Serbian Course Management

Newcastle Serbian Course Schedules

The Serbian language courses in Newcastle that we run go on through the year. Each week, most of our students will attend at least one of our 90-minute lessons, but many will do more. We can easily arrange Weekend Courses for you. Serbian courses run from Monday to Friday, any time from 8am to 8pm. Intensive Serbian language courses can be arranged in residential centres abroad or in the UK, or on clients’ premises for 30 hours per week, 6 hours a day Monday to Friday.

Before you start your Serbian language course we will assess your level of Serbian and speak to you about your aims so that your Serbian language course can be customised for you. You may have never been exposed to Serbian before and wish to develop basic survival skills, or you may have some experience and wish to be able to speak more fluently in Serbian when discussing business. You may want to further your ability to use Serbian in negotiations and meetings or better your comprehension and pronunciation abilities. Whatever goals you may have, our experienced Serbian language trainers will tailor your Serbian course so that your goals can be quickly met.

Serbian Language Examination Courses

We are happy to help in your preparation for any Serbian examinations. Our students have a 95% pass rate and we think that their success shows the value of our policy of working with above-average experienced Serbian teachers in Newcastle. Issuing of results certificates, registration for Serbian examinations and administration of such exams is also provided by SIMON & SIMON.

The table below is based on recognised language levels used by various academic institutions accross the European Union. A highly motivated student attending weekly sessions with their language trainer can expect to move from one level to another after 50 hours providing they also commit to a similar number of hours of self-study.

Of course, some people find learning languages easier than others, and some students will have more opportunities to practise the language in the course of their work and leisure, so these factors also need to be considered when trying to assess how long it will take to move from one level to another.

Serbian is a form of Serbo-Croatian spoken by Serbs in Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Croatia and neighbouring countries. There are two principal Serbian dialects, Shtokavian and Torlakian. The literary and standard language is based on Shtokavian, which is also the basis of Standard Croatian, Bosnian, and Montenegrin. Serbian is standardized around Sumadija-Vojvodina and Eastern Herzegovinian subdialects of Shtokavian. Apart from Shtokavian, the Torlak dialect, transitional to Macedonian and Bulgarian, is spoken in southeast Serbia.

Newcastle upon Tyne is a city and metropolitan borough of Tyne and Wear, in North East England.
