SIMON & SIMON’s team of qualified native Spanish speaking teachers average 15 years of experience. Professionals and private individuals from all over the UK have benefited from SIMON & SIMON’s Spanish language courses, all of which are tailor-made to reflect each student's level of experience. We consistently receive outstanding feedback from our clients about our Spanish tutors. Each student is sent a specific profile on the experience and background of their Spanish tutor before they start their course of lessons.

If the only experience you have of studying a language is from your time in school, you may not know that there has been a revolution in the teaching of modern languages so that it is both more fun and more worthwhile. Your Spanish teacher in Devon will be using the Communicative Approach, where your lessons will, with few exceptions, be conducted in Spanish. You will see your progress from that very first lesson and will soon be confident enough to conduct business or talk socially in Spanish.

Spanish courses from us can be run for groups or individuals. While many of our clients offer their employees Spanish courses on a 1:1 basis, group sessions can be excellent value. Group sessions do require planning and commitment from the participants and we recommend that no more than 6 people participate in a group. As 1:1 lessons can be tailored to an individual’s needs, strengths and weaknesses, learning Spanish in Devon on a 1:1 basis will give quicker progress.

Spanish Course Management

Every SIMON & SIMON Spanish language course is overseen by one of our highly experienced Account Managers, all of whom are multi-lingual. At the start of your Spanish language course we will send you a profile on your trainer, followed by a Course Plan and relevant course materials, and then a Progress Report after every 40 hours of training. You will also receive a copy of our quarterly newsletter, Breaking the Language Barrier, featuring a superb prize draw and invaluable weblinks to language learning sources.

The Spanish language courses of SIMON & SIMON have been run in numerous locations. As we have a global network of language trainers your Spanish language course can be arranged in major cities across Europe and further afield. Most of our clients arrange for their Spanish lessons to be run in their offices so that there is less need for travel, but we can also run Spanish lessons in your home. We also run residential full-time Spanish language courses in a variety of locations which our office will be happy to inform you of.

Devon Spanish Course Schedules

Our Spanish language courses in Devon run throughout the year. The majority of our students attend at least one 90-minute session per week and many students will try to do more than one session depending on work commitments. Our Spanish teachers are available Monday - Friday from 8am - 8pm, and Weekend Courses can also be arranged on request. Our intensive Spanish language courses run for 30 hours per week, (6 hours per day Monday - Friday), and take place on our clients' premises or at a residential centre here in the UK or abroad.

The content of your Spanish language course will reflect your level and your particular objectives. We will assess your Spanish language level before your course, and discuss with you in detail the subject areas you wish to focus on. You may be a complete beginner looking for day-to-day Spanish survival language skills, or a more proficient Spanish speaker needing to improve your fluency when discussing areas such as law, banking, finance, insurance, sales, travel, marketing, and administration. You may want to focus on improving your Spanish for meetings, discussions and negotiations, or to concentrate on improving your listening comprehension, pronunciation and telephone skills. Whatever your needs, working with one of our highly experienced Spanish language trainers you can be confident that the content of your Spanish language course will be tailored just for you and that you will soon be meeting your objectives.

Spanish Language Examination Courses

We can also help prepare you for Spanish examinations of a business or general nature. We are proud to say our students have a 95% pass rate in language examinations, and their success further underlines the value we place on working with Spanish teachers in Devon with above average experience. As part of our service, SIMON & SIMON will also organise the registration and administration of Spanish examinations and the issuing of result certificates.

The table below is based on recognised language levels used by various academic institutions accross the European Union. A highly motivated student attending weekly sessions with their language trainer can expect to move from one level to another after 50 hours providing they also commit to a similar number of hours of self-study.

Of course, some people find learning languages easier than others, and some students will have more opportunities to practise the language in the course of their work and leisure, so these factors also need to be considered when trying to assess how long it will take to move from one level to another.

Spanish is a Romance language in the Ibero-Romance group that evolved from several languages and dialects in the central-north of Iberia during the 9th century and gradually spread with the expansion of the Kingdom of Castile into central and southern Iberia during the later Medieval period. In 1999, there were 358 million people speaking Spanish as a native language and a total of 417 million speakers worldwide. As of 2010 these figures are up to 400 and 500 million people respectively. Spanish is the second most natively spoken language in the world, after Mandarin Chinese. Mexico contains the largest population of Spanish speakers. Spanish is one of the six official languages of the United Nations.

Devon is a large county in southwestern England. The county is sometimes referred to as Devonshire, although the term is rarely used inside the county itself and often indicates a traditional or historical context, such as The Devonshire Association, which was formed in 1862. The county shares borders with Cornwall to the west and Dorset and Somerset to the east. Its southern coast abuts the English Channel and its northern coast the Bristol Channel. The name "Devon" derives from the kingdom of Dumnonia, which was home to the tribe of Celtic people who inhabited this area of the southwestern peninsula of Britain at the time of the Roman invasion in AD 43, Dumnonii―possibly meaning 'Deep Valley Dwellers' or 'Worshippers of the god Dumnonos'. Devon is the fourth largest of the English counties and has a population of 1,141,600. The county town is the cathedral city of Exeter and the county contains two independent unitary authorities: the port city of Plymouth and the Torbay conurbation of seaside resorts, in addition to Devon County Council itself. Plymouth is also the largest city in Devon. Much of the county is rural (including national park) land, with a low population density by British standards. It contains Dartmoor 954 km2 (368 square miles), the largest open space in southern England. The county is home to part of England's only natural UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Dorset and East Devon Coast, known as the Jurassic Coast for its geology and geographical features.
