All over the UK, private individuals and professionals in a variety of companies have gained benefits by taking part in a Slovak Language Course from SIMON & SIMON. With an average of 15 years’ experience, the native Slovak speakers of SIMON & SIMON’s qualified teaching team tailor each course for the specific requirements of the student, from absolute novices to those with some experience. Our clients reliably give excellent feedback on our Slovak teachers. Each of our students receives an information profile on the background and experience of their Slovak teacher before they commence their Slovak lessons.

If you have only studied languages before at school you will find that teaching approaches to modern language training have changed enormously in recent years - it's now a lot more fun and a far more rewarding experience! Your teacher will conduct your Slovak lesson in Glasgow almost entirely in Slovak - a method known as the Communicative Approach - and you will find yourself making progress from the very first lesson and soon growing in the confidence to communicate in Slovak in a variety of social and business situations.

Both 1:1 and group formats are available for our Slovak language courses. While most of our clients offer 1:1 Slovak training, the group format can offer great value for money. If you want groups to be successful, the members must commit to the weekly meetings and we recommend keeping the number of participants below 7. Progress is faster for those who learn Slovak in Glasgow on a 1:1 basis as the lessons are individually tailored for their particular needs, strengths and weaknesses.

Slovak Course Management

One of our highly experienced, multilingual Account managers oversees each SIMON & SIMON Slovak language course. On starting your Slovak course you will receive various materials including a profile on your trainer, a Course Plan and course materials and a Progress Report on every 40 hours of your training. Breaking the Language Barrier, our quarterly newsletter, which contains weblinks to various language learning sources and a prize draw, will also be sent to you.

SIMON & SIMON has arranged Slovak language courses for clients in numerous locations, and with our global network of language trainers we can organise a Slovak language course for you wherever you are - in almost any major city in the UK, Europe and beyond. The vast majority of our Slovak lessons take place at our clients' offices, removing the need for you to travel, but Slovak lessons can take place in your home if that is more convenient. We can also arrange full-time residential Slovak language courses for you - just contact our office for information on available destinations.

Glasgow Slovak Course Schedules

Our Slovak language courses in Glasgow go on all year. Some of our students attend more than one 90-minute weekly session if work circumstances allow, and most will attend at least one per week. Weekend Courses in Slovak can be arranged on request. Our Slovak courses are available 12 hours a day, from 8am to 8pm Monday through Friday. 30 hour per week intensive Slovak courses can be held on clients’ premises or in residential centres in the UK or abroad. These courses take 6 hours per day, Monday through Friday.

We will tailor your Slovak language course for your specific aims and level of knowledge. Before you start your Slovak language course we will assess your goals and level of Slovak experience. Your desire to learn Slovak may be simply to develop basic skills, or you may have some level of proficiency and wish to increase your ability to use Slovak to discuss business. You may want to develop your language skills so that you can use Slovak in negotiations and meetings or improve your pronunciation and telephone skills. No matter what goals you have, you can be confident of our Slovak trainers experience and that your Slovak language course is tailored to your needs and your goals will be quickly met.

Slovak Language Examination Courses

Our students’ pass rate for Slovak examinations is at 95%, and we are happy to help with the preparations for any such examination. Our high pass rate shows the value of working with Slovak teachers in Glasgow who have a higher level of experience than average. SIMON & SIMON also arrange registration for Slovak examinations as well as administering the examination and issuing the results.

The table below is based on recognised language levels used by various academic institutions accross the European Union. A highly motivated student attending weekly sessions with their language trainer can expect to move from one level to another after 50 hours providing they also commit to a similar number of hours of self-study.

Of course, some people find learning languages easier than others, and some students will have more opportunities to practise the language in the course of their work and leisure, so these factors also need to be considered when trying to assess how long it will take to move from one level to another.

Back to top of Slovak Courses Glasgow

Slovak is an Indo-European language that belongs to the West Slavic languages (together with Czech, Polish, Silesian, Kashubian, and Sorbian). Slovak is spoken in Slovakia (by 5 million people), also in the United States (1,200,000), the Czech Republic (350,000), Serbia (60,000), Ireland (30,000), Romania (22,000), Poland (20,000), Canada (20,000), Hungary (11,800), Croatia (5,000), Australia, Austria, Bulgaria and Ukraine.

Glasgow is the largest city in Scotland and third most populous in the United Kingdom. The city is situated on the River Clyde in the country's west central lowlands. A person from Glasgow is known as a Glaswegian or as locals say "weegie". Glasgow grew from the medieval Bishopric of Glasgow and the later establishment of the University of Glasgow in the 15th century, which subsequently became a major centre of the Scottish Enlightenment in the 18th century. From the 18th century the city also grew as one of Britain's main hubs of transatlantic trade with British North America and the British West Indies. With the Industrial Revolution, the city and surrounding region shifted to become one of the world's pre-eminent centres of Heavy Engineering, most notably in the Shipbuilding and Marine engineering industry, which produced many innovative and famous vessels. Glasgow was known as the "Second City of the British Empire" for much of the Victorian era and Edwardian period. Today it is one of Europe's top twenty financial centres and is home to many of Scotland's leading businesses. Glasgow is also ranked as the 57th most liveable city in the world.
