Feedback from clients on our Italian tutors is consistently highly positive. Our students are sent a profile containing information on their specific teacher’s experience and background before the start of their Italian Lessons. If the only experience you have of studying a language is from your time in school, you may not know that there has been a revolution in the teaching of modern languages so that it is both more fun and more worthwhile.
Your Italian teacher in Winchester will be using the Communicative Approach, where your lessons will, with few exceptions, be conducted in Italian. You will see your progress from that very first lesson and will soon be confident enough to conduct business or talk socially in Italian. We offer Italian courses as group sessions or on a 1:1 basis/ Most of our clients offer their employees 1:1 Italian training, however, if planned carefully, with participants numbering 6 or less who commit to meeting every week, group sessions can be good value for money.
Those who learn Italian at Winchester on a 1:1 basis will find that they progress more quickly, as the lessons can be specifically tailored for their individual needs, strengths and weaknesses. Italian Course ManagementSIMON & SIMON’s Italian language courses all have a specific Account Manager who oversee the course. Each of these managers is highly experienced and multi-lingual.
At the start of your Italian course, you will receive a profile on your trainer, course materials and a Course Plan. After every 40 hours of training you will receive a Progress Report. We will send you our quarterly newsletter, Breaking the Language Barrier, which contains a wonderful prize draw as well as weblinks to valuable language learning resources. SIMON & SIMON has arranged Italian language courses for clients in numerous locations, and with our global network of language trainers we can organise a Italian language course for you wherever you are - in almost any major city in the UK, Europe and beyond.

We can also arrange full-time residential Italian language courses for you - just contact our office for information on available destinations. Winchester Italian Course SchedulesWe run our Italian language courses in Winchester all through the year. We also arrange weekend Italian courses on request. Our Italian programs commence from 8am to 8pm Monday to Friday.
Intensive 30 hour per week Italian language courses, held on clients’ premises or at residential centres in the UK or abroad, are also available on a 6 hours per day basis, Monday through Friday. Whatever your personal level of experience and future goals, your Italian course will be customised for you. Before you start the course we will assess your level of Italian and discuss in detail what you would like to focus on.
You may desire simply to gain everyday Italian skills from the level of a complete beginner, or you may have more experience in Italian and want to improve your ability to discuss banking, finance or marketing.
You may want to develop improved pronunciation and comprehension skills or improve your Italian for use in negotiations and meetings.
Whatever your goals and needs, our highly experienced Italian language trainers will tailor your Italian course so that your goals will be met quickly. Italian Language Examination CoursesIf you are taking a Italian examination, for business or other reasons, we are happy to help you with your preparations. We are very proud of the 95% pass rate of our students in language examinations. We believe this highlights the value of working with Italian teachers in Winchester whose experience is above average.
SIMON & SIMON can also register you for your Italian examination, administer the examination and issue you your results. The table below is based on recognised language levels used by various academic institutions accross the European Union. A highly motivated student attending weekly sessions with their language trainer can expect to move from one level to another after 50 hours providing they also commit to a similar number of hours of self-study.
Of course, some people find learning languages easier than others, and some students will have more opportunities to practise the language in the course of their work and leisure, so these factors also need to be considered when trying to assess how long it will take to move from one level to another.

SIMON & SIMON International Breaking the Language Barrier Back to top of Italian Courses Winchester Italian is a Romance language spoken as a native language by about 70 million people in Italy, Malta, San Marino and parts of Switzerland, Croatia, Slovenia and France. Many native speakers are native bilinguals of both standardised Italian and regional varieties.
Italian derives diachronically from Latin and is the closest national language to Latin. Unlike most other Romance languages, Italian retains Latin's contrast between short and long consonants. As in most Romance languages, stress is distinctive. In particular, among the Romance languages, Italian is the closest to Latin in terms of vocabulary. Lexical similarity is 89% with French, 87% with Sardinian, 85% with Catalan, 82% with Spanish, 78% with Rhaeto-Romance and 77% with Romanian. Winchester is the county town of Hampshire, in South East England. It lies at the heart of the wider City of Winchester, a local government district, and is located at the western end of the South Downs, along the course of the River Itchen. At the time of the 2001 Census, Winchester had a population of 41,420.
Archaically known as Winton and Wintonceastre, Winchester is a historic cathedral city and the ancient capital of Wessex and the Kingdom of England. It developed from the Roman town of Venta Belgarum. Winchester's major landmark is Winchester Cathedral, one of the largest cathedrals in England, with the distinction of having the longest nave and overall length of all Gothic cathedrals in Europe. The town is also home to Winchester University and Winchester College - famous Public School. Winchester railway station is served by trains running from London Waterloo, Weymouth, Portsmouth, Southampton and the North. The city's architectural and historic interest, and its fast links to other towns and cities have led Winchester to become one of the most expensive and desirable areas of the country. A person who is from or resides in Winchester is locally known as a Wintonian.
