Polish Course Management

Every SIMON & SIMON Polish language course has a highly experienced, multi-lingual Account Manager who oversees it. When your Polish course starts you will be sent a profile on your trainer, materials for your course and a Course Plan as well as a Progress Report for every 40 hours of training. Most of our Polish courses are run at the offices of our clients so that you do not have to travel, but we are happy to arrange Polish training sessions for you in your home. York Polish Course Schedules

The Polish language courses in York that we run go on through the year. Each week, most of our students will attend at least one of our 90-minute lessons, but many will do more. We can easily arrange Weekend Courses for you. Polish courses run from Monday to Friday, any time from 8am to 8pm. Intensive Polish language courses can be arranged in residential centres abroad or in the UK, or on clients’ premises for 30 hours per week, 6 hours a day Monday to Friday.

Before you start your Polish language course we will assess your level of Polish and speak to you about your aims so that your Polish language course can be customised for you. You may have never been exposed to Polish before and wish to develop basic survival skills, or you may have some experience and wish to be able to speak more fluently in Polish when discussing business. You may want to further your ability to use Polish in negotiations and meetings or better your comprehension and pronunciation abilities. Whatever goals you may have, our experienced Polish language trainers will tailor your Polish course so that your goals can be quickly met.

Polish Language Examination Courses

We are happy to help in your preparation for any Polish examinations. Our students have a 95% pass rate and we think that their success shows the value of our policy of working with above-average experienced Polish teachers in York. Issuing of results certificates, registration for Polish examinations and administration of such exams is also provided by SIMON & SIMON.

The table below is based on recognised language levels used by various academic institutions accross the European Union. A highly motivated student attending weekly sessions with their language trainer can expect to move from one level to another after 50 hours providing they also commit to a similar number of hours of self-study.

Of course, some people find learning languages easier than others, and some students will have more opportunities to practise the language in the course of their work and leisure, so these factors also need to be considered when trying to assess how long it will take to move from one level to another.

Polish describes a Lechitic subgroup of West Slavic languages in Central Europe and the official language of Poland. Its written standard is the Polish alphabet which corresponds to the Latin alphabet with several additions. Polish-speakers use the language in a uniform manner throughout most of Poland. Despite the pressure of non-Polish administrations in Poland, who have often attempted to suppress the Polish language, a rich literature has developed over the centuries and the language is currently the largest in terms of speakers of the West Slavic group. It is also the third most widely spoken Slavic language, after Russian and Ukrainian.

York is a walled city, situated at the confluence of the Rivers Ouse and Foss in North Yorkshire, England. The city has a rich heritage and has provided the backdrop to major political events throughout much of its two millennia of existence. The city was founded by the Romans in 71 AD. They called it Eboracum, a name perhaps derived from one used by the British tribes who inhabited the area. The Romans made it the capital of their Province of Britannia Inferior. While the Roman colonia and fortress were located on high ground, by 400 the town itself was victim to periodic flooding from the rivers Ouse and Foss and lay abandoned. In the early 5th century the area was settled by Angles, who called the town Eoforwic. Reclamation of the flooded parts of the town were initiated in the 7th century under King Edwin. The city came to be the episcopal, and later, royal centre of the Kingdom of Northumbria.
