SIMON & SIMON’s team of qualified native Romanian speaking teachers average 15 years of experience. Professionals and private individuals from all over the UK have benefited from SIMON & SIMON’s Romanian language courses, all of which are tailor-made to reflect each student's level of experience. We consistently receive outstanding feedback from our clients about our Romanian tutors. Each student is sent a specific profile on the experience and background of their Romanian tutor before they start their course of lessons.

If you have only studied languages before at school you will find that teaching approaches to modern language training have changed enormously in recent years - it's now a lot more fun and a far more rewarding experience! Your teacher will conduct your Romanian lesson in Oxford almost entirely in Romanian - a method known as the Communicative Approach - and you will find yourself making progress from the very first lesson and soon growing in the confidence to communicate in Romanian in a variety of social and business situations.

Romanian courses from us can be run for groups or individuals. While many of our clients offer their employees Romanian courses on a 1:1 basis, group sessions can be excellent value. Group sessions do require planning and commitment from the participants and we recommend that no more than 6 people participate in a group. As 1:1 lessons can be tailored to an individual’s needs, strengths and weaknesses, learning Romanian in Oxford on a 1:1 basis will give quicker progress.

Romanian Course Management

Every SIMON & SIMON Romanian language course is overseen by one of our highly experienced Account Managers, all of whom are multi-lingual. At the start of your Romanian language course we will send you a profile on your trainer, followed by a Course Plan and relevant course materials, and then a Progress Report after every 40 hours of training. You will also receive a copy of our quarterly newsletter, Breaking the Language Barrier, featuring a superb prize draw and invaluable weblinks to language learning sources.

SIMON & SIMON’s Romanian language courses have been run for clients in many different locations. With a global network of language trainers a Romanian language course can be held in almost any major city throughout Europe and elsewhere. We can arrange Romanian language courses in your home or, as many of our clients prefer, in your offices to remove the need for you to travel. Full-time residential Romanian language courses are also an option. For a list of locations, please contact our office.

Oxford Romanian Course Schedules

Our Romanian language courses in Oxford take place throughout the year. Many of our students try to attend more than one weekly lesson if work commitments allow, and most will attend at least one session of 90-minutes duration per week. If you would like a Weekend Course, one can be arranged. Our Romanian daytime courses run from 8am through to 8pm, Monday - Friday. We also provide Intensive Romanian language courses on clients’ premises or in residential centres both in the UK and abroad. These courses run for 30 hours of the week, 6 hours a day from Monday to Friday.

The Romanian language course that you undertake will be customised for your Romanian level and personal goals. Before you start the course, we will speak to you about your desired focus and assess you Romanian level. You may have little or no experience of Romanian and only want basic conversational skills or you may be more proficient and desire more fluency with which to discuss business. You may want to raise your Romanian skills for use in meetings and negotiations or rather develop increased comprehension and pronunciation skills. Whatever your objectives, our Romanian language trainers are highly experienced, and you can be confident that your personalised Romanian course will help you to meet your goals quickly.

Romanian Language Examination Courses

SIMON & SIMON also assists in preparation for Romanian examinations, whether for business or personal qualification. We believe that our 95% pass rate for language examinations is a reflection of our policy of working with Romanian teachers in Oxford who possess above average experience. Registration for and administration of Romanian examinations, along with the issuing of results certificates are all provided by SIMON & SIMON.

The table below is based on recognised language levels used by various academic institutions accross the European Union. A highly motivated student attending weekly sessions with their language trainer can expect to move from one level to another after 50 hours providing they also commit to a similar number of hours of self-study.

Of course, some people find learning languages easier than others, and some students will have more opportunities to practise the language in the course of their work and leisure, so these factors also need to be considered when trying to assess how long it will take to move from one level to another.

Back to top of Romanian Courses Oxford

Romanian is a Romance language spoken by around 24 to 28 million people, primarily in Romania and Moldova. It has official status in Romania, Republic of Moldova, the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina in Serbia and in the autonomous Mount Athos in Greece. Romanian speakers are scattered across many other countries, notably Italy, Spain, Ukraine, Bulgaria, the United States, Canada, Israel, Russia, Portugal, the United Kingdom, France, and Germany.

Oxford is a city, and the county town of Oxfordshire, in South East England. The city, made prominent by its medieval university, has a population of just under 165,000, with 151,000 living within the district boundary. The rivers Cherwell and Thames run through Oxford and meet south of the city centre. For a distance of some 10 miles (16 km) along the river, in the vicinity of Oxford, the Thames is known as The Isis. Buildings in Oxford demonstrate an example of every British architectural period since the arrival of the Saxons, including the iconic, mid-18th century Radcliffe Camera. Oxford is known as the "city of dreaming spires", a term coined by poet Matthew Arnold in reference to the harmonious architecture of Oxford's university buildings. The University of Oxford is the oldest university in the English-speaking world. Oxford was first occupied in Saxon times, and was initially known as "Oxenaforda", meaning "Ford of the Ox"; fords being more commonly used than bridges at that time. It began with the foundation of St Frideswide's nunnery in the 8th century, and was first mentioned in written records in the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle for the year 912. In the 10th century Oxford became an important military frontier town between the kingdoms of Mercia and Wessex and was on several occasions raided by Danes. St Frideswide is the patron saint of both the city and university.
