Russian Course Management

Every SIMON & SIMON Russian language course has a highly experienced, multi-lingual Account Manager who oversees it. When your Russian course starts you will be sent a profile on your trainer, materials for your course and a Course Plan as well as a Progress Report for every 40 hours of training. Breaking the Language Barrier, our quarterly newsletter that you will also receive, contains a prize draw as well as weblinks to a number of learning resources.

The Russian language courses of SIMON & SIMON have been run in numerous locations. As we have a global network of language trainers your Russian language course can be arranged in major cities across Europe and further afield. Most of our clients arrange for their Russian lessons to be run in their offices so that there is less need for travel, but we can also run Russian lessons in your home. We also run residential full-time Russian language courses in a variety of locations which our office will be happy to inform you of.

Sussex Russian Course Schedules

Our Russian language courses in Sussex take place throughout the year. Many of our students try to attend more than one weekly lesson if work commitments allow, and most will attend at least one session of 90-minutes duration per week. If you would like a Weekend Course, one can be arranged. Our Russian daytime courses run from 8am through to 8pm, Monday - Friday. We also provide Intensive Russian language courses on clients’ premises or in residential centres both in the UK and abroad. These courses run for 30 hours of the week, 6 hours a day from Monday to Friday.

The Russian language course that you undertake will be customised for your Russian level and personal goals. Before you start the course, we will speak to you about your desired focus and assess you Russian level. You may have little or no experience of Russian and only want basic conversational skills or you may be more proficient and desire more fluency with which to discuss business. You may want to raise your Russian skills for use in meetings and negotiations or rather develop increased comprehension and pronunciation skills. Whatever your objectives, our Russian language trainers are highly experienced, and you can be confident that your personalised Russian course will help you to meet your goals quickly.

Russian Language Examination Courses

SIMON & SIMON also assists in preparation for Russian examinations, whether for business or personal qualification. We believe that our 95% pass rate for language examinations is a reflection of our policy of working with Russian teachers in Sussex who possess above average experience. Registration for and administration of Russian examinations, along with the issuing of results certificates are all provided by SIMON & SIMON.

The table below is based on recognised language levels used by various academic institutions accross the European Union. A highly motivated student attending weekly sessions with their language trainer can expect to move from one level to another after 50 hours providing they also commit to a similar number of hours of self-study.

Of course, some people find learning languages easier than others, and some students will have more opportunities to practise the language in the course of their work and leisure, so these factors also need to be considered when trying to assess how long it will take to move from one level to another.

Russian is a Slavic language used primarily in Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. It is an unofficial but widely spoken language in Ukraine, Latvia and Estonia and, to a lesser extent, the other countries that were once constituent republics of the USSR. It is the most geographically widespread language of Eurasia, the most widely spoken of the Slavic languages, and the largest native language in Europe. Russian belongs to the family of Indo-European languages and is one of three (or four including Rusyn) living members of the East Slavic languages. Written examples of Old East Slavonic are attested from the 10th century onwards. The language is one of the six official languages of the United Nations.

Sussex is an historic county in South East England corresponding roughly in area to the ancient Kingdom of Sussex. It is bounded on the north by Surrey, east by Kent, south by the English Channel, and west by Hampshire, and is divided for local government into West Sussex and East Sussex and the city of Brighton and Hove. The city of Brighton & Hove was created a unitary authority in 1997; and was granted City status in 2000. Until then Chichester had been Sussex's only city. The divisions of West Sussex and East Sussex were first established in 1189, and had obtained separate administrations (Quarter Sessions) by the 16th century. This situation was recognised by the County of Sussex Act 1865. Under the Local Government Act 1888 the two divisions became two administrative counties (along with three county boroughs: Brighton, Hastings and, from 1911, Eastbourne). The appellation Sussex remained in use as a ceremonial county until 1974, when the Lord-Lieutenant of Sussex was replaced with one each for East and West Sussex. The whole of Sussex has had a single police force since 1968.
