We have a global network of trainers and wherever you are, we will be able to organise a Greek language course for you, not only in the UK but in almost any of the major cities in Europe and beyond. Most of our Greek courses are run at the offices of our clients so that you do not have to travel, but we are happy to arrange Greek training sessions for you in your home. Lancashire Greek Course Schedules

The Greek language courses in Lancashire that we run go on through the year. Each week, most of our students will attend at least one of our 90-minute lessons, but many will do more. We can easily arrange Weekend Courses for you. Greek courses run from Monday to Friday, any time from 8am to 8pm. Intensive Greek language courses can be arranged in residential centres abroad or in the UK, or on clients’ premises for 30 hours per week, 6 hours a day Monday to Friday.

Before you start your Greek language course we will assess your level of Greek and speak to you about your aims so that your Greek language course can be customised for you. You may have never been exposed to Greek before and wish to develop basic survival skills, or you may have some experience and wish to be able to speak more fluently in Greek when discussing business. You may want to further your ability to use Greek in negotiations and meetings or better your comprehension and pronunciation abilities. Whatever goals you may have, our experienced Greek language trainers will tailor your Greek course so that your goals can be quickly met.

Greek Language Examination Courses

We are happy to help in your preparation for any Greek examinations. Our students have a 95% pass rate and we think that their success shows the value of our policy of working with above-average experienced Greek teachers in Lancashire. Issuing of results certificates, registration for Greek examinations and administration of such exams is also provided by SIMON & SIMON.

The table below is based on recognised language levels used by various academic institutions accross the European Union. A highly motivated student attending weekly sessions with their language trainer can expect to move from one level to another after 50 hours providing they also commit to a similar number of hours of self-study.

Of course, some people find learning languages easier than others, and some students will have more opportunities to practise the language in the course of their work and leisure, so these factors also need to be considered when trying to assess how long it will take to move from one level to another.

Greek an independent branch of the Indo-European family of languages, is the language of the Greeks. Native to the southern Balkans, it has the longest documented history of any Indo-European language, spanning 34 centuries of written records. Its writing system has been the Greek alphabet for the majority of its history; other systems, such as Linear B and the Cypriot syllabary, were previously used. The alphabet arose from the Phoenician script, and was in turn the basis of the Latin, Cyrillic, Coptic, and many other writing systems.

Lancashire was a county constituency of the House of Commons of the Parliament of England then of the Parliament of Great Britain from 1707 to 1800 and of the Parliament of the United Kingdom from 1801 to 1832. It was represented by two Members of Parliament until 1832. The constituency was split into two two-member divisions, for Parliamentary purposes, in 1832. The county was then represented by the North Lancashire and South Lancashire constituencies : the latter representing the hundreds of Salford and West Derby, and the former the hundreds of Amounderness, Blackburn, Leyland and Lonsdale. The constituency comprised the whole historic county of Lancashire, except for the Parliamentary boroughs of Clitheroe, Lancaster, Liverpool, Newton, Preston and Wigan. The county franchise, from 1430, was held by the adult male owners of freehold land valued at 40 shillings or more. Each elector had as many votes as there were seats to be filled. Votes had to be cast by a spoken declaration, in public, at the hustings, which took place in the county town of Lancaster. The expense and difficulty of voting at only one location in the county, together with the lack of a secret ballot contributed to the corruption and intimidation of electors, which was widespread in the unreformed British political system.
