Averaging 15 years of experience, our native Serbian speaking qualified teachers construct your course so that your individual requirements are met, no matter what your level of experience.
Our Serbian teachers receive excellent feedback from our clients. A profile, containing information about the Serbian teacher’s background and experience, is sent to each student before the Serbian lessons start.
If you have only studied languages before at school you will find that teaching approaches to modern language training have changed enormously in recent years - it's now a lot more fun and a far more rewarding experience!
Your teacher will conduct your Serbian lesson in Reading almost entirely in Serbian - a method known as the Communicative Approach - and you will find yourself making progress from the very first lesson and soon growing in the confidence to communicate in Serbian in a variety of social and business situations. Serbian courses from us can be run for groups or individuals. While many of our clients offer their employees Serbian courses on a 1:1 basis, group sessions can be excellent value. Group sessions do require planning and commitment from the participants and we recommend that no more than 6 people participate in a group.
As 1:1 lessons can be tailored to an individual’s needs, strengths and weaknesses, learning Serbian in Reading on a 1:1 basis will give quicker progress. Serbian Course ManagementOne of our highly experienced, multilingual Account managers oversees each SIMON & SIMON Serbian language course.
On starting your Serbian course you will receive various materials including a profile on your trainer, a Course Plan and course materials and a Progress Report on every 40 hours of your training. Breaking the Language Barrier, our quarterly newsletter, which contains weblinks to various language learning sources and a prize draw, will also be sent to you. SIMON & SIMON’s Serbian language courses have been run for clients in many different locations. With a global network of language trainers a Serbian language course can be held in almost any major city throughout Europe and elsewhere.
We can arrange Serbian language courses in your home or, as many of our clients prefer, in your offices to remove the need for you to travel.
Full-time residential Serbian language courses are also an option. For a list of locations, please contact our office.
Reading Serbian Course SchedulesWe run our Serbian language courses in Reading all through the year. Many of our students, if work commitments allow, will attend more than one session weekly, and the vast majority take part in at least one 90-minute lesson weekly.
We also arrange weekend Serbian courses on request. Our Serbian programs commence from 8am to 8pm Monday to Friday.
Intensive 30 hour per week Serbian language courses, held on clients’ premises or at residential centres in the UK or abroad, are also available on a 6 hours per day basis, Monday through Friday. Whatever your personal level of experience and future goals, your Serbian course will be customised for you. Before you start the course we will assess your level of Serbian and discuss in detail what you would like to focus on.
You may desire simply to gain everyday Serbian skills from the level of a complete beginner, or you may have more experience in Serbian and want to improve your ability to discuss banking, finance or marketing.
You may want to develop improved pronunciation and comprehension skills or improve your Serbian for use in negotiations and meetings.
Whatever your goals and needs, our highly experienced Serbian language trainers will tailor your Serbian course so that your goals will be met quickly. Serbian Language Examination CoursesIf you are taking a Serbian examination, for business or other reasons, we are happy to help you with your preparations. We are very proud of the 95% pass rate of our students in language examinations. We believe this highlights the value of working with Serbian teachers in Reading whose experience is above average.
SIMON & SIMON can also register you for your Serbian examination, administer the examination and issue you your results. The table below is based on recognised language levels used by various academic institutions accross the European Union. A highly motivated student attending weekly sessions with their language trainer can expect to move from one level to another after 50 hours providing they also commit to a similar number of hours of self-study.
Of course, some people find learning languages easier than others, and some students will have more opportunities to practise the language in the course of their work and leisure, so these factors also need to be considered when trying to assess how long it will take to move from one level to another.

SIMON & SIMON International Breaking the Language Barrier Back to top of Serbian Courses Reading Serbian is a form of Serbo-Croatian spoken by Serbs in Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Croatia and neighbouring countries. There are two principal Serbian dialects, Shtokavian and Torlakian. The literary and standard language is based on Shtokavian, which is also the basis of Standard Croatian, Bosnian, and Montenegrin. Serbian is standardized around Sumadija-Vojvodina and Eastern Herzegovinian subdialects of Shtokavian. Apart from Shtokavian, the Torlak dialect, transitional to Macedonian and Bulgarian, is spoken in southeast Serbia. Reading is a large town and unitary authority area in England, located at the confluence of the River Thames and River Kennet, and on both the Great Western Main Line railway and the M4 motorway, some 40 miles (64 km) west of London. For ceremonial purposes it is in the Royal County of Berkshire and has served as the county town since 1867.
Reading was an important national centre in the medieval period, as the site of an important monastery with strong royal connections. Today it remains a commercial centre, with links to information technology and insurance. Reading also hosts two universities, a large student population, and is home to one of England's biggest music festivals.
The settlement was founded at the confluence of the River Thames and River Kennet in the 8th century as Readingum. The name probably comes from the Readingas, an Anglo-Saxon tribe whose name means "Reada's People" in Old English, or (less probably) the Celtic Rhydd-Inge, "Ford over the River". The name of the settlement was derived from an earlier folk, or tribal, name. Anglo-Saxon names ending in -ingas originally referred not to a place but to a people, in this case specifically the descendants or followers of a man named Reada, literally "The Red One."
