Both professionals and non-professionals alike have seen great benefits from a SIMON & SIMON Italian Language Course. SIMON & SIMON’s team of qualified Italian teachers is made up of native speakers who average 15 years of experience. These teachers will make sure that a course is tailored for your specific needs so that you will benefit regardless of your language proficiency. Feedback from clients on our Italian tutors is consistently highly positive. Our students are sent a profile containing information on their specific teacher’s experience and background before the start of their Italian Lessons.

Modern language teaching is now approached much differently to how you might remember learning languages in school. The experience is now much more fun and rewarding. The Communicative Approach, where your Italian teacher will conduct your lessons almost entirely in Italian means that progress is made from your very first lesson. Soon, you will have such confidence that using Italian in a social or business setting will be no problem.

The Italian courses that we offer can be run as 1:1 or group sessions. While most of our clients use 1:1 Italian training for their employees, group sessions can be good value. Participants numbers should be kept to 6 or less, and they will need to commit to meeting every week. If you require faster progress, 1:1 Italian courses at Leicestershire are more suitable as the lessons and course can be tailored to the individual’s needs while focusing on their specific weaknesses and strengths.

Italian Course Management

Every SIMON & SIMON Italian language course has a highly experienced, multi-lingual Account Manager who oversees it. When your Italian course starts you will be sent a profile on your trainer, materials for your course and a Course Plan as well as a Progress Report for every 40 hours of training. Breaking the Language Barrier, our quarterly newsletter that you will also receive, contains a prize draw as well as weblinks to a number of learning resources.

We have a global network of language trainers so our Italian language courses can be arranged for almost any major European city, or even further abroad. SIMON & SIMON have run Italian language courses for clients in many diverse locations. Italian language courses can be run in your home for your convenience, but many of our clients prefer to run them in their offices so as to minimise travel. For a list of the locations of the full-time residential Italian language courses that we offer, contact our office.

Leicestershire Italian Course Schedules

The Italian language courses in Leicestershire that we run go on through the year. Each week, most of our students will attend at least one of our 90-minute lessons, but many will do more. We can easily arrange Weekend Courses for you. Italian courses run from Monday to Friday, any time from 8am to 8pm. Intensive Italian language courses can be arranged in residential centres abroad or in the UK, or on clients’ premises for 30 hours per week, 6 hours a day Monday to Friday.

Before you start your Italian language course we will assess your level of Italian and speak to you about your aims so that your Italian language course can be customised for you. You may have never been exposed to Italian before and wish to develop basic survival skills, or you may have some experience and wish to be able to speak more fluently in Italian when discussing business. You may want to further your ability to use Italian in negotiations and meetings or better your comprehension and pronunciation abilities. Whatever goals you may have, our experienced Italian language trainers will tailor your Italian course so that your goals can be quickly met.

Italian Language Examination Courses

We are happy to help in your preparation for any Italian examinations. Our students have a 95% pass rate and we think that their success shows the value of our policy of working with above-average experienced Italian teachers in Leicestershire. Issuing of results certificates, registration for Italian examinations and administration of such exams is also provided by SIMON & SIMON.

The table below is based on recognised language levels used by various academic institutions accross the European Union. A highly motivated student attending weekly sessions with their language trainer can expect to move from one level to another after 50 hours providing they also commit to a similar number of hours of self-study.

Of course, some people find learning languages easier than others, and some students will have more opportunities to practise the language in the course of their work and leisure, so these factors also need to be considered when trying to assess how long it will take to move from one level to another.

Italian is a Romance language spoken as a native language by about 70 million people in Italy, Malta, San Marino and parts of Switzerland, Croatia, Slovenia and France. Many native speakers are native bilinguals of both standardised Italian and regional varieties. Italian derives diachronically from Latin and is the closest national language to Latin. Unlike most other Romance languages, Italian retains Latin's contrast between short and long consonants. As in most Romance languages, stress is distinctive. In particular, among the Romance languages, Italian is the closest to Latin in terms of vocabulary. Lexical similarity is 89% with French, 87% with Sardinian, 85% with Catalan, 82% with Spanish, 78% with Rhaeto-Romance and 77% with Romanian.

Leicestershire is a landlocked county in central England. It takes its name from the heavily populated City of Leicester, traditionally its administrative centre, although the City of Leicester unitary authority is today administered separately from the rest of Leicestershire. The county borders onto Derbyshire to the north-west, Nottinghamshire to the north, Rutland to the east, Warwickshire to the south-west, Staffordshire to the west, Lincolnshire to the north-east, and Northamptonshire to the south-east. The border with Warwickshire is Watling Street (the A5). County Hall, situated in Glenfield, about 3 miles (5 km) north-west of Leicester city centre, is the seat of Leicestershire County Council and the headquarters of the county authority. The City of Leicester is administered from offices in Leicester itself and the City Council meets at Leicester Town Hall.
