Please click a title below for further information:

SIMON & SIMON’s team of qualified native Swedish speaking teachers average 15 years of experience. Professionals and private individuals from all over the UK have benefited from SIMON & SIMON’s Swedish language courses, all of which are tailor-made to reflect each student's level of experience. We consistently receive outstanding feedback from our clients about our Swedish tutors. Each student is sent a specific profile on the experience and background of their Swedish tutor before they start their course of lessons.

If you have only studied languages before at school you will find that teaching approaches to modern language training have changed enormously in recent years - it's now a lot more fun and a far more rewarding experience! Your teacher will conduct your Swedish lesson in Gloucestershire almost entirely in Swedish - a method known as the Communicative Approach - and you will find yourself making progress from the very first lesson and soon growing in the confidence to communicate in Swedish in a variety of social and business situations.

We offer Swedish courses as group sessions or on a 1:1 basis/ Most of our clients offer their employees 1:1 Swedish training, however, if planned carefully, with participants numbering 6 or less who commit to meeting every week, group sessions can be good value for money. Those who learn Swedish at Gloucestershire on a 1:1 basis will find that they progress more quickly, as the lessons can be specifically tailored for their individual needs, strengths and weaknesses.

Swedish Course Management

Each of SIMON & SIMON’s Swedish languages courses is the responsibility of a multi-lingual, very experienced Account Manager. When you start your Swedish course, you will receive your trainer’s profile. Thereafter we will send you a Course Plan, materials for the course and, after each 40 hours of training, a Progress Report. Our quarterly newsletter, Breaking the Language Barrier, will also reach you, and contains a prize draw as well as the weblinks of language learning resources.

We have a global network of language trainers so our Swedish language courses can be arranged for almost any major European city, or even further abroad. SIMON & SIMON have run Swedish language courses for clients in many diverse locations. Swedish language courses can be run in your home for your convenience, but many of our clients prefer to run them in their offices so as to minimise travel. For a list of the locations of the full-time residential Swedish language courses that we offer, contact our office.

Gloucestershire Swedish Course Schedules

The Swedish language courses in Gloucestershire that we run go on through the year. Each week, most of our students will attend at least one of our 90-minute lessons, but many will do more. We can easily arrange Weekend Courses for you. Swedish courses run from Monday to Friday, any time from 8am to 8pm. Intensive Swedish language courses can be arranged in residential centres abroad or in the UK, or on clients’ premises for 30 hours per week, 6 hours a day Monday to Friday.

Before you start your Swedish language course we will assess your level of Swedish and speak to you about your aims so that your Swedish language course can be customised for you. You may have never been exposed to Swedish before and wish to develop basic survival skills, or you may have some experience and wish to be able to speak more fluently in Swedish when discussing business. You may want to further your ability to use Swedish in negotiations and meetings or better your comprehension and pronunciation abilities. Whatever goals you may have, our experienced Swedish language trainers will tailor your Swedish course so that your goals can be quickly met.

Swedish Language Examination Courses

We are happy to help in your preparation for any Swedish examinations. Our students have a 95% pass rate and we think that their success shows the value of our policy of working with above-average experienced Swedish teachers in Gloucestershire. Issuing of results certificates, registration for Swedish examinations and administration of such exams is also provided by SIMON & SIMON.

The table below is based on recognised language levels used by various academic institutions accross the European Union. A highly motivated student attending weekly sessions with their language trainer can expect to move from one level to another after 50 hours providing they also commit to a similar number of hours of self-study.

Of course, some people find learning languages easier than others, and some students will have more opportunities to practise the language in the course of their work and leisure, so these factors also need to be considered when trying to assess how long it will take to move from one level to another.

Swedish is a North Germanic language, spoken by approximately 10 million people, predominantly in Sweden and parts of Finland, especially along its coast and on the Åland islands. It is, to a considerable extent, mutually intelligible with Norwegian and to a lesser extent with Danish. Along with the other North Germanic languages, Swedish is a descendant of Old Norse, the common language of the Germanic peoples living in Scandinavia during the Viking Era. It is currently the largest of the North Germanic languages by numbers of speakers.

Gloucestershire is a county in South West England. The county comprises part of the Cotswold Hills, part of the flat fertile valley of the River Severn, and the entire Forest of Dean. The county town is the city of Gloucester, and other principal towns include Cheltenham, Cirencester, Stroud, and Tewkesbury. When considered as a ceremonial county, Gloucestershire borders the preserved county of Gwent in Wales (now Monmouthshire), and in England the ceremonial counties of Herefordshire, Worcestershire, Warwickshire, Oxfordshire, Wiltshire, Somerset and Bristol. Ceremonially, it includes the area covered by the South Gloucestershire unitary authority. According to a 2002 campaign by the charity Plantlife, the county flower of Gloucestershire is the Wild Daffodil. Gloucestershire is a historic county mentioned in the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle in the 10th century, though the areas of Winchcombe and the Forest of Dean were not added until the late 11th century. Gloucestershire originally included the "small town" of Bristol. The "local" rural community moved to the port city, (as Bristol was to become) and Bristol's population growth accelerated during the industrial revolution. Bristol became part of the administrative County of Avon in 1974.
