We consistently receive excellent feedback on our Japanese tutors from our clients, and we send our students a profile on their Japanese tutor prior to their Japanese lessons commencing, with information on the tutor's background and experience. Modern language teaching is now approached much differently to how you might remember learning languages in school. The experience is now much more fun and rewarding.
The Communicative Approach, where your Japanese teacher will conduct your lessons almost entirely in Japanese means that progress is made from your very first lesson. Soon, you will have such confidence that using Japanese in a social or business setting will be no problem. We offer Japanese courses as group sessions or on a 1:1 basis/ Most of our clients offer their employees 1:1 Japanese training, however, if planned carefully, with participants numbering 6 or less who commit to meeting every week, group sessions can be good value for money.
Those who learn Japanese at Cumbria on a 1:1 basis will find that they progress more quickly, as the lessons can be specifically tailored for their individual needs, strengths and weaknesses. Japanese Course ManagementOne of our highly experienced, multilingual Account managers oversees each SIMON & SIMON Japanese language course.
On starting your Japanese course you will receive various materials including a profile on your trainer, a Course Plan and course materials and a Progress Report on every 40 hours of your training. 30 hour per week intensive Japanese courses can be held on clients’ premises or in residential centres in the UK or abroad. These courses take 6 hours per day, Monday through Friday. We will tailor your Japanese language course for your specific aims and level of knowledge. Before you start your Japanese language course we will assess your goals and level of Japanese experience.
Your desire to learn Japanese may be simply to develop basic skills, or you may have some level of proficiency and wish to increase your ability to use Japanese to discuss business.
You may want to develop your language skills so that you can use Japanese in negotiations and meetings or improve your pronunciation and telephone skills.
No matter what goals you have, you can be confident of our Japanese trainers experience and that your Japanese language course is tailored to your needs and your goals will be quickly met. Japanese Language Examination CoursesOur students’ pass rate for Japanese examinations is at 95%, and we are happy to help with the preparations for any such examination. Our high pass rate shows the value of working with Japanese teachers in Cumbria who have a higher level of experience than average.
SIMON & SIMON also arrange registration for Japanese examinations as well as administering the examination and issuing the results. The table below is based on recognised language levels used by various academic institutions accross the European Union. A highly motivated student attending weekly sessions with their language trainer can expect to move from one level to another after 50 hours providing they also commit to a similar number of hours of self-study.
Of course, some people find learning languages easier than others, and some students will have more opportunities to practise the language in the course of their work and leisure, so these factors also need to be considered when trying to assess how long it will take to move from one level to another.

SIMON & SIMON International Breaking the Language Barrier Back to top of Japanese Courses Cumbria Japanese is a language spoken by over 130 million people in Japan and in Japanese emigrant communities. Dozens of dialects are spoken in Japan. The profusion is due to many factors, including the length of time the archipelago has been inhabited, its mountainous island terrain, and Japan's long history of both external and internal isolation. The main distinction in Japanese accents is between Tokyo-type and Kyoto-Osaka-type, though Kyūshū-type dialects form a third, smaller group. Within each type are several subdivisions. Kyoto-Osaka-type dialects are in the central region, with borders roughly formed by Toyama, Kyōto, Hyōgo, and Mie Prefectures; most Shikoku dialects are also that type. The final category of dialects are those that are descended from the Eastern dialect of Old Japanese; these dialects are spoken in Hachijō-jima island and a few others. Cumbria is a non-metropolitan county in North West England, United Kingdom. Cumbria, and a new local authority called Cumbria County Council, came into existence as a county in 1974 after the passage of the Local Government Act 1972. The county consists of six districts, and in 2008 had a total population of just under half a million. Cumbria as a whole is one of the most sparsely populated counties in the UK with 73.4 people per km2 (190/sq mi). Despite this, the Borough of Barrow-in-Furness has a population density over twelves times this at 921/km2 (2,385.3/sq mi).
Cumbria, the third largest ceremonial county in England by area, is bounded to the north by the Scottish council area of Dumfries and Galloway, to the west by the Irish Sea, to the south by Lancashire, to the southeast by North Yorkshire, and to the east by County Durham and Northumberland.
A predominantly rural county, Cumbria contains the Lake District and associated Lake District National Park, considered one of the most beautiful areas of England. The area has provided inspiration for generations of British and foreign artists, writers and musicians. Much of the county is mountainous, and it contains every peak in England over 900 metres (3,000 ft) above sea level, with Scafell Pike at 978 metres (3,209 ft) being the highest point in England. Long existing as an upland, coastal and rural area, Cumbria's heritage is characterised by a broad number of invasions, migration and settlement.
