Private individuals and professionals in companies all over the UK have profited from undertaking a Slovak Language Course with SIMON & SIMON. Averaging 15 years of experience, our native Slovak speaking qualified teachers construct your course so that your individual requirements are met, no matter what your level of experience. Our Slovak teachers receive excellent feedback from our clients. A profile, containing information about the Slovak teacher’s background and experience, is sent to each student before the Slovak lessons start.

If the only experience you have of studying a language is from your time in school, you may not know that there has been a revolution in the teaching of modern languages so that it is both more fun and more worthwhile. Your Slovak teacher in Bristol will be using the Communicative Approach, where your lessons will, with few exceptions, be conducted in Slovak. You will see your progress from that very first lesson and will soon be confident enough to conduct business or talk socially in Slovak.

Our Slovak courses are usually offered by our clients as 1:1 training for their employees. Group sessions, however, are also available and can be excellent value for money. Planning is required so that participants all meet at the same time each week, and we recommend that numbers are kept to 6 or less. 1:1 Slovak lessons at Bristol mean that you will have your individual needs, weaknesses and strengths catered for, so that your progress is quicker.

Slovak Course Management

SIMON & SIMON’s Slovak language courses all have a specific Account Manager who oversee the course. Each of these managers is highly experienced and multi-lingual. At the start of your Slovak course, you will receive a profile on your trainer, course materials and a Course Plan. After every 40 hours of training you will receive a Progress Report. We will send you our quarterly newsletter, Breaking the Language Barrier, which contains a wonderful prize draw as well as weblinks to valuable language learning resources.

SIMON & SIMON’s Slovak language courses have been run for clients in many different locations. With a global network of language trainers a Slovak language course can be held in almost any major city throughout Europe and elsewhere. We can arrange Slovak language courses in your home or, as many of our clients prefer, in your offices to remove the need for you to travel. Full-time residential Slovak language courses are also an option. For a list of locations, please contact our office.

Bristol Slovak Course Schedules

The Slovak language courses in Bristol that we run go on through the year. Each week, most of our students will attend at least one of our 90-minute lessons, but many will do more. We can easily arrange Weekend Courses for you. Slovak courses run from Monday to Friday, any time from 8am to 8pm. Intensive Slovak language courses can be arranged in residential centres abroad or in the UK, or on clients’ premises for 30 hours per week, 6 hours a day Monday to Friday.

Before you start your Slovak language course we will assess your level of Slovak and speak to you about your aims so that your Slovak language course can be customised for you. You may have never been exposed to Slovak before and wish to develop basic survival skills, or you may have some experience and wish to be able to speak more fluently in Slovak when discussing business. You may want to further your ability to use Slovak in negotiations and meetings or better your comprehension and pronunciation abilities. Whatever goals you may have, our experienced Slovak language trainers will tailor your Slovak course so that your goals can be quickly met.

Slovak Language Examination Courses

We are happy to help in your preparation for any Slovak examinations. Our students have a 95% pass rate and we think that their success shows the value of our policy of working with above-average experienced Slovak teachers in Bristol. Issuing of results certificates, registration for Slovak examinations and administration of such exams is also provided by SIMON & SIMON.

The table below is based on recognised language levels used by various academic institutions accross the European Union. A highly motivated student attending weekly sessions with their language trainer can expect to move from one level to another after 50 hours providing they also commit to a similar number of hours of self-study.

Of course, some people find learning languages easier than others, and some students will have more opportunities to practise the language in the course of their work and leisure, so these factors also need to be considered when trying to assess how long it will take to move from one level to another.

Back to top of Slovak Courses Bristol

Slovak is an Indo-European language that belongs to the West Slavic languages (together with Czech, Polish, Silesian, Kashubian, and Sorbian). Slovak is spoken in Slovakia (by 5 million people), also in the United States (1,200,000), the Czech Republic (350,000), Serbia (60,000), Ireland (30,000), Romania (22,000), Poland (20,000), Canada (20,000), Hungary (11,800), Croatia (5,000), Australia, Austria, Bulgaria and Ukraine.

Bristol is a city, unitary authority area and ceremonial county in South West England, with an estimated population of 433,100 for the unitary authority in 2009, and a surrounding Larger Urban Zone (LUZ) with an estimated 1,006,600 residents, it is England's sixth, and the United Kingdom's eighth most populous city, one of the group of English Core Cities and the most populous city in South West England. Bristol received a Royal Charter in 1155 and was granted County status in 1373. From the 13th century, for half a millennium, it ranked amongst the top three English cities after London, alongside York and Norwich, on the basis of tax receipts, until the rapid rise of Liverpool, Birmingham and Manchester during the Industrial Revolution in the latter part of the 18th century. It borders the counties of Somerset and Gloucestershire, and is also located near the historic cities of Bath to the south east and Gloucester to the north. The city is built around the River Avon, and it also has a short coastline on the Severn Estuary, which flows into the Bristol Channel. Bristol is the largest centre of culture, employment and education in the region. Its prosperity has been linked with the sea since its earliest days. The commercial Port of Bristol was originally in the city centre before being moved to the Severn Estuary at Avonmouth; Royal Portbury Dock is on the western edge of the city boundary.
