Our Slovak teachers receive excellent feedback from our clients. A profile, containing information about the Slovak teacher’s background and experience, is sent to each student before the Slovak lessons start.
Modern language teaching is now approached much differently to how you might remember learning languages in school. The experience is now much more fun and rewarding.
The Communicative Approach, where your Slovak teacher will conduct your lessons almost entirely in Slovak means that progress is made from your very first lesson. Soon, you will have such confidence that using Slovak in a social or business setting will be no problem. Both 1:1 and group formats are available for our Slovak language courses. While most of our clients offer 1:1 Slovak training, the group format can offer great value for money. If you want groups to be successful, the members must commit to the weekly meetings and we recommend keeping the number of participants below 7.
Progress is faster for those who learn Slovak in Leeds on a 1:1 basis as the lessons are individually tailored for their particular needs, strengths and weaknesses. Leeds Slovak Course SchedulesWe run our Slovak language courses in Leeds all through the year. Many of our students, if work commitments allow, will attend more than one session weekly, and the vast majority take part in at least one 90-minute lesson weekly.
We also arrange weekend Slovak courses on request. Our Slovak programs commence from 8am to 8pm Monday to Friday.
Intensive 30 hour per week Slovak language courses, held on clients’ premises or at residential centres in the UK or abroad, are also available on a 6 hours per day basis, Monday through Friday. Whatever your personal level of experience and future goals, your Slovak course will be customised for you. Before you start the course we will assess your level of Slovak and discuss in detail what you would like to focus on.
You may desire simply to gain everyday Slovak skills from the level of a complete beginner, or you may have more experience in Slovak and want to improve your ability to discuss banking, finance or marketing.
You may want to develop improved pronunciation and comprehension skills or improve your Slovak for use in negotiations and meetings.
Whatever your goals and needs, our highly experienced Slovak language trainers will tailor your Slovak course so that your goals will be met quickly. Slovak Language Examination CoursesIf you are taking a Slovak examination, for business or other reasons, we are happy to help you with your preparations. We are very proud of the 95% pass rate of our students in language examinations. We believe this highlights the value of working with Slovak teachers in Leeds whose experience is above average.
SIMON & SIMON can also register you for your Slovak examination, administer the examination and issue you your results. The table below is based on recognised language levels used by various academic institutions accross the European Union. A highly motivated student attending weekly sessions with their language trainer can expect to move from one level to another after 50 hours providing they also commit to a similar number of hours of self-study.
Of course, some people find learning languages easier than others, and some students will have more opportunities to practise the language in the course of their work and leisure, so these factors also need to be considered when trying to assess how long it will take to move from one level to another.

SIMON & SIMON International Breaking the Language Barrier Back to top of Slovak Courses Leeds Slovak is an Indo-European language that belongs to the West Slavic languages (together with Czech, Polish, Silesian, Kashubian, and Sorbian). Slovak is spoken in Slovakia (by 5 million people), also in the United States (1,200,000), the Czech Republic (350,000), Serbia (60,000), Ireland (30,000), Romania (22,000), Poland (20,000), Canada (20,000), Hungary (11,800), Croatia (5,000), Australia, Austria, Bulgaria and Ukraine. Leeds is a city and metropolitan borough in West Yorkshire, England. In 2001 Leeds' main urban subdivision had a population of 443,247, while the entire city had a population of 770,800 (2008 est.). Leeds is the cultural, financial and commercial heart of the West Yorkshire Urban Area, which at the 2001 census had a population of 1.5 million, and the Leeds city region, an economic area with Leeds at its core, had a population of 2.9 million. Leeds is the UK's largest centre for business, legal, and financial services outside London.
Historically a part of the West Riding of Yorkshire, Leeds can trace its recorded history to fifth century when the Kingdom of Elmet was covered by the forest of "Loidis", the origin of the name Leeds. The name has been applied to many administrative entities over the centuries. It changed from being the appellation of a small manorial borough, in the 13th century, through several incarnations, to being the name attached to the present metropolitan borough. In the 17th and 18th centuries Leeds became a major centre for the production and trading of wool. Then, during the Industrial Revolution, Leeds developed into a major industrial centre; wool was still the dominant industry but flax, engineering, iron foundries, printing and other industries were important. From being a compact market town in the valley of the River Aire in the 16th century Leeds expanded and absorbed the surrounding villages to become a populous urban centre by the mid-20th century.
