In depth: Our Spanish Courses for Business in London

1:1 and Group Spanish Courses in London

At SIMON & SIMON, we can offer Spanish courses on both an individual and group basis. While a considerable proportion of our clients choose to offer their employees Spanish courses on a 1:1 basis, group sessions can be excellent value. Group sessions do require the commitment of all participants, and we do request that group sessions are capped at 6 participants per group. 1:1 sessions prove to be the most beneficial approach to learning a language with SIMON & SIMON, this is because individual strengths and weaknesses can be evaluated, and the focus of the sessions can be centred around the individual. Learning Spanish in London on a 1:1 basis will give quicker progress.

Each of SIMON & SIMON’s Spanish language courses is overseen by a highly experienced and multi-lingual Account Manager. About Spanish

Spanish is a Romance language in the Ibero-Romance group that evolved from several languages and dialects in the central-north of Iberia during the 9th century and gradually spread with the expansion of the Kingdom of Castile into central and southern Iberia during the later Medieval period. In 1999, there were 358 million people speaking Spanish as a native language and a total of 417 million speakers worldwide. As of 2010 these figures are up to 400 and 500 million people respectively. Spanish is the second most natively spoken language in the world, after Mandarin Chinese. Mexico contains the largest population of Spanish speakers. Spanish is one of the six official languages of the United Nations.

About London

London is the capital city of England and the United Kingdom. London has the biggest population within Europe with over 8.6 million residents. However, this is not the largest population London has seen, with the current population equivalent to the population 76 years ago. To cope with the extreme population of London, there are approximately 10000 miles of sewage pipes underneath London.

London has been a major settlement for two millennia. Founded by the Romans, who called it Londinium, London retains its square-mile mediaeval boundaries where you will find today’s financial and business hub of London. London is a leading global city, with its strengths in the arts, commerce, education, entertainment, fashion, finance, healthcare, media, professional services, research and development, tourism and transport all contributing to its prominence as a city. London is the world’s largest financial centre alongside New York and has the largest city GDP in Europe.

London is home to 43 universities which forms the largest concentration of higher education institutions in Europe. In 2012, London became the first city to host the Summer Olympic Games three times. London is also leading the way in transport and is home to London Heathrow airport which sees the largest amount of international passengers pass through it compared to any other airport in the world, and is also home to the London Underground which has annual passenger numbers of over 1.25 billion.

Assess Your Spanish Level

The table below is based on recognised language levels used by various academic institutions across the European Union. A highly motivated student attending weekly sessions with their Spanish language trainer in London can expect to move from one level to another after 50 hours providing they also commit to a similar number of hours of self-study.

Of course, some people find learning languages easier than others, and some students will have more opportunities to practise Spanish in the course of their work and leisure, so these factors also need to be considered when trying to assess how long it will take to move from one level to another.
