Russian Course Management

SIMON & SIMON’s Russian language courses all have a specific Account Manager who oversee the course. Each of these managers is highly experienced and multi-lingual. At the start of your Russian course, you will receive a profile on your trainer, course materials and a Course Plan. After every 40 hours of training you will receive a Progress Report. We will send you our quarterly newsletter, Breaking the Language Barrier, which contains a wonderful prize draw as well as weblinks to valuable language learning resources.

SIMON & SIMON Russian language courses have been arranged for clients in various locations. We have a global network of trainers and wherever you are, we will be able to organise a Russian language course for you, not only in the UK but in almost any of the major cities in Europe and beyond. Most of our Russian courses are run at the offices of our clients so that you do not have to travel, but we are happy to arrange Russian training sessions for you in your home. Full-time Russian courses can be arranged in a residential setting for you. Our office has information on the locations we offer.

West Midlands Russian Course Schedules

Our Russian language courses in West Midlands run throughout the year. The majority of our students attend at least one 90-minute session per week and many students will try to do more than one session depending on work commitments. Our Russian teachers are available Monday - Friday from 8am - 8pm, and Weekend Courses can also be arranged on request. Our intensive Russian language courses run for 30 hours per week, (6 hours per day Monday - Friday), and take place on our clients' premises or at a residential centre here in the UK or abroad.

The content of your Russian language course will reflect your level and your particular objectives. We will assess your Russian language level before your course, and discuss with you in detail the subject areas you wish to focus on. You may be a complete beginner looking for day-to-day Russian survival language skills, or a more proficient Russian speaker needing to improve your fluency when discussing areas such as law, banking, finance, insurance, sales, travel, marketing, and administration. You may want to focus on improving your Russian for meetings, discussions and negotiations, or to concentrate on improving your listening comprehension, pronunciation and telephone skills. Whatever your needs, working with one of our highly experienced Russian language trainers you can be confident that the content of your Russian language course will be tailored just for you and that you will soon be meeting your objectives.

Russian Language Examination Courses

We can also help prepare you for Russian examinations of a business or general nature. We are proud to say our students have a 95% pass rate in language examinations, and their success further underlines the value we place on working with Russian teachers in West Midlands with above average experience. As part of our service, SIMON & SIMON will also organise the registration and administration of Russian examinations and the issuing of result certificates.

The table below is based on recognised language levels used by various academic institutions accross the European Union. A highly motivated student attending weekly sessions with their language trainer can expect to move from one level to another after 50 hours providing they also commit to a similar number of hours of self-study.

Of course, some people find learning languages easier than others, and some students will have more opportunities to practise the language in the course of their work and leisure, so these factors also need to be considered when trying to assess how long it will take to move from one level to another.

Russian is a Slavic language used primarily in Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. It is an unofficial but widely spoken language in Ukraine, Latvia and Estonia and, to a lesser extent, the other countries that were once constituent republics of the USSR. It is the most geographically widespread language of Eurasia, the most widely spoken of the Slavic languages, and the largest native language in Europe. Russian belongs to the family of Indo-European languages and is one of three (or four including Rusyn) living members of the East Slavic languages. Written examples of Old East Slavonic are attested from the 10th century onwards. The language is one of the six official languages of the United Nations.

The West Midlands is an official region of England, covering the western half of the area traditionally known as the Midlands. It contains the second most populous British city, Birmingham, and the larger West Midlands conurbation, which includes the city of Wolverhampton and large towns of Dudley, Solihull, Walsall and West Bromwich. The city of Coventry is also located within the West Midlands county, but is separated from the conurbation to the west by several miles of green belt.
