Private individuals and professionals in companies all over the UK have profited from undertaking a Slovak Language Course with SIMON & SIMON. Averaging 15 years of experience, our native Slovak speaking qualified teachers construct your course so that your individual requirements are met, no matter what your level of experience. Our Slovak teachers receive excellent feedback from our clients. A profile, containing information about the Slovak teacher’s background and experience, is sent to each student before the Slovak lessons start.

New teaching approaches have revolutionised how modern language training is now approached. This training, with more fun and a more worthwhile experience means that it’s a far cry from what you may remember of studying languages in school. When you start a Slovak course in Isle-of-Wight, you will make progress from the very first lesson, as almost everything will be done in Slovak. This is known as the Communicative Approach, and means that your confidence and ability will soon grow so that you can use Slovak to communicate in social and business settings.

Our Slovak language courses are available on both a 1:1 and group basis, but the majority of our clients offer 1:1 Slovak training to their employees. However, with careful planning, group training can offer great value for money, provided there is a real commitment from the participants to get together at the same time every week. We strongly recommend you keep group numbers to 6 or less for these types of courses to be successful. Those learning Slovak in at Isle-of-Wight on a 1:1 basis will naturally make much faster progress, as the course will be designed around their individual needs and focus on their particular strengths and weaknesses.

Slovak Course Management

SIMON & SIMON’s Slovak language courses all have a specific Account Manager who oversee the course. Each of these managers is highly experienced and multi-lingual. At the start of your Slovak course, you will receive a profile on your trainer, course materials and a Course Plan. After every 40 hours of training you will receive a Progress Report. We will send you our quarterly newsletter, Breaking the Language Barrier, which contains a wonderful prize draw as well as weblinks to valuable language learning resources.

Slovak language courses have been run by SIMON & SIMON in many locations. Our global network of language trainers means that any major city in the UK Europe, and beyond can hold your Slovak language course. We can arrange your Slovak language lessons for your own home, but many of our clients like to run them in their offices so as to minimise travel. Residential full-time Slovak language courses are also available. Our office can discuss available locations with you.

Most of our students participate in no less than one 90-minute lesson per week, but many students will participate in more if work commitments allow. Weekend Courses can be facilitated, and our Slovak weekday courses run from Monday to Friday, from 8am to 8pm. Intensive Slovak language courses are also available and can be run at the client’s premises or a residential centre in the UK or overseas. These courses take place over 6 hours a day, Monday through Friday, for 30 hours per week.

Your Slovak language course’s content will be tailored to your experience and goals. Prior to the course, we will assess your Slovak language level and speak to you comprehensively about the areas and subjects you are interested in. Students may be complete novices who need everyday Slovak conversational skills or have more proficiency in Slovak and wish to be able to discuss various business topics such as banking or finance more fluently. Students may desire to bolster their Slovak for negotiations and meetings or focus on gaining better listening, pronunciation and comprehension skills. No matter what your needs, you can be confident that our very experienced Slovak language trainers will work with you on a Slovak language course that is tailored for you so that you quickly meet your goals.

Our students boast a 95% rate of passing such examinations, proving the value of our policy of Slovak teachers in Isle-of-Wight with experience above the average. SIMON & SIMON also organises registration and administration of Slovak examinations as well as issuing results certificates as a part of our service.

The table below is based on recognised language levels used by various academic institutions accross the European Union. A highly motivated student attending weekly sessions with their language trainer can expect to move from one level to another after 50 hours providing they also commit to a similar number of hours of self-study.

Of course, some people find learning languages easier than others, and some students will have more opportunities to practise the language in the course of their work and leisure, so these factors also need to be considered when trying to assess how long it will take to move from one level to another.

Slovak is an Indo-European language that belongs to the West Slavic languages (together with Czech, Polish, Silesian, Kashubian, and Sorbian). Slovak is spoken in Slovakia (by 5 million people), also in the United States (1,200,000), the Czech Republic (350,000), Serbia (60,000), Ireland (30,000), Romania (22,000), Poland (20,000), Canada (20,000), Hungary (11,800), Croatia (5,000), Australia, Austria, Bulgaria and Ukraine.

The Isle of Wight is a county and the largest island of England, located in the English Channel, 3–5 miles (5–8 km) off the south coast of the county of Hampshire, separated from the mainland by a strait called the Solent. The island is known for its natural beauty, its sailing based at the town of Cowes, and its resorts, which have been holiday destinations since Victorian times. The Island has a rich history, including a brief status as an independent kingdom in the 15th century. Until 1995, in common with Jersey and Guernsey, the island had its own Governor - most notably Lord Mountbatten from 1969–1974, after which he became Lord Lieutenant until his assassination in 1979. It was home to the poet Alfred Lord Tennyson, and to Queen Victoria, who built her much loved summer residence and final home Osborne House at East Cowes. The island's maritime and industrial history encompasses boat building, sail making, the manufacture of flying boats, the world's first hovercraft and the testing and development of Britain's space rockets. It is home to the Isle of Wight International Jazz Festival, Bestival and the recently-revived Isle of Wight Festival, which, in 1970, was the largest rock music event ever held. The island has some exceptional wildlife and is one of the richest locations of dinosaur fossils in Europe. In the past, the Isle of Wight has been part of Hampshire. In 1890, it became an independent administrative county, though it continued to share the Lord Lieutenant of Hampshire.
