All over the UK, private individuals and professionals in a variety of companies have gained benefits by taking part in a Serbian Language Course from SIMON & SIMON. With an average of 15 years’ experience, the native Serbian speakers of SIMON & SIMON’s qualified teaching team tailor each course for the specific requirements of the student, from absolute novices to those with some experience. Our clients reliably give excellent feedback on our Serbian teachers. Each of our students receives an information profile on the background and experience of their Serbian teacher before they commence their Serbian lessons.

If you have only studied languages before at school you will find that teaching approaches to modern language training have changed enormously in recent years - it's now a lot more fun and a far more rewarding experience! Your teacher will conduct your Serbian lesson in Somerset almost entirely in Serbian - a method known as the Communicative Approach - and you will find yourself making progress from the very first lesson and soon growing in the confidence to communicate in Serbian in a variety of social and business situations.

The Serbian courses that we offer can be run as 1:1 or group sessions. While most of our clients use 1:1 Serbian training for their employees, group sessions can be good value. Participants numbers should be kept to 6 or less, and they will need to commit to meeting every week. If you require faster progress, 1:1 Serbian courses at Somerset are more suitable as the lessons and course can be tailored to the individual’s needs while focusing on their specific weaknesses and strengths.

Serbian Course Management

A multi-lingual Account Manager with extensive experience is responsible for each SIMON & SIMON Serbian language course. A profile on your trainer, Course Plan and course materials will be sent to you when you start your Serbian course. After every 40 hours of training you will receive a Progress Report. We will also send you Breaking the Language Barrier, our quarterly newsletter, which contains a wonderful prize draw and valuable language learning resource weblinks.

The Serbian language courses of SIMON & SIMON have been run in numerous locations. As we have a global network of language trainers your Serbian language course can be arranged in major cities across Europe and further afield. Most of our clients arrange for their Serbian lessons to be run in their offices so that there is less need for travel, but we can also run Serbian lessons in your home. We also run residential full-time Serbian language courses in a variety of locations which our office will be happy to inform you of.

Somerset Serbian Course Schedules

We run our Serbian language courses in Somerset all through the year. Many of our students, if work commitments allow, will attend more than one session weekly, and the vast majority take part in at least one 90-minute lesson weekly. We also arrange weekend Serbian courses on request. Our Serbian programs commence from 8am to 8pm Monday to Friday. Intensive 30 hour per week Serbian language courses, held on clients’ premises or at residential centres in the UK or abroad, are also available on a 6 hours per day basis, Monday through Friday.

Whatever your personal level of experience and future goals, your Serbian course will be customised for you. Before you start the course we will assess your level of Serbian and discuss in detail what you would like to focus on. You may desire simply to gain everyday Serbian skills from the level of a complete beginner, or you may have more experience in Serbian and want to improve your ability to discuss banking, finance or marketing. You may want to develop improved pronunciation and comprehension skills or improve your Serbian for use in negotiations and meetings. Whatever your goals and needs, our highly experienced Serbian language trainers will tailor your Serbian course so that your goals will be met quickly.

Serbian Language Examination Courses

If you are taking a Serbian examination, for business or other reasons, we are happy to help you with your preparations. We are very proud of the 95% pass rate of our students in language examinations. We believe this highlights the value of working with Serbian teachers in Somerset whose experience is above average. SIMON & SIMON can also register you for your Serbian examination, administer the examination and issue you your results.

The table below is based on recognised language levels used by various academic institutions accross the European Union. A highly motivated student attending weekly sessions with their language trainer can expect to move from one level to another after 50 hours providing they also commit to a similar number of hours of self-study.

Of course, some people find learning languages easier than others, and some students will have more opportunities to practise the language in the course of their work and leisure, so these factors also need to be considered when trying to assess how long it will take to move from one level to another.

Back to top of Serbian Courses Somerset

Serbian is a form of Serbo-Croatian spoken by Serbs in Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Croatia and neighbouring countries. There are two principal Serbian dialects, Shtokavian and Torlakian. The literary and standard language is based on Shtokavian, which is also the basis of Standard Croatian, Bosnian, and Montenegrin. Serbian is standardized around Sumadija-Vojvodina and Eastern Herzegovinian subdialects of Shtokavian. Apart from Shtokavian, the Torlak dialect, transitional to Macedonian and Bulgarian, is spoken in southeast Serbia.

Somerset is a county in South West England. The county town of Somerset is Taunton, which is in the south of the county. The ceremonial county of Somerset borders the counties of Bristol and Gloucestershire to the north, Wiltshire to the east, Dorset to the south-east, and Devon to the south-west. It is partly bounded to the north and west by the coast of the Bristol Channel and the estuary of the River Severn. The traditional northern border of the county is the River Avon, but the administrative boundary has crept southwards, with the creation and expansion of the City of Bristol, and latterly the county of Avon and its successor Unitary Authorities in the north. Somerset is a rural county of rolling hills such as the Mendip Hills, Quantock Hills and Exmoor National Park, and large flat expanses of land including the Somerset Levels. There is evidence of human occupation from Neolithic times, and subsequent settlement in the Roman and Saxon periods. Later, the county played a significant part in the consolidation of power and rise of King Alfred the Great, the English Civil War and the Monmouth Rebellion.
