and rewarding.
The Communicative Approach, where your Swedish teacher will conduct your lessons almost entirely in Swedish means that progress is made from your very first lesson. Soon, you will have such confidence that using Swedish in a social or business setting will be no problem. Both 1:1 and group formats are available for our Swedish language courses. While most of our clients offer 1:1 Swedish training, the group format can offer great value for money. If you want groups to be successful, the members must commit to the weekly meetings and we recommend keeping the number of participants below 7.
Progress is faster for those who learn Swedish in Reading on a 1:1 basis as the lessons are individually tailored for their particular needs, strengths and weaknesses. Swedish Course ManagementEach of SIMON & SIMON’s Swedish languages courses is the responsibility of a multi-lingual, very experienced Account Manager.

Reading Swedish Course SchedulesOur Swedish language courses in Reading take place throughout the year. Many of our students try to attend more than one weekly lesson if work commitments allow, and most will attend at least one session of 90-minutes duration per week.
If you would like a Weekend Course, one can be arranged. Our Swedish daytime courses run from 8am through to 8pm, Monday - Friday.
We also provide Intensive Swedish language courses on clients’ premises or in residential centres both in the UK and abroad. These courses run for 30 hours of the week, 6 hours a day from Monday to Friday. The Swedish language course that you undertake will be customised for your Swedish level and personal goals. Before you start the course, we will speak to you about your desired focus and assess you Swedish level.
You may have little or no experience of Swedish and only want basic conversational skills or you may be more proficient and desire more fluency with which to discuss business.
You may want to raise your Swedish skills for use in meetings and negotiations or rather develop increased comprehension and pronunciation skills.
Whatever your objectives, our Swedish language trainers are highly experienced, and you can be confident that your personalised Swedish course will help you to meet your goals quickly. Swedish Language Examination CoursesSIMON & SIMON also assists in preparation for Swedish examinations, whether for business or personal qualification. We believe that our 95% pass rate for language examinations is a reflection of our policy of working with Swedish teachers in Reading who possess above average experience.
Registration for and administration of Swedish examinations, along with the issuing of results certificates are all provided by SIMON & SIMON. The table below is based on recognised language levels used by various academic institutions accross the European Union. A highly motivated student attending weekly sessions with their language trainer can expect to move from one level to another after 50 hours providing they also commit to a similar number of hours of self-study.
Of course, some people find learning languages easier than others, and some students will have more opportunities to practise the language in the course of their work and leisure, so these factors also need to be considered when trying to assess how long it will take to move from one level to another.

SIMON & SIMON International Breaking the Language Barrier Back to top of Swedish Courses Reading Swedish is a North Germanic language, spoken by approximately 10 million people, predominantly in Sweden and parts of Finland, especially along its coast and on the Åland islands. It is, to a considerable extent, mutually intelligible with Norwegian and to a lesser extent with Danish. Along with the other North Germanic languages, Swedish is a descendant of Old Norse, the common language of the Germanic peoples living in Scandinavia during the Viking Era. It is currently the largest of the North Germanic languages by numbers of speakers. Reading is a large town and unitary authority area in England, located at the confluence of the River Thames and River Kennet, and on both the Great Western Main Line railway and the M4 motorway, some 40 miles (64 km) west of London. For ceremonial purposes it is in the Royal County of Berkshire and has served as the county town since 1867.
Reading was an important national centre in the medieval period, as the site of an important monastery with strong royal connections. Today it remains a commercial centre, with links to information technology and insurance. Reading also hosts two universities, a large student population, and is home to one of England's biggest music festivals.
The settlement was founded at the confluence of the River Thames and River Kennet in the 8th century as Readingum. The name probably comes from the Readingas, an Anglo-Saxon tribe whose name means "Reada's People" in Old English, or (less probably) the Celtic Rhydd-Inge, "Ford over the River". The name of the settlement was derived from an earlier folk, or tribal, name. Anglo-Saxon names ending in -ingas originally referred not to a place but to a people, in this case specifically the descendants or followers of a man named Reada, literally "The Red One."
