Please click a title below for further information:

Designed and customised for the individual student’s needs, SIMON & SIMON’s Swedish courses, taught by a team of qualified native Swedish speakers who average 15 years of experience, have already benefited professionals and non-professionals across the UK. Courses cater for all levels of experience. The feedback on our Swedish tutors that we receive from our clients is consistently excellent. Prior to the start of your Swedish course, you will be sent a profile on your specific Swedish teacher’s experience and background.

The way that modern languages are taught has gone through a revolution in the past few years. If you have only learned languages at school you will find that the experience now is vastly more fun and worthwhile. The Communicative Approach means that your Swedish lessons in Nottinghamshire will be almost entirely through the medium of Swedish. You will feel that you are making real progress, even in the first lesson, and will soon communicate in Swedish with confidence, in a range of social and business environments.

Our Swedish courses are usually offered by our clients as 1:1 training for their employees. Group sessions, however, are also available and can be excellent value for money. Planning is required so that participants all meet at the same time each week, and we recommend that numbers are kept to 6 or less. 1:1 Swedish lessons at Nottinghamshire mean that you will have your individual needs, weaknesses and strengths catered for, so that your progress is quicker.

Swedish Course Management

SIMON & SIMON’s Swedish language courses all have a specific Account Manager who oversee the course. Each of these managers is highly experienced and multi-lingual. At the start of your Swedish course, you will receive a profile on your trainer, course materials and a Course Plan. After every 40 hours of training you will receive a Progress Report. We will send you our quarterly newsletter, Breaking the Language Barrier, which contains a wonderful prize draw as well as weblinks to valuable language learning resources.

SIMON & SIMON’s Swedish language courses have been run for clients in many different locations. With a global network of language trainers a Swedish language course can be held in almost any major city throughout Europe and elsewhere. We can arrange Swedish language courses in your home or, as many of our clients prefer, in your offices to remove the need for you to travel. Full-time residential Swedish language courses are also an option. For a list of locations, please contact our office.

Nottinghamshire Swedish Course Schedules

The Swedish language courses in Nottinghamshire that we run go on through the year. Each week, most of our students will attend at least one of our 90-minute lessons, but many will do more. We can easily arrange Weekend Courses for you. Swedish courses run from Monday to Friday, any time from 8am to 8pm. Intensive Swedish language courses can be arranged in residential centres abroad or in the UK, or on clients’ premises for 30 hours per week, 6 hours a day Monday to Friday.

Before you start your Swedish language course we will assess your level of Swedish and speak to you about your aims so that your Swedish language course can be customised for you. You may have never been exposed to Swedish before and wish to develop basic survival skills, or you may have some experience and wish to be able to speak more fluently in Swedish when discussing business. You may want to further your ability to use Swedish in negotiations and meetings or better your comprehension and pronunciation abilities. Whatever goals you may have, our experienced Swedish language trainers will tailor your Swedish course so that your goals can be quickly met.

Swedish Language Examination Courses

We are happy to help in your preparation for any Swedish examinations. Our students have a 95% pass rate and we think that their success shows the value of our policy of working with above-average experienced Swedish teachers in Nottinghamshire. Issuing of results certificates, registration for Swedish examinations and administration of such exams is also provided by SIMON & SIMON.

The table below is based on recognised language levels used by various academic institutions accross the European Union. A highly motivated student attending weekly sessions with their language trainer can expect to move from one level to another after 50 hours providing they also commit to a similar number of hours of self-study.

Of course, some people find learning languages easier than others, and some students will have more opportunities to practise the language in the course of their work and leisure, so these factors also need to be considered when trying to assess how long it will take to move from one level to another.

Swedish is a North Germanic language, spoken by approximately 10 million people, predominantly in Sweden and parts of Finland, especially along its coast and on the Åland islands. It is, to a considerable extent, mutually intelligible with Norwegian and to a lesser extent with Danish. Along with the other North Germanic languages, Swedish is a descendant of Old Norse, the common language of the Germanic peoples living in Scandinavia during the Viking Era. It is currently the largest of the North Germanic languages by numbers of speakers.

Nottinghamshire is an English county in the East Midlands, which borders South Yorkshire, Lincolnshire, Leicestershire and Derbyshire. The county town is traditionally Nottingham, though the council is now based in West Bridgford, a suburb of Greater Nottingham (at a site facing Nottingham City over the River Trent). The districts of Nottinghamshire are Ashfield, Bassetlaw, Broxtowe, Gedling, Mansfield, Newark and Sherwood, and Rushcliffe. The City of Nottingham was administratively part of Nottinghamshire between 1974 and 1998 but is now a unitary authority although it remains part of the historic and ceremonial county. As of 2006 the county is estimated to have a population of just over one million. Over half of the population of the county live in the conurbation of Greater Nottingham Core City Area which also spreads into Derbyshire. The conurbation has a population of about 650,000, though less than half live within the city boundaries.
