The Communicative Approach means that your Russian lessons in Cambridge will be almost entirely through the medium of Russian. You will feel that you are making real progress, even in the first lesson, and will soon communicate in Russian with confidence, in a range of social and business environments. Our Russian courses are usually offered by our clients as 1:1 training for their employees. Group sessions, however, are also available and can be excellent value for money. Planning is required so that participants all meet at the same time each week, and we recommend that numbers are kept to 6 or less.
1:1 Russian lessons at Cambridge mean that you will have your individual needs, weaknesses and strengths catered for, so that your progress is quicker. Russian Course ManagementEvery SIMON & SIMON Russian language course has a highly experienced, multi-lingual Account Manager who oversees it.
When your Russian course starts you will be sent a profile on your trainer, materials for your course and a Course Plan as well as a Progress Report for every 40 hours of training. The vast majority of our Russian lessons take place at our clients' offices, removing the need for you to travel, but Russian lessons can take place in your home if that is more convenient.
We can also arrange full-time residential Russian language courses for you - just contact our office for information on available destinations. Cambridge Russian Course SchedulesOur Russian language courses in Cambridge take place throughout the year. Many of our students try to attend more than one weekly lesson if work commitments allow, and most will attend at least one session of 90-minutes duration per week.
If you would like a Weekend Course, one can be arranged. Our Russian daytime courses run from 8am through to 8pm, Monday - Friday.
We also provide Intensive Russian language courses on clients’ premises or in residential centres both in the UK and abroad. These courses run for 30 hours of the week, 6 hours a day from Monday to Friday. The Russian language course that you undertake will be customised for your Russian level and personal goals. Before you start the course, we will speak to you about your desired focus and assess you Russian level.
You may have little or no experience of Russian and only want basic conversational skills or you may be more proficient and desire more fluency with which to discuss business.
You may want to raise your Russian skills for use in meetings and negotiations or rather develop increased comprehension and pronunciation skills.
Whatever your objectives, our Russian language trainers are highly experienced, and you can be confident that your personalised Russian course will help you to meet your goals quickly. Russian Language Examination CoursesSIMON & SIMON also assists in preparation for Russian examinations, whether for business or personal qualification. We believe that our 95% pass rate for language examinations is a reflection of our policy of working with Russian teachers in Cambridge who possess above average experience.
Registration for and administration of Russian examinations, along with the issuing of results certificates are all provided by SIMON & SIMON. The table below is based on recognised language levels used by various academic institutions accross the European Union. A highly motivated student attending weekly sessions with their language trainer can expect to move from one level to another after 50 hours providing they also commit to a similar number of hours of self-study.
Of course, some people find learning languages easier than others, and some students will have more opportunities to practise the language in the course of their work and leisure, so these factors also need to be considered when trying to assess how long it will take to move from one level to another.

SIMON & SIMON International Breaking the Language Barrier Back to top of Russian Courses Cambridge Russian is a Slavic language used primarily in Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. It is an unofficial but widely spoken language in Ukraine, Latvia and Estonia and, to a lesser extent, the other countries that were once constituent republics of the USSR.
It is the most geographically widespread language of Eurasia, the most widely spoken of the Slavic languages, and the largest native language in Europe. Russian belongs to the family of Indo-European languages and is one of three (or four including Rusyn) living members of the East Slavic languages. Written examples of Old East Slavonic are attested from the 10th century onwards. The language is one of the six official languages of the United Nations. The city of Cambridge is a university town and the administrative centre of the county of Cambridgeshire, England. It lies in East Anglia about 50 miles (80 km) north-by-east of London. Cambridge is at the heart of the high-technology centre known as Silicon Fen – a play on Silicon Valley and the fens surrounding the city.
Cambridge is well known as the home of the University of Cambridge. The university includes the renowned Cavendish Laboratory, King's College Chapel, and the Cambridge University Library. The Cambridge skyline is dominated by the last two buildings, along with the chimney of Addenbrooke's Hospital in the far south of the city and St John's College Chapel tower in the north.
According to the United Kingdom Census 2001, the city's population was 108,863 (including 22,153 students), and the population of the urban area (which includes parts of the neighbouring South Cambridgeshire district) is estimated to be 130,000.
