We consistently receive outstanding feedback from our clients about our Italian tutors. Each student is sent a specific profile on the experience and background of their Italian tutor before they start their course of lessons. If you have only studied languages before at school you will find that teaching approaches to modern language training have changed enormously in recent years - it's now a lot more fun and a far more rewarding experience!
Your teacher will conduct your Italian lesson in Hertfordshire almost entirely in Italian - a method known as the Communicative Approach - and you will find yourself making progress from the very first lesson and soon growing in the confidence to communicate in Italian in a variety of social and business situations. Our Italian language courses are available on both a 1:1 and group basis, but the majority of our clients offer 1:1 Italian training to their employees. However, with careful planning, group training can offer great value for money, provided there is a real commitment from the participants to get together at the same time every week. We strongly recommend you keep group numbers to 6 or less for these types of courses to be successful.
Those learning Italian in at Hertfordshire on a 1:1 basis will naturally make much faster progress, as the course will be designed around their individual needs and focus on their particular strengths and weaknesses. Italian Course ManagementA multi-lingual Account Manager with extensive experience is responsible for each SIMON & SIMON Italian language course.
A profile on your trainer, Course Plan and course materials will be sent to you when you start your Italian course. After every 40 hours of training you will receive a Progress Report. We will also send you Breaking the Language Barrier, our quarterly newsletter, which contains a wonderful prize draw and valuable language learning resource weblinks. Issuing of results certificates, registration for Italian examinations and administration of such exams is also provided by SIMON & SIMON. The table below is based on recognised language levels used by various academic institutions accross the European Union. A highly motivated student attending weekly sessions with their language trainer can expect to move from one level to another after 50 hours providing they also commit to a similar number of hours of self-study.
Of course, some people find learning languages easier than others, and some students will have more opportunities to practise the language in the course of their work and leisure, so these factors also need to be considered when trying to assess how long it will take to move from one level to another.

SIMON & SIMON International Breaking the Language Barrier Back to top of Italian Courses Hertfordshire Italian is a Romance language spoken as a native language by about 70 million people in Italy, Malta, San Marino and parts of Switzerland, Croatia, Slovenia and France. Many native speakers are native bilinguals of both standardised Italian and regional varieties.
Italian derives diachronically from Latin and is the closest national language to Latin. Unlike most other Romance languages, Italian retains Latin's contrast between short and long consonants. As in most Romance languages, stress is distinctive. In particular, among the Romance languages, Italian is the closest to Latin in terms of vocabulary. Lexical similarity is 89% with French, 87% with Sardinian, 85% with Catalan, 82% with Spanish, 78% with Rhaeto-Romance and 77% with Romanian. Hertfordshire is a ceremonial and non-metropolitan county in the East region of England. The county town is Hertford.
The county is one of the Home Counties and lies inland, bordered by Greater London (to the south), Buckinghamshire (to the west), Bedfordshire (including the unitary authorities of Luton and Central Bedfordshire to the north), Cambridgeshire (to the north east) and Essex (to the east).
Hertfordshire was originally the area assigned to a fortress constructed at Hertford under the rule of Edward the Elder in 913. The name Hertford is derived from the Anglo-Saxon heort ford, meaning deer crossing (of a watercourse). The name Hertfordshire first appears in the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle in 1011. Deer feature prominently in many county emblems.
There is evidence of human beings living in Hertfordshire since the Middle Stone Age. It was first farmed during the Neolithic period and permanent habitation appeared at the beginning of the Bronze Age. This was followed by tribes settling in the area during the Iron Age.
