Russian Course Management

SIMON & SIMON’s Russian language courses all have a specific Account Manager who oversee the course. Each of these managers is highly experienced and multi-lingual. At the start of your Russian course, you will receive a profile on your trainer, course materials and a Course Plan. After every 40 hours of training you will receive a Progress Report. We will send you our quarterly newsletter, Breaking the Language Barrier, which contains a wonderful prize draw as well as weblinks to valuable language learning resources.

SIMON & SIMON Russian language courses have been arranged for clients in various locations. We have a global network of trainers and wherever you are, we will be able to organise a Russian language course for you, not only in the UK but in almost any of the major cities in Europe and beyond. Most of our Russian courses are run at the offices of our clients so that you do not have to travel, but we are happy to arrange Russian training sessions for you in your home. Lancashire Russian Course Schedules

Our Russian language courses in Lancashire go on all year. Some of our students attend more than one 90-minute weekly session if work circumstances allow, and most will attend at least one per week. Weekend Courses in Russian can be arranged on request. Our Russian courses are available 12 hours a day, from 8am to 8pm Monday through Friday. 30 hour per week intensive Russian courses can be held on clients’ premises or in residential centres in the UK or abroad. These courses take 6 hours per day, Monday through Friday.

We will tailor your Russian language course for your specific aims and level of knowledge. Before you start your Russian language course we will assess your goals and level of Russian experience. Your desire to learn Russian may be simply to develop basic skills, or you may have some level of proficiency and wish to increase your ability to use Russian to discuss business. You may want to develop your language skills so that you can use Russian in negotiations and meetings or improve your pronunciation and telephone skills. Russian Language Examination Courses

Our students’ pass rate for Russian examinations is at 95%, and we are happy to help with the preparations for any such examination. Our high pass rate shows the value of working with Russian teachers in Lancashire who have a higher level of experience than average. SIMON & SIMON also arrange registration for Russian examinations as well as administering the examination and issuing the results.

The table below is based on recognised language levels used by various academic institutions accross the European Union. A highly motivated student attending weekly sessions with their language trainer can expect to move from one level to another after 50 hours providing they also commit to a similar number of hours of self-study.

Of course, some people find learning languages easier than others, and some students will have more opportunities to practise the language in the course of their work and leisure, so these factors also need to be considered when trying to assess how long it will take to move from one level to another.

Russian is a Slavic language used primarily in Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. It is an unofficial but widely spoken language in Ukraine, Latvia and Estonia and, to a lesser extent, the other countries that were once constituent republics of the USSR. It is the most geographically widespread language of Eurasia, the most widely spoken of the Slavic languages, and the largest native language in Europe. Russian belongs to the family of Indo-European languages and is one of three (or four including Rusyn) living members of the East Slavic languages. Written examples of Old East Slavonic are attested from the 10th century onwards. The language is one of the six official languages of the United Nations.

Lancashire was a county constituency of the House of Commons of the Parliament of England then of the Parliament of Great Britain from 1707 to 1800 and of the Parliament of the United Kingdom from 1801 to 1832. It was represented by two Members of Parliament until 1832. The constituency was split into two two-member divisions, for Parliamentary purposes, in 1832. The county was then represented by the North Lancashire and South Lancashire constituencies : the latter representing the hundreds of Salford and West Derby, and the former the hundreds of Amounderness, Blackburn, Leyland and Lonsdale. The constituency comprised the whole historic county of Lancashire, except for the Parliamentary boroughs of Clitheroe, Lancaster, Liverpool, Newton, Preston and Wigan. The county franchise, from 1430, was held by the adult male owners of freehold land valued at 40 shillings or more. Each elector had as many votes as there were seats to be filled. Votes had to be cast by a spoken declaration, in public, at the hustings, which took place in the county town of Lancaster. The expense and difficulty of voting at only one location in the county, together with the lack of a secret ballot contributed to the corruption and intimidation of electors, which was widespread in the unreformed British political system.
