Our clients reliably give excellent feedback on our Swedish teachers. Each of our students receives an information profile on the background and experience of their Swedish teacher before they commence their Swedish lessons. If you have only studied languages before at school you will find that teaching approaches to modern language training have changed enormously in recent years - it's now a lot more fun and a far more rewarding experience!
Your teacher will conduct your Swedish lesson in Plymouth almost entirely in Swedish - a method known as the Communicative Approach - and you will find yourself making progress from the very first lesson and soon growing in the confidence to communicate in Swedish in a variety of social and business situations. The Swedish courses that we offer can be run as 1:1 or group sessions. While most of our clients use 1:1 Swedish training for their employees, group sessions can be good value. Participants numbers should be kept to 6 or less, and they will need to commit to meeting every week.
If you require faster progress, 1:1 Swedish courses at Plymouth are more suitable as the lessons and course can be tailored to the individual’s needs while focusing on their specific weaknesses and strengths. Swedish Course ManagementA multi-lingual Account Manager with extensive experience is responsible for each SIMON & SIMON Swedish language course.
A profile on your trainer, Course Plan and course materials will be sent to you when you start your Swedish course. After every 40 hours of training you will receive a Progress Report. We will also send you Breaking the Language Barrier, our quarterly newsletter, which contains a wonderful prize draw and valuable language learning resource weblinks. The Swedish language courses of SIMON & SIMON have been run in numerous locations. 30 hour per week intensive Swedish courses can be held on clients’ premises or in residential centres in the UK or abroad. These courses take 6 hours per day, Monday through Friday. We will tailor your Swedish language course for your specific aims and level of knowledge. Before you start your Swedish language course we will assess your goals and level of Swedish experience.
Your desire to learn Swedish may be simply to develop basic skills, or you may have some level of proficiency and wish to increase your ability to use Swedish to discuss business.
You may want to develop your language skills so that you can use Swedish in negotiations and meetings or improve your pronunciation and telephone skills.
No matter what goals you have, you can be confident of our Swedish trainers experience and that your Swedish language course is tailored to your needs and your goals will be quickly met. Swedish Language Examination CoursesOur students’ pass rate for Swedish examinations is at 95%, and we are happy to help with the preparations for any such examination. Our high pass rate shows the value of working with Swedish teachers in Plymouth who have a higher level of experience than average.
SIMON & SIMON also arrange registration for Swedish examinations as well as administering the examination and issuing the results. The table below is based on recognised language levels used by various academic institutions accross the European Union. A highly motivated student attending weekly sessions with their language trainer can expect to move from one level to another after 50 hours providing they also commit to a similar number of hours of self-study.
Of course, some people find learning languages easier than others, and some students will have more opportunities to practise the language in the course of their work and leisure, so these factors also need to be considered when trying to assess how long it will take to move from one level to another.

SIMON & SIMON International Breaking the Language Barrier Back to top of Swedish Courses Plymouth Swedish is a North Germanic language, spoken by approximately 10 million people, predominantly in Sweden and parts of Finland, especially along its coast and on the Åland islands. It is, to a considerable extent, mutually intelligible with Norwegian and to a lesser extent with Danish. Along with the other North Germanic languages, Swedish is a descendant of Old Norse, the common language of the Germanic peoples living in Scandinavia during the Viking Era. It is currently the largest of the North Germanic languages by numbers of speakers. Plymouth is a city and unitary authority area on the coast of Devon, England, about 190 miles (310 km) south-west of London. It is built between the mouths of the rivers Plym to the east and Tamar to the west, where they join Plymouth Sound. Since 1967 the City of Plymouth has included the suburbs of Plympton and Plymstock, which are on the east side of the River Plym.
Plymouth's history goes back to the Bronze Age, when its first settlement grew at Mount Batten. This settlement continued to grow as a trading post for the Roman Empire, until the more prosperous village of Sutton, the current Plymouth, surpassed it. In 1620 the Pilgrim Fathers left Plymouth for the New World and established Plymouth Colony – the second English settlement in what is now the United States of America. During the English Civil War the town was held by the Parliamentarians and was besieged between 1642 and 1646.
Throughout the Industrial Revolution Plymouth grew as a major shipping port, handling imports and passengers from the Americas, while the neighbouring town of Devonport grew as an important Royal Naval shipbuilding and dockyard town. The county boroughs of Plymouth and Devonport, and the urban district of East Stonehouse were merged in 1914 to form the single county borough of Plymouth – collectively referred to as The Three Towns.
