SIMON & SIMON’s team of qualified native Japanese speaking teachers average 15 years of experience. Professionals and private individuals from all over the UK have benefited from SIMON & SIMON’s Japanese language courses, all of which are tailor-made to reflect each student's level of experience. We consistently receive outstanding feedback from our clients about our Japanese tutors. Each student is sent a specific profile on the experience and background of their Japanese tutor before they start their course of lessons.

New teaching approaches have revolutionised how modern language training is now approached. This training, with more fun and a more worthwhile experience means that it’s a far cry from what you may remember of studying languages in school. When you start a Japanese course in Peterborough, you will make progress from the very first lesson, as almost everything will be done in Japanese. This is known as the Communicative Approach, and means that your confidence and ability will soon grow so that you can use Japanese to communicate in social and business settings.

Our Japanese language courses are available on both a 1:1 and group basis, but the majority of our clients offer 1:1 Japanese training to their employees. However, with careful planning, group training can offer great value for money, provided there is a real commitment from the participants to get together at the same time every week. We strongly recommend you keep group numbers to 6 or less for these types of courses to be successful. Those learning Japanese in at Peterborough on a 1:1 basis will naturally make much faster progress, as the course will be designed around their individual needs and focus on their particular strengths and weaknesses.

Japanese Course Management

A multi-lingual Account Manager with extensive experience is responsible for each SIMON & SIMON Japanese language course. A profile on your trainer, Course Plan and course materials will be sent to you when you start your Japanese course. After every 40 hours of training you will receive a Progress Report. We will also send you Breaking the Language Barrier, our quarterly newsletter, which contains a wonderful prize draw and valuable language learning resource weblinks.

The Japanese language courses of SIMON & SIMON have been run in numerous locations. As we have a global network of language trainers your Japanese language course can be arranged in major cities across Europe and further afield. Most of our clients arrange for their Japanese lessons to be run in their offices so that there is less need for travel, but we can also run Japanese lessons in your home. We also run residential full-time Japanese language courses in a variety of locations which our office will be happy to inform you of.

Peterborough Japanese Course Schedules

We run Japanese language courses in Peterborough all year. Most of our students participate in no less than one 90-minute lesson per week, but many students will participate in more if work commitments allow. Weekend Courses can be facilitated, and our Japanese weekday courses run from Monday to Friday, from 8am to 8pm. Intensive Japanese language courses are also available and can be run at the client’s premises or a residential centre in the UK or overseas. These courses take place over 6 hours a day, Monday through Friday, for 30 hours per week.

Your Japanese language course’s content will be tailored to your experience and goals. Prior to the course, we will assess your Japanese language level and speak to you comprehensively about the areas and subjects you are interested in. Students may be complete novices who need everyday Japanese conversational skills or have more proficiency in Japanese and wish to be able to discuss various business topics such as banking or finance more fluently. Students may desire to bolster their Japanese for negotiations and meetings or focus on gaining better listening, pronunciation and comprehension skills. No matter what your needs, you can be confident that our very experienced Japanese language trainers will work with you on a Japanese language course that is tailored for you so that you quickly meet your goals.

Japanese Language Examination Courses

Japanese examination preparation for business or other examinations can also be assisted with. Our students boast a 95% rate of passing such examinations, proving the value of our policy of Japanese teachers in Peterborough with experience above the average. SIMON & SIMON also organises registration and administration of Japanese examinations as well as issuing results certificates as a part of our service.

The table below is based on recognised language levels used by various academic institutions accross the European Union. A highly motivated student attending weekly sessions with their language trainer can expect to move from one level to another after 50 hours providing they also commit to a similar number of hours of self-study.

Of course, some people find learning languages easier than others, and some students will have more opportunities to practise the language in the course of their work and leisure, so these factors also need to be considered when trying to assess how long it will take to move from one level to another.

Japanese is a language spoken by over 130 million people in Japan and in Japanese emigrant communities. Dozens of dialects are spoken in Japan. The profusion is due to many factors, including the length of time the archipelago has been inhabited, its mountainous island terrain, and Japan's long history of both external and internal isolation. The main distinction in Japanese accents is between Tokyo-type and Kyoto-Osaka-type, though Kyūshū-type dialects form a third, smaller group. Within each type are several subdivisions. Kyoto-Osaka-type dialects are in the central region, with borders roughly formed by Toyama, Kyōto, Hyōgo, and Mie Prefectures; most Shikoku dialects are also that type. The final category of dialects are those that are descended from the Eastern dialect of Old Japanese; these dialects are spoken in Hachijō-jima island and a few others.

Peterborough is a cathedral city and unitary authority area in the East of England, with an estimated population of 164,000 in June 2007. For ceremonial purposes it is in the county of Cambridgeshire. Situated 75 miles (121 km) north of London, the city stands athwart the River Nene, which flows into the North Sea approximately 30 miles (48 km) to the north-east. The railway station is an important stop on the East Coast Main Line railway. The local topography is flat and low-lying, and in some places lies below sea level. The area known as the Fens falls to the east of Peterborough. The City of Peterborough includes the outlying military installation of RAF Wittering, and as a unitary authority it borders Northamptonshire and Rutland to the west, Lincolnshire to the north, and Cambridgeshire to the south and east. Human settlement in the area dates back to before the Bronze Age, as can be seen at the Flag Fen archaeological site to the east of the current city centre. This site also shows evidence of Roman occupation. The Anglo-Saxon period saw the establishment of a monastery, then known as Medeshamstede, which later became Peterborough Cathedral. The population grew rapidly following the arrival of the railways in the nineteenth century, and Peterborough became an industrial centre, particularly noted for its brick manufacture. Following the Second World War, growth was limited until designation as a New Town in the 1960s.
