All over the UK, private individuals and professionals in a variety of companies have gained benefits by taking part in a Italian Language Course from SIMON & SIMON. With an average of 15 years’ experience, the native Italian speakers of SIMON & SIMON’s qualified teaching team tailor each course for the specific requirements of the student, from absolute novices to those with some experience. Our clients reliably give excellent feedback on our Italian teachers. Each of our students receives an information profile on the background and experience of their Italian teacher before they commence their Italian lessons.

If the only experience you have of studying a language is from your time in school, you may not know that there has been a revolution in the teaching of modern languages so that it is both more fun and more worthwhile. Your Italian teacher in Norfolk will be using the Communicative Approach, where your lessons will, with few exceptions, be conducted in Italian. You will see your progress from that very first lesson and will soon be confident enough to conduct business or talk socially in Italian.

We offer Italian courses as group sessions or on a 1:1 basis/ Most of our clients offer their employees 1:1 Italian training, however, if planned carefully, with participants numbering 6 or less who commit to meeting every week, group sessions can be good value for money. Those who learn Italian at Norfolk on a 1:1 basis will find that they progress more quickly, as the lessons can be specifically tailored for their individual needs, strengths and weaknesses.

Italian Course Management

Every SIMON & SIMON Italian language course has a highly experienced, multi-lingual Account Manager who oversees it. When your Italian course starts you will be sent a profile on your trainer, materials for your course and a Course Plan as well as a Progress Report for every 40 hours of training. Breaking the Language Barrier, our quarterly newsletter that you will also receive, contains a prize draw as well as weblinks to a number of learning resources.

Italian language courses have been run by SIMON & SIMON in many locations. Our global network of language trainers means that any major city in the UK Europe, and beyond can hold your Italian language course. We can arrange your Italian language lessons for your own home, but many of our clients like to run them in their offices so as to minimise travel. Residential full-time Italian language courses are also available. Our office can discuss available locations with you.

Norfolk Italian Course Schedules

Our Italian language courses in Norfolk go on all year. Some of our students attend more than one 90-minute weekly session if work circumstances allow, and most will attend at least one per week. Weekend Courses in Italian can be arranged on request. Our Italian courses are available 12 hours a day, from 8am to 8pm Monday through Friday. 30 hour per week intensive Italian courses can be held on clients’ premises or in residential centres in the UK or abroad. These courses take 6 hours per day, Monday through Friday.

We will tailor your Italian language course for your specific aims and level of knowledge. Before you start your Italian language course we will assess your goals and level of Italian experience. Your desire to learn Italian may be simply to develop basic skills, or you may have some level of proficiency and wish to increase your ability to use Italian to discuss business. You may want to develop your language skills so that you can use Italian in negotiations and meetings or improve your pronunciation and telephone skills. No matter what goals you have, you can be confident of our Italian trainers experience and that your Italian language course is tailored to your needs and your goals will be quickly met.

Italian Language Examination Courses

Our students’ pass rate for Italian examinations is at 95%, and we are happy to help with the preparations for any such examination. Our high pass rate shows the value of working with Italian teachers in Norfolk who have a higher level of experience than average. SIMON & SIMON also arrange registration for Italian examinations as well as administering the examination and issuing the results.

The table below is based on recognised language levels used by various academic institutions accross the European Union. A highly motivated student attending weekly sessions with their language trainer can expect to move from one level to another after 50 hours providing they also commit to a similar number of hours of self-study.

Of course, some people find learning languages easier than others, and some students will have more opportunities to practise the language in the course of their work and leisure, so these factors also need to be considered when trying to assess how long it will take to move from one level to another.

Back to top of Italian Courses Norfolk

Italian is a Romance language spoken as a native language by about 70 million people in Italy, Malta, San Marino and parts of Switzerland, Croatia, Slovenia and France. Many native speakers are native bilinguals of both standardised Italian and regional varieties. Italian derives diachronically from Latin and is the closest national language to Latin. Unlike most other Romance languages, Italian retains Latin's contrast between short and long consonants. As in most Romance languages, stress is distinctive. In particular, among the Romance languages, Italian is the closest to Latin in terms of vocabulary. Lexical similarity is 89% with French, 87% with Sardinian, 85% with Catalan, 82% with Spanish, 78% with Rhaeto-Romance and 77% with Romanian.

Norfolk is a low-lying county in the East of England. It has borders with Lincolnshire to the west, Cambridgeshire to the west and southwest and Suffolk to the south. Its northern and eastern boundaries are the North Sea coast, including The Wash. The county town is Norwich. Norfolk is the fifth largest ceremonial county in England, with an area of 5,371 km² (2,074 sq mi). Of the 34 non-metropolitan English counties, Norfolk is the seventh most populous, with a population of 850,800 (mid 2008). However, as a largely rural county it has a low population density, 155 people per square kilometre (or 401 per square mile.) Norfolk has about one-thirtieth the population density of Central London, the tenth lowest density county in the country, with 38% of the county’s population living in the three major built up areas of Norwich (259,100), Great Yarmouth (71,700) and King's Lynn (43,100). The Broads, a well known network of rivers and lakes, is located on the county's east coast, bordering Suffolk. The area has the status of a National Park and is protected by the Broads Authority. Historical sites, such as those in the centre of Norwich, also contribute to tourism.
