When you start a Slovak course in Scarborough, you will make progress from the very first lesson, as almost everything will be done in Slovak. This is known as the Communicative Approach, and means that your confidence and ability will soon grow so that you can use Slovak to communicate in social and business settings. Slovak courses from us can be run for groups or individuals. While many of our clients offer their employees Slovak courses on a 1:1 basis, group sessions can be excellent value. Group sessions do require planning and commitment from the participants and we recommend that no more than 6 people participate in a group.
As 1:1 lessons can be tailored to an individual’s needs, strengths and weaknesses, learning Slovak in Scarborough on a 1:1 basis will give quicker progress. Slovak Course ManagementEach of SIMON & SIMON’s Slovak languages courses is the responsibility of a multi-lingual, very experienced Account Manager.
When you start your Slovak course, you will receive your trainer’s profile. Thereafter we will send you a Course Plan, materials for the course and, after each 40 hours of training, a Progress Report. Our quarterly newsletter, Breaking the Language Barrier, will also reach you, and contains a prize draw as well as the weblinks of language learning resources. Scarborough Slovak Course SchedulesWe run Slovak language courses in Scarborough all year. Most of our students participate in no less than one 90-minute lesson per week, but many students will participate in more if work commitments allow.
Weekend Courses can be facilitated, and our Slovak weekday courses run from Monday to Friday, from 8am to 8pm.
Intensive Slovak language courses are also available and can be run at the client’s premises or a residential centre in the UK or overseas. These courses take place over 6 hours a day, Monday through Friday, for 30 hours per week. Your Slovak language course’s content will be tailored to your experience and goals. Prior to the course, we will assess your Slovak language level and speak to you comprehensively about the areas and subjects you are interested in.
Students may be complete novices who need everyday Slovak conversational skills or have more proficiency in Slovak and wish to be able to discuss various business topics such as banking or finance more fluently.
Students may desire to bolster their Slovak for negotiations and meetings or focus on gaining better listening, pronunciation and comprehension skills.
No matter what your needs, you can be confident that our very experienced Slovak language trainers will work with you on a Slovak language course that is tailored for you so that you quickly meet your goals. Slovak Language Examination CoursesSlovak examination preparation for business or other examinations can also be assisted with. Our students boast a 95% rate of passing such examinations, proving the value of our policy of Slovak teachers in Scarborough with experience above the average.
SIMON & SIMON also organises registration and administration of Slovak examinations as well as issuing results certificates as a part of our service. The table below is based on recognised language levels used by various academic institutions accross the European Union. A highly motivated student attending weekly sessions with their language trainer can expect to move from one level to another after 50 hours providing they also commit to a similar number of hours of self-study.
Of course, some people find learning languages easier than others, and some students will have more opportunities to practise the language in the course of their work and leisure, so these factors also need to be considered when trying to assess how long it will take to move from one level to another.

Slovak is spoken in Slovakia (by 5 million people), also in the United States (1,200,000), the Czech Republic (350,000), Serbia (60,000), Ireland (30,000), Romania (22,000), Poland (20,000), Canada (20,000), Hungary (11,800), Croatia (5,000), Australia, Austria, Bulgaria and Ukraine. Scarborough is a town on the North Sea coast of North Yorkshire, England. The modern town lies between 3 - 70 m (10 - 230 ft) above sea level, rising steeply northward and westward from the harbour onto limestone cliffs. The older part of the town lies around the harbour and is protected by a rocky headland. Scarborough is served by Scarborough railway station, with services from York, Leeds, Manchester and Liverpool on the North TransPennine route and from Hull via Bridlington and Filey on the Yorkshire Coast Line.
With a population of around 50,000, Scarborough is the largest holiday resort on the Yorkshire coast. It is home to residential communities, business, fishing and service industries, plus a growing digital and creative economy.
Scarborough won the 2008/2009 award for the most creative and inspiring entrepreneurship initiative in Europe, and was also named as the most enterprising town in Britain in 2008.
