Italian Course Management

Each of SIMON & SIMON’s Italian languages courses is the responsibility of a multi-lingual, very experienced Account Manager. When you start your Italian course, you will receive your trainer’s profile. Thereafter we will send you a Course Plan, materials for the course and, after each 40 hours of training, a Progress Report. Our quarterly newsletter, Breaking the Language Barrier, will also reach you, and contains a prize draw as well as the weblinks of language learning resources.

SIMON & SIMON Italian language courses have been arranged for clients in various locations. We have a global network of trainers and wherever you are, we will be able to organise a Italian language course for you, not only in the UK but in almost any of the major cities in Europe and beyond. Most of our Italian courses are run at the offices of our clients so that you do not have to travel, but we are happy to arrange Italian training sessions for you in your home. Full-time Italian courses can be arranged in a residential setting for you. Our office has information on the locations we offer.

Merseyside Italian Course Schedules

Our Italian language courses in Merseyside go on all year. Some of our students attend more than one 90-minute weekly session if work circumstances allow, and most will attend at least one per week. Weekend Courses in Italian can be arranged on request. Our Italian courses are available 12 hours a day, from 8am to 8pm Monday through Friday. 30 hour per week intensive Italian courses can be held on clients’ premises or in residential centres in the UK or abroad. These courses take 6 hours per day, Monday through Friday.

We will tailor your Italian language course for your specific aims and level of knowledge. Before you start your Italian language course we will assess your goals and level of Italian experience. Your desire to learn Italian may be simply to develop basic skills, or you may have some level of proficiency and wish to increase your ability to use Italian to discuss business. You may want to develop your language skills so that you can use Italian in negotiations and meetings or improve your pronunciation and telephone skills. No matter what goals you have, you can be confident of our Italian trainers experience and that your Italian language course is tailored to your needs and your goals will be quickly met.

Italian Language Examination Courses

Our students’ pass rate for Italian examinations is at 95%, and we are happy to help with the preparations for any such examination. Our high pass rate shows the value of working with Italian teachers in Merseyside who have a higher level of experience than average. SIMON & SIMON also arrange registration for Italian examinations as well as administering the examination and issuing the results.

The table below is based on recognised language levels used by various academic institutions accross the European Union. A highly motivated student attending weekly sessions with their language trainer can expect to move from one level to another after 50 hours providing they also commit to a similar number of hours of self-study.

Of course, some people find learning languages easier than others, and some students will have more opportunities to practise the language in the course of their work and leisure, so these factors also need to be considered when trying to assess how long it will take to move from one level to another.

Italian is a Romance language spoken as a native language by about 70 million people in Italy, Malta, San Marino and parts of Switzerland, Croatia, Slovenia and France. Many native speakers are native bilinguals of both standardised Italian and regional varieties. Italian derives diachronically from Latin and is the closest national language to Latin. Unlike most other Romance languages, Italian retains Latin's contrast between short and long consonants. As in most Romance languages, stress is distinctive. In particular, among the Romance languages, Italian is the closest to Latin in terms of vocabulary. Lexical similarity is 89% with French, 87% with Sardinian, 85% with Catalan, 82% with Spanish, 78% with Rhaeto-Romance and 77% with Romanian.

Merseyside is a metropolitan county in North West England, with a population of 1,365,900. Taking its name from the River Mersey, Merseyside came into existence as a metropolitan county in 1974, after the passage of the Local Government Act 1972, and the county consists of five metropolitan boroughs adjoining the Mersey Estuary, including the City of Liverpool. Merseyside County Council was abolished in 1986, and so its districts (the metropolitan boroughs) are now effectively unitary authorities. However, the metropolitan county is still recognised for ceremonial and administrative purposes. Merseyside is divided into two parts by the Mersey Estuary: the Metropolitan Borough of Wirral is located to the west of the estuary on the Wirral Peninsula; the rest of the county is located on the eastern side of the estuary. The eastern boroughs of Merseyside border Lancashire to the north and Greater Manchester to the east, and both parts of Merseyside, west and east of the estuary, border Cheshire to the south. The territory comprising the county of Merseyside previously consisted of the county boroughs of Birkenhead, Wallasey, Liverpool, Bootle, Southport and St Helens. Birkenhead and Wallasey were part of the county of Cheshire, whilst Liverpool, Bootle, Crosby, Formby, Southport and St Helens were part of the county of Lancashire.
