Both professionals and non-professionals alike have seen great benefits from a SIMON & SIMON Russian Language Course. SIMON & SIMON’s team of qualified Russian teachers is made up of native speakers who average 15 years of experience. These teachers will make sure that a course is tailored for your specific needs so that you will benefit regardless of your language proficiency. Feedback from clients on our Russian tutors is consistently highly positive. Our students are sent a profile containing information on their specific teacher’s experience and background before the start of their Russian Lessons.

Modern language teaching is now approached much differently to how you might remember learning languages in school. The experience is now much more fun and rewarding. The Communicative Approach, where your Russian teacher will conduct your lessons almost entirely in Russian means that progress is made from your very first lesson. Soon, you will have such confidence that using Russian in a social or business setting will be no problem.

The Russian courses that we offer can be run as 1:1 or group sessions. While most of our clients use 1:1 Russian training for their employees, group sessions can be good value. Participants numbers should be kept to 6 or less, and they will need to commit to meeting every week. If you require faster progress, 1:1 Russian courses at Sunderland are more suitable as the lessons and course can be tailored to the individual’s needs while focusing on their specific weaknesses and strengths.

Russian Course Management

Every SIMON & SIMON Russian language course has a highly experienced, multi-lingual Account Manager who oversees it. When your Russian course starts you will be sent a profile on your trainer, materials for your course and a Course Plan as well as a Progress Report for every 40 hours of training. Breaking the Language Barrier, our quarterly newsletter that you will also receive, contains a prize draw as well as weblinks to a number of learning resources.

We have a global network of language trainers so our Russian language courses can be arranged for almost any major European city, or even further abroad. SIMON & SIMON have run Russian language courses for clients in many diverse locations. Russian language courses can be run in your home for your convenience, but many of our clients prefer to run them in their offices so as to minimise travel. For a list of the locations of the full-time residential Russian language courses that we offer, contact our office.

Sunderland Russian Course Schedules

Our Russian language courses in Sunderland go on all year. Some of our students attend more than one 90-minute weekly session if work circumstances allow, and most will attend at least one per week. Weekend Courses in Russian can be arranged on request. Our Russian courses are available 12 hours a day, from 8am to 8pm Monday through Friday. 30 hour per week intensive Russian courses can be held on clients’ premises or in residential centres in the UK or abroad. These courses take 6 hours per day, Monday through Friday.

We will tailor your Russian language course for your specific aims and level of knowledge. Before you start your Russian language course we will assess your goals and level of Russian experience. Your desire to learn Russian may be simply to develop basic skills, or you may have some level of proficiency and wish to increase your ability to use Russian to discuss business. You may want to develop your language skills so that you can use Russian in negotiations and meetings or improve your pronunciation and telephone skills. No matter what goals you have, you can be confident of our Russian trainers experience and that your Russian language course is tailored to your needs and your goals will be quickly met.

Russian Language Examination Courses

Our students’ pass rate for Russian examinations is at 95%, and we are happy to help with the preparations for any such examination. Our high pass rate shows the value of working with Russian teachers in Sunderland who have a higher level of experience than average. SIMON & SIMON also arrange registration for Russian examinations as well as administering the examination and issuing the results.

The table below is based on recognised language levels used by various academic institutions accross the European Union. A highly motivated student attending weekly sessions with their language trainer can expect to move from one level to another after 50 hours providing they also commit to a similar number of hours of self-study.

Of course, some people find learning languages easier than others, and some students will have more opportunities to practise the language in the course of their work and leisure, so these factors also need to be considered when trying to assess how long it will take to move from one level to another.

Russian is a Slavic language used primarily in Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. It is an unofficial but widely spoken language in Ukraine, Latvia and Estonia and, to a lesser extent, the other countries that were once constituent republics of the USSR. It is the most geographically widespread language of Eurasia, the most widely spoken of the Slavic languages, and the largest native language in Europe. Russian belongs to the family of Indo-European languages and is one of three (or four including Rusyn) living members of the East Slavic languages. Written examples of Old East Slavonic are attested from the 10th century onwards. The language is one of the six official languages of the United Nations.

The City of Sunderland is a local government district of Tyne and Wear, in North East England, with the status of a city and metropolitan borough. It is named after its largest settlement, Sunderland, but covers a far larger area which includes the towns of Hetton-le-Hole, Houghton-le-Spring, Washington, and a range of suburban villages. The district was formed in 1974 as the Metropolitan Borough of Sunderland as part of the provisions of the Local Government Act 1972 and is an amalgamation of four former local government districts of County Durham. It was granted city status in 1992, the 40th anniversary of the Queen Elizabeth II's accession. The city had a population of 280,807 at the time of the 2001 census, with the majority of the population (177,739) residing in Sunderland. The metropolitan borough was formed in 1974 under the Local Government Act 1972 by the merger of several districts of County Durham - Washington Urban District, Houghton-le-Spring Urban District and Hetton Urban District - with the County Borough of Sunderland. The metropolitan borough was granted city status in 1992, the 40th anniversary of the Queen's accession. At the Queen's Golden Jubilee the city petitioned to be allowed a Lord Mayor, but was unsuccessful. Although the city does not have a Cathedral, as it is located in the Diocese of Durham, it does have Sunderland Minster.
